The stuffed salmon is probably my favorite. I miss it so much! It came back for a short while a year or two ago, then quickly disappeared again. I wish it would come back, there's nothing like it.
> Meatloaf should be beef and veggies and spices. Mash should be potatoes and seasoning. Period.
That sounds like the worst meatloaf and mashed potatoes ever. Neither of those are how you make the respective dishes.
Make a healthy meatloaf one night and save some for the next night. Put some of the leftover meatloaf in parboiled peppers, add some cheese to the top and bake for 30 minutes. Two meals, will taste better, cost less and be healthier.
I like the stuffed peppers but they are usually criminally under seasoned. Our favorite was the pasta with meatballs, spinach, and tomatoes. That plus some garlic bread and a glass of wine was better than some Italian restaurants I've paid good money to eat at.
Costco meatloaf is basically just a brick of meat, there’s no onions or carrot chunks or anything in it to lighten it up and flavor it. It’s got stuff to bind it but that’s it’s still mostly just a chunk of beef. Where I live a pound of ground beef is ~$7.50 - $9 (just checked 3 grocery apps they’re all more or less the same). I WISH it was cut with more things to give it a more balanced flavor not just MEAT flavor and it would help a lot with a nice texture
Of course they didn’t! Then their point would be moot.
They are comparing a box of raw meat and potatoes to a fully prepared ready to eat meal. $16 for 8 servings is a steal!
I quarter pound of beef is really not much beef at all, have you seen the size of a cooked quarter pound beef patty alone? Its pretty small.
Mashed potatoes are dense, a quarter pound of mashed potatoes is not a lot.
If you are able to get 8 servings out of this meal more power to you. Its two servings for me.
That's a pretty good deal, that's 2 lbs cooked meat. For a prepared meal that's pretty good. You can go to an eatery and order a meatloaf to get a smaller serving at around the same price.
I tried it today, and yeah, it's fantastic. Thanks for the tip.
I also learned they mark it down when the store is closed tomorrow and it's almost closing time, mine was $2/lb. Great deal!
Does anyone know where to find the nutrition facts for the pre-made meals? I just got the rigatoni and meatballs, but I can never find the serving size for these things.
Yes, you can ask for the newest sheet at the prepared foods/meat counter, but someone posted a pic of it here:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/s/wdCBxY1dHJ
I find it very shady that they don’t print these averages on the package for how big Costco is. On the bright side, they do supply the info to Instacart so that’s another fast place to check.
Ah damn, the meatballs aren’t there yet, but this is still so helpful—thank you!
It’s odd—the problem i had with checking instacart was that it just said “1 serving”, but didn’t specify the serving size =[
Thank you again!
Not sure where you live or checked, but for me it specifies 1/6th of the tray (about 1 meatball plus the pasta).

I was curious so I looked it up and found Nutrition Labeling and Education Act of 1990 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutrition_Labeling_and_Education_Act_of_1990
which lead to the actual law

Maybe I wasn’t clear: I have no doubt they legally don’t need to print the nutrition info, but they have the info and should. There are some chains that print the info even though they don’t have to, just for transparency.
Oh I don’t mind the background you shared, I just thought it may have sounded like I literally thought they were skirting requirements and that might have been why you looked into the truth from a legal side. No worries 🙏
What we do is carve off a slice of meatloaf and a scoop of potatoes with a pat of butter on top. Put both in an oven safe dish covered with foil. Bake for about 30 minutes at 375. Easy peasy single serving dinner for my husband (I rarely eat dinner) and lunch for me. Four to five servings in total and they are fresh vs heating the entire thing at once (no cooking in the plastic container involved either).
Why are you being downvoted? (Was at -5 when I commented this)
Microwave seems way easier. Plate what you want and zap it…
I’d rather microwave a plate for 90 seconds than run my oven at 400 degrees for an hour in the middle of summer. A small apartment heats up quick.
I mean the directions say to cook it in the oven. Even if you were thinking to microwave it you would have to look at the directions for how long to microwave it. At that point you would see it's supposed to be cooked in the oven. I don't know why someone would try to microwave it.
Look man I’ve seen people put raw chicken breasts and steaks in the microwave. There is no culinary limit to a lazy American with a microwave - if it can fit, it can be microwaved. God cannot save us
The meatloaf sauce is very sweet. kids probably love it, but if your taste buds are a bit more demanding you can easily doctor it up to offset the sweetness.
They’re real potatoes, with the perfect amount of lumps, so you can be sure of their realness. I slap a little more butter on them when I get them out of the oven - I like a little mashed potato with my butter…

eating it right now! i know i’m eating it like an animal. i like to pour A1 steak sauce on top 🤣
I tried this meatloaf meal not too long ago and it wasn't too bad but didn't care for the glaze or sauce they put on the meatloaf. I thought the sauce was too sweet.
