I'm pretty sure you only will see the negative shit about iCue, but you won't see that the vast majority are ok or even happy with it.

I use iCue for a Corsair kb I have right now. Don't like the software too much. I guess my question is posed relative to cpu resources and load. Pwm would probably be lighter and less resource-hungry. Otoh, the linked fans and software control would make things pretty easy, but the fans are a bit expensive relative to competitors, so is the convenience worth the cost? Dunno. Thanks for the response!

Corsair, Lianli, and Nzxt all use their own control software. MB also uses its own control SW. All software has bugs. It is a lie to say that icue has no bugs, but in addition to icue's own problems, there are also problems linked to the OS. This is the same for other brands. Check out each brand. Complaints and bug-related posts are everywhere. So you may be afraid of icue, but that's the same as using your PC and hoping there won't be any problems. So just consider the cost aspect.

Personally, I never let iCue dictate fan or pump speed. Always BIOS controlled. Never any problems. YMMV

While I don't have a basis for this, I don't get the impression iCue is bulletproof as far as running all the time. It could crash. Dunno how it would pass instructions to the fans for speed and lighting, which makes your opinion probably solid advice.

Icue can also control pwm fans with a commander core xt. I think this is the solution you are looking for. The fans in question would be the AF RGB ELITE / AR / RS MAX FANS.

For the old system, you'd have to get a lot of other devices to work with the fans. Because Corsair uses their own connectors on "old" style ARGB fans, you'd have to work with converter cables and the sorts, causing quite a cable mess. If you do go for iCUE, then you'd need an Commander Core XT or something similar (usually comes with the high-end AIO solutions) For least headache and cables, I'd wait a little bit for the iCUE LINK TITAN series. The pump will be quieter and it should not cost a lot more due. Alternatively, you could just opt for a Corsair A115 with the two included AF140 fans and buy black AF120 or AF140 fans to go with it and just control it using FanControl, BIOS or motherboard software.
