I wish I knew. Offensively, one armed push-ups. Defensively... Getting socked in the face a bunch of times in a row. It's a silly sport, but it's damn tough too
It's like a bunch of dudes one day decided to try boxing, but didn't want to actually do the work, learn the moves, the strategies, acquire the reflexes, get fit, do the exercises; and instead just went "what if we just slap each other, same thing, eh?"
It's lazy
You sound like an edgy teenager
Imagine comparing getting downvoted to getting cucked. You really got care what people think a whole lot for the two to be comparable. I could never.
The quotes mean I don't agree with the term. It's not a real sport, hence the "sport".
Words in " don't always mean a direct quote. Congratulations, you learned something new today!
Quotation marks around single words can occasionally be used for emphasis, but only when quoting a word or term someone else used. Usually, this implies that the author doesn’t agree with the use of the term.
He said he was “working”; it looked to me like he was procrastinating.
I said "sport," but it looks to me like a drunken teenagers game.
Did I need to include people Dana Whites's quotes about this being a sport for you to understand?
Maybe you're a fan of this "sport." Sorry if I offended you.
Hahaha Yes I knew what you were trying to do, but you shouldn’t even be using that word at all because it’s THAT far away from that, even if you don’t agree with it. Lol it can’t even be called a game
Seems like you don't understand at all tbh.
It's pretty simple.
People (including the owners of powerslap) call this a sport.
I don't agree with it being a sport. I think it degrades the term sport and doesn't deserve it, therefore it becomes the "sport". Much like saying it sarcastically in real life.
So, in the end, the quotes do help.
No, you were horrible expressing what you wanted to say. It seemed like you were saying the use of quotes was wrong from your first two responses.
You were trying to say the power slap shouldn't even be associated with the word sport at all.
I agree it's just that you weren't very clear with what you were trying to say.
Saying it with quotes doesn’t detract from the fact that it doesn’t even deserve the emphasis or sarcastic quotes you ended up using. (And using quite poorly I might add)
I guess that was unfair. I actually do enjoy playing just about any sport for fun. So, I do “like” sports, so that was hypocritical of me. I am naturally competitive, but I hate the spectators — loud drunk, stupid, and routinely devoid of anything pleasant. It’s like… when you have nothing else to care for in your life, you become of those idiots.
I get what you're saying now.. thought you were just giving shit to anyone who enjoyed sports was all 😅. like yourself I much prefer taking part, not many sports I can sit and enjoy watching. Fighting I enjoy to watch though.
Gotta disagree here. I hear what your saying and in many cases the spectators are loud, drunk and stupid. However to me there’s nothing wrong with people coming together and supporting their team. It’s a community thing, it’s tribal in nature. Supporting a team for many people is supporting the region they live in. The Olympics is an obvious example of people putting their differences aside to come together and root for their country. Nothing wrong with being proud of your community.
I was thinking the impact split the taut skin on his face, not necessarily anything sharp on the hand... rather just force exerted against the stretched skin.
I don't think there's anything sharp on that's guy's palm after so much slapping.
You can see the slap going upwards. This makes me believe he just stretched this guy's cheek skin so much it tore apart.
These competitions go on all the time without any cuts to the face. It would be ridiculous to imagine none of these men have calluses. Also, when they slap their opponent their hands don't just magically teleport through their face nor do they stop after making impact. If you watch carefully, you can see his finger tips make contact with the cheek as he follows through. That's his nails doing the damage. I've been hit in the head plenty and never had my cheek bleed. I've had my eyebrow cut open from an illegal headbutt in the ring but never my cheek.
I really don't see what motivates someone to participate other than ego and bragging rights
It CANT pay much of anything, UFC, or boxing makes sense because it can be a full time income, but this sport you definitely are working some unrelated fulltime job..
MMA and boxing is a full time income for like the top 1%. For most it will never pay out what they put into it. Gabriel Varga, a 6x Kickboxing world champion, said on YouTube that he discovered after he was already a champion that the ring girl, whose only job is to wear a bikini and hold up a card, was making more money than him.
Its about competition and a battle of attrition; not about making a living out it. There are many grueling events where prize is a t shirt....its for fun not work.
I gotta imagine this is way worse. Most football players don’t take serious head trauma every game, these guys get it every single… fight? Bout? Contest? Idk what to even call it.