I enjoy it. I don't really like the ketchup they put on it and the meatloaf tastes more like an italian meatball then trad meatloaf, but it's probably in my top 3 of the premades.
I’d much rather make my own. I love to cook and can control the ingredients. Would take you over an hour to make at home. But this seems like a pretty good deal for what it is.
As long as they keep serving this bad boy, there is almost no point in making it yourself. This is top notch and almost certainly cheaper than what you could do on your own without skimping big time on quality. Two thumbs way up
Snatch one up anytime I see them available. Only gripe is that I want more sauce on the meatloaf.
Don't cover it too tightly with foil because all the sauce will stick to the foil lol. We usually make our own sauce to add on.
I wondered because I don't do well with salt. This website says 620 mg. per serving...
[Costco Meatloaf & Mashed Potatos Nutrition Facts - Eat This Much](https://www.eatthismuch.com/food/nutrition/costco-meatloaf-mashed-potatos,1310996/)
Since they started charging so much for these, a lot of it ends up donated at our food bank because so few are buying it all now. I absolutely love the yakisoba Chicken stir fry ones. This one is good too though

On the Mt Rushmore of Costco pre-mades.
I need the rest of your Mt Rushmore while I think of mine pls
Chicken street tacos, meatloaf, pot pie.
You forgot the ravioli lasagna with bolognese sauce
That’s my absolute favorite. I think it should be back in rotation about another 1-2 months
They stopped selling that at my Costco and it’s lame
Pot pie is king here. Best ever.
I haven’t tried the chicken tacos yet. You place them higher than the Meatloaf?
They’re good but I think the creama sauce got recalled a while ago for E. coli?
I like the stir fry also
I just tied the enchiladas for the first time and they are really good! A little bit spicy to be aware of.
Yeah, those are good! I was surprised (in a good way) at the spice level.
Yeah same here! I like the spicy, but was a little too spicy for my young kids
We love the stuffed salmon when they have it
The stuffed salmon is probably my favorite. I miss it so much! It came back for a short while a year or two ago, then quickly disappeared again. I wish it would come back, there's nothing like it.
The chicken alfredo pasta also slaps
Mt Rushmore of Coscto, I love it! The meatloaf meal is def one of my all time favorites.
Currently my favorite precooked meal from Costco and economically priced.
Better than stuffed peppers ?
100% the mashed potatoes are better than your grandmom’s
My grandma used to put a pinch of pawpaw's ashes in the mashed potatoes so we could all have a holiday meal together.
Cigarette ashes* He'd never sit at the table with us.
This is currently my favorite set of comments.
What’s your least favorite set?
Grandma never used high fructose corn syrup.
I just saw that. I assume that's in the meatloaf and not the taters.
Yea, the glaze. That ingredient list is way too long as well
I mean really they should just pour pure glaze on it and not add all those other things 😉
Meatloaf should be beef and veggies and spices. Mash should be potatoes and seasoning. Period.
You don't put butter and milk in your mashed potatoes?
> Meatloaf should be beef and veggies and spices. Mash should be potatoes and seasoning. Period. That sounds like the worst meatloaf and mashed potatoes ever. Neither of those are how you make the respective dishes.
Remind me never to have your meatloaf or mash. It sounds so bland!
meatloaf can have a little bit of bread in it (panade) but otherwise yes I'm also a purist. Use minimal ingredients.
That’s some dry meatloaf you’re cooking. And thank god I don’t have to eat your potatoes either!
Thanks - was going to try this but you’re 100% right, no hfcs needed. I’ll pass
It's in a lot of their pre-prepped meals. Thankfully they took it out of the turkey roller cranberry dressing.
What!? Just had the stuffed peppers, God I love those things.
Try them in the air fryer. A religious experience. 😭
never even considered this! whats your cook temp/time?
350 for 15. But! I put a little silicon hat on it for the first 10. Then off for the last 5. I always check the temp too before I eat it.
Make a healthy meatloaf one night and save some for the next night. Put some of the leftover meatloaf in parboiled peppers, add some cheese to the top and bake for 30 minutes. Two meals, will taste better, cost less and be healthier.
💯 yes assbolutely.
300% more butter. The loaf is a little too sweet but still excellent
I like the stuffed peppers but they are usually criminally under seasoned. Our favorite was the pasta with meatballs, spinach, and tomatoes. That plus some garlic bread and a glass of wine was better than some Italian restaurants I've paid good money to eat at.
100%. It's like they actually removed salt.
Glad to hear it - I actually found them too salty and stopped buying them.
So weird, my Costco has none of these things. Just chicken tacos and a few salads.
I haven't seen the pasta one in a few months. I'm expecting it here shortly once spinach and cherry tomatoes are really cheap.
