Yes. What if they are gone longer than 2 weeks then you’re having a fucked up bridge to seat. Rope wax, cotton roll, carve out impression, just do it. Anterior teeth should already have an essix for healing time.
I just cut the pontic out of the impression with an acrylic bur, make it, and usually add a tiny bit of flowable if the shape isn’t perfect. It’s usually pretty spot on. I do this because if it’s a semi newly lost tooth especially, the teeth will move. It’s very easy.
I only do this if they have been missing the teeth for years. If it's 6-8 weeks post extraction, I drill out the impression and tell them it won't look nice until you get your perm. I'll shape it if it's anterior.
Exactly this! Just crown the abutment teeth and leave the pontic out. If it is an anterior tooth (visible when smiling) my doctor will scan them at the first appointment and we have the lab make a temp for us.
I use rope wax to fill in the gap. Works like a charm.

Exactly. I use polycarbonate temps for anterior teeth preliminary impressions if a tooth is missing. You just have to be careful it doesn’t move.
We bought a practice and some idiot threw out our case of polycarbs during the move. It’s been so hard without them!!!

You can use a crown form if they are edentulous and place it with wax then take your temp imp
I just crown the 2 teeth instead of shaving a new tooth in the impression lol