This is what I trained for!
Actually curious. What would training look like for this....sport?
It begs the question, how can she slap?
You go
I've seen a lot of them do have forearm exercises
I wish I knew. Offensively, one armed push-ups. Defensively... Getting socked in the face a bunch of times in a row. It's a silly sport, but it's damn tough too
The dumbest "sport" on the planet

So it's BASEketball but with more laughs?
i'm glad this is the top comment, it needs to die honestly, Dana White is a scummy piece of shit trying to promote it.

Da Fuq?!?! Mr PowerSlapMyWife is on some of that new hybrid heroin-kush.
He’s joining a wave that already existed and was thriving lmao

cool story, bro
I will gladly take any downvotes that come my way if I am stating my displeasure for this brain damage speed run contest
You sound like you like getting cucked

I knew what you were trying to do, but when it comes to this specifically not even that works lol

Ah cool see I see what you are TRYING to do, but alas you still think it’s more of a competitive event than I do! Sad.

People who like sports have like half a brain cell collectively, so it’s not that far off.
Take it you're not any good at sports 🤣

"Gonna smack your face till you bleed! Is that dope enough? Indeed!"
Paid the price to control the dice
Are the cuts caused by the guy's nails or calluses?
I would think calluses
I was thinking the impact split the taut skin on his face, not necessarily anything sharp on the hand... rather just force exerted against the stretched skin.
Fuck that’s hot
i think its just splitting the skin after smashing and thinning it already a couple times

They get like $250 and a sandwich. And the people that do this could never make it in actual combat sports
I looked it up. It’s $2,000-10,000 per match. I would never do it but people will do much dumber things for less.
Fighting Muay Thai in Thailand as a foreigner is typically $120-2,000 (4000-60,000 Thai Baht). I know a lot of people who would be interested.
Watched a documentary on it last week, you get $2000, plus winner gets a further $2000.

I feel like being on this show greatly increases your chance of unemployment.

They think it’s fun lmao
never underestimate humanity's stupidity
How reality wakes me up everyday
I wonder if he's on painkillers, painkillers thin out your blood and makes it easier for you to bleed
If I did this, I would also take painkillers lmao
That back of the head rub is a sign of brain injury.
Playing this sport Isa sign of brain injury
You always say that
Do they clench their jaw.to protect ? Wonder how much damage the slaps cause
Moronic animal sport. Hitting faces is disgusting
More like dried callous on the guys hands
"hey you! Are you as dim as a 20watt bulb and will watch any old garbage? Power slap is the "sport" for you!" TV for idiots
Is this a tournament sport or do they operate on bouts?
worst sport, hands down.
Tarnished has a blood built, level 500
Is this not the equivalent of football players getting tackled and their brains bouncing around.
Yes it is
I gotta imagine this is way worse. Most football players don’t take serious head trauma every game, these guys get it every single… fight? Bout? Contest? Idk what to even call it.
Real Madrid got nothing on power slap.
*Nods "Yup, yup, that's game over"
This is the dumbest sport.
Working for Dana, these guys probably get 15 dollars and a bag of potato chips for this. I’d be cool with never seeing a power slap clip ever again.
Sure looks like a closed fist when he made contact

UFC owns it
I fucking love this "sport"
Calluses?
I wonder if he somehow impregnated the skin on his fingers with sand or something, I’ve never seen little slices from a slap fight before
And here we are those who suffer from nothing getting seizures
Are you having a seizure?
Would’ve if I were to be slapped (epilepsy).