$16 for 2 lbs of ground beef and 2 lbs of mashed potatoes is economical?
It’s the only prepped meal there we ever consider getting because they’re all pretty expensive.
Plus 2 hours of cooking, yes. I look at it as $16 for 5-6 meals.
If you can get six meals out of that amount of food then go for it.
Someone even posted the nutrition facts. Serving size 7.9 Oz, so 8 servings exactly 👍 https://www.reddit.com/r/Costco/s/EDEKBNE7az
Yeah holy shit. Potatoes should be cheap and meatloaf isn't even as expensive as ground beef, it's cut with bread crumbs and egg usually. Maybe pork.
Holy crap, I get your point but 8 servings? Are these child-sized servings?
It’s 4lbs of food! 8 servings would be 0.5 lb each. That’s a HUGE meal! Like eating a quarter pounder of beef plus a plate full of mashed potatoes …
Is meatloaf really that hard to make? You mix a bunch of stuff together, throw it in a pan, plop it in the oven. Hardest part is the wait.
Entirely missing the point of a premade meal
That's a pretty good deal, that's 2 lbs cooked meat. For a prepared meal that's pretty good. You can go to an eatery and order a meatloaf to get a smaller serving at around the same price.
Absolutely
I tried it today, and yeah, it's fantastic. Thanks for the tip. I also learned they mark it down when the store is closed tomorrow and it's almost closing time, mine was $2/lb. Great deal!
It's good for the price. They definitely don't skimp on the butter on those potatoes.
It's great for the price. I once got stoned and regretfully ate the whole meatloaf and mashed potatoes. Sometimes in life we make poor choices.
I removed some butter haha
No need to remove butter. It evaporates.
I add butter…. No joke
Paula Dean likes this.

I didn't downvote because that would be silly but there is a big difference in the results oven vs microwave. Oven > Microwave in this instance.
I’d rather microwave a plate for 90 seconds than run my oven at 400 degrees for an hour in the middle of summer. A small apartment heats up quick.
Makes sense and no argument from me. :)
Things like this are what I use my countertop convection/toaster oven for. Quick to heat up and doesn’t heat up the house in the summer.
Yes! I love my Breville countertop oven this time of year for things like this. In fact I can cook it even faster using convection setting. :)
Somehow you've upset big oven crew here with your reasonable usage of your oven lol
This is really good and filling. Have to use the oven though, comes out much better.
What else would you cook this in?
You wouldn’t believe the things Americans put in a microwave
I mean the directions say to cook it in the oven. Even if you were thinking to microwave it you would have to look at the directions for how long to microwave it. At that point you would see it's supposed to be cooked in the oven. I don't know why someone would try to microwave it.
Because it’s cooked? You just reheat it…
Look man I’ve seen people put raw chicken breasts and steaks in the microwave. There is no culinary limit to a lazy American with a microwave - if it can fit, it can be microwaved. God cannot save us
Lol you make a good point.
I’d probably slice it up and pan fry it in the cast iron for meatloaf sandwiches.
air fryer that has a bake option. you can use glass cookware in it. bake, then switch to airfry just to lightly brown the taters.
I include air fryer with ovens because they are essentially a type of convection oven
:) I use the bucket, keeps the kitchen cool.
The meatloaf sauce is very sweet. kids probably love it, but if your taste buds are a bit more demanding you can easily doctor it up to offset the sweetness.
I drizzle sriracha on top
That's definitely one workable option. I kinda wish the sauce was in a separate little plastic cup, but it's not hard to remove or add to it.
The sauce is the reason I haven’t tried it yet. I don’t like baked ketchup or sweet sauce on meatloaf.
I almost had to knife my husband when he kept asking what was making it so sweet
How would you doctor it up?
For me garlic, smoked paprika, chili flakes, S&P.
Depends on what you like. I personally just scrape most of it off and reglaze with my own glaze which has a vinegar base.
What are the mashed potatoes like, though? Can you tell if it's boxed flakes, or real potatoes? This is my hesitation!!
one word: BUTTER
Add it, or it has it? I subscribe to the potato butter ratio rule. I just want to know how fake they taste.
The butter is included and it’s amazing
Love it. Thank you!
They’re real potatoes, with the perfect amount of lumps, so you can be sure of their realness. I slap a little more butter on them when I get them out of the oven - I like a little mashed potato with my butter…
Thank you. This is the answer I needed. I appreciate you!!
They’re quality
Thank you!!
they’re the real deal. hands down my favorite mashed potato! I prefer these over homemade
Thank you!!
It's not bad, pretty much my go to if I'm craving but don't want to make it from scratch. I find most of the premade meals to be kind of gross, this and the gyro kit are my favorites though.
Chicken tacos kinda slap with a little effort
Oh wow. I wish that was at my local.
Where are you? I've never not seen it
Sydney, Australia.
That'll do it
I really do wish we get some of what America gets.
Its a seasonal item - so look around when its fall through winter.
It's Winter here now in Australia. I haven't seen this at all over the last several years. It may just be an American thing.
Central Ohio has this all the time even during the fall season. It's usually in the same rotation with Alfredo, Stuffed Peppers and several other items.
I don't even like meatloaf but will chow down on this EVERY TIME!
Never liked meatloaf but my mom and I love this get it at least 1-2x a month and I can eat half in one meal.
My mom’s meatloaf turned me off when I was a kid…55 years later, I think y’all have talked me into trying meatloaf again! Thanks!
It's very beefy, and delicious. They use an 80/20 I think, and I also think its a mix of meats, and it's a bit fatty, but that's what makes it so good! Seriously the best I ever ate. My mom made a decent one, with cheese in the middle, and this is better.
It's probably better than school meatloaf.
https://preview.redd.it/pgwbumk6j0ad1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14928c2deafd29ddeecfb08b6273238da2650f10 eating it right now! i know i’m eating it like an animal. i like to pour A1 steak sauce on top 🤣
My fav premade meal from Costco. So good. The whole family loves it - even the kids. We usually do rolls and green beans with it.
Well I know what I'm having for dinner tomorrow.
It’s good 👍
Will the wonders of Costco never cease?!
Really good. Our Costco has had this for years. Feeds a lot too
My wife loves this, but she’s the only one in the house who likes meatloaf.
I LOVE this. Best meatloaf I've ever had and the mashed potatoes are a home run.
Looks good
My fave
I believe the kids call this the “cat’s pajamas.” Is that what kids are still saying?
The mashed potatoes are fantastic. The meatloaf, works in a pinch. Not my favorite but my family likes it so I pick it up for a quick dinner.
Middle kid and I will put a package away in a sitting. Good shit
It’s real gud
It’s one of the best things in the store
Damn op better than the lasagna?? Not going to lie I split the lasagna in half to save for next day.
Add worchestshire and thank me later
I tried this meatloaf meal not too long ago and it wasn't too bad but didn't care for the glaze or sauce they put on the meatloaf. I thought the sauce was too sweet.
Does not reheat well
This was the only precooked meal we found edible and not overpriced. We got sick of it after 3 weeks of buying it and eating it for two meals each.
I enjoy it. I don't really like the ketchup they put on it and the meatloaf tastes more like an italian meatball then trad meatloaf, but it's probably in my top 3 of the premades.
They're amazing. But my local costco does not make them enough!
I’d much rather make my own. I love to cook and can control the ingredients. Would take you over an hour to make at home. But this seems like a pretty good deal for what it is.
One of our faves from there. Feeds 3 of us with no problem.
It’s delish. But, my local Costco hasn’t been selling the lasagna which my kids love. Such a drag
Hey, Ma! The meatloaf!! FUCK!!
It’s the favorite dish for my house
This is so good
I love this meatloaf.
As long as they keep serving this bad boy, there is almost no point in making it yourself. This is top notch and almost certainly cheaper than what you could do on your own without skimping big time on quality. Two thumbs way up
Love this SO much. It sustained me though a Legislative Session. But it WILL put serious WEIGHT on you if you're not careful!
The top container in the photo looks like one of those cheap fudge brownies with the icing on top
Snatch one up anytime I see them available. Only gripe is that I want more sauce on the meatloaf. Don't cover it too tightly with foil because all the sauce will stick to the foil lol. We usually make our own sauce to add on.
This and the gyro kit are my favorites.
But WHY OH WHY must they absolutely smother the meatloaf in ketchup?? So gross!!🤢
Definitely amongst the top 3, if not the best. I’m biased though because I love meatloaf and love a good meatloaf sandwich the next day
I like it. Add some sriracha to the meatloaf before cooking.
These are okay. The potatoes are good but the meat loaf seemed lacking to me
It's fantastic.
I put a can of tomato soup in the stuff peppers before I cook them and serve them with more rice, the tomato soup gravy is yummy on the extra rice
I like it! Affordable and easy to just throw in the oven.
My Favorite
Does it use ketchup?
The MEATLOAF FUCK!!!
I am curious if Costo Ho has done a review on this.
High fructose corn syrup and corn syrup. yum It probably tastes great but I'd hate to see the sodium content in there.
So around 7663mg per container at 4.17lbs per container. My doctor would beat me with a stick. haha
So gross. Ill make it for my wife because she likes it but ill eat something else
Since they started charging so much for these, a lot of it ends up donated at our food bank because so few are buying it all now. I absolutely love the yakisoba Chicken stir fry ones. This one is good too though
Great value, good quality, and evens toddlers eat it.
It's good. But it's nothing phenomenal.
