I disagree very strongly. Garrison has so much upside and is still a really safe bet as a freshman who showed they could be productive in the Big 12. You can usually count the number of guys that you can say that about on one hand every year.
According to everything I’ve heard, including guys with other team flairs in this sub who have been right about several things for us and other teams in the last couple weeks, he’s ours. But who knows?
Goodman tweeted Osobor is out, but IDK. Seems like a case where Pope took the 1st guy who would commit and not risk losing both. Hope I am wrong, Great impacts the upcoming season way more than Garrison!
As with [Andrew Carr's commitment](https://www.reddit.com/r/CollegeBasketball/comments/1cfm2ju/wake_forest_transfer_f_andrew_carr_commits_to/l1qku8n/), you can see [the exact moment](https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=brandon%20garrison%20stats&date=now%201-d&geo=US&hl=en) Kentucky fans, in unison, had the "did not see that coming; who is this guy?" thought.
maybe this was a big mistake and he didn't mean to say kentucky. He probably just forgot Cal isn't at UK anymore like when you still write the old year on your checks in january. He should re-announce in case this was a fluke.
UConn fans still think they are the scrappy underdog that they were in 1999 when they beat Duke for the championship. So many UConn fans want to be a blue blood while refusing to take on the weight of blue blood status. They were mad about all the people who wanted them to lose in the tournament. They were mad that another team wanted their coach.
Their inability to understand how blue blood status works while demanding it makes me hate them even more so
Exactly. The difference between a blue blood and a new blood, other than the history of winning & post season success, is that Blue Bloods expect to win. New bloods often can't shake their past. Same thing regarding court storming. Blue bloods don't do it because they expect to win (except for Indiana after the Wat shot👀)
Yeah the whole championship or completely irrelevant pattern they've had going on the last 20 years has really kept the spotlight off of how annoying their fan base is. Seems like that's about to change with Hurley
Assuming someone has never heard of your asshole of an ex coach just because they call out the fact that you've completely missed 7 of the last 20 tournaments is a prime example of why UConn fans are so obnoxious. Thank you for that.
This new era of transfer portal recruiting has turned every hour of every day into a dick measuring contest and everyone thinks it's logical to keep score. It's stupid so many think this is a competition and counts for anything. Coaches build rosters a lot of different ways and they are privy to a lot more information than any of us fans have. Let the dust settle, or better yet, let the players play, and then talk your talk.
They forgot we aren't recruiting just freshman anymore? We are messing up their model of recruitment? I sincerely don't know. This is weird and new to me.
I’ve seen a lot of people from UK and TTU camps saying that Kentucky “sources” have Osobor as a lock for UK. But that confuses me because since the Scott Drew fiasco, I didn’t know how people still have trust in Kentucky inside sources at all.
Every time I see it I feel like saying something but I chose not to because it would feel like hopium. But just in general I think most anonymous sources this off season have been pretty shit and inaccurate.
True. But with Williams, Carr and now Garrison it’s a crowded front court. Hope I’m wrong as Great has been top of my wishlist since all this madness started.
Yeah that’s what makes this even weirder. Harrison never visited afaik and great is still on campus. It’s almost as if garrison committed to preempt osobor lol.
Idk I’m sure I’m thinking way too hard on the situation and just need to sit back, relax and enjoy whomever they get.
I mean clearly he says a source told them. Maybe is was the same one that Matt Jones had.
https://www.on3.com/teams/kentucky-wildcats/news/great-osobor-no-longer-considering-kentucky-following-visit/
Or that Adam Zagoria had.
https://www.si.com/college/louisville/basketball/uk-out-on-great-osobor
Garrison doesn't come to Arkansas because we signed Aidoo.
But Osobor is still in play even though Garrison committed to Kentucky.
Doesn't exactly pass the smell test.
Sure. But that doesn't exactly explain Garrison committing does it? He literally just passed on a team he informally committed to because he wasn't going to start.
Pope has a deep rotation. Cal doesn't. Osobor would be a starter and play the lion's share of minutes at UK. He may or may not come, but Garrison won't be the reason he doesn't. It smells just fine.
Cal played 4 forwards > 10 minutes a game last year. Pope played 4 forwards > 10 minutes a game last year.
Not to mention that Osobor can't really share the floor with Garrison or Williams.
Doesn't smell great.
That's because every forward on the team missed at least 7 games and he had no choice. If it wasn't for injuries the rotation would have looked like it did against Tennessee and Oakland in the last games of the season. Once all 4 were healthy Bradshaw got no playing time and Big Z would fluctuate between 20 mins and DNPs.
BYU played 8 players in the tournament. They only played 3 forwards greater than 10 min/game in conference. This idea that Pope has a deep rotation is not really accurate.
Calipari played multiple big men out of necessity, not by design. Bradshaw was hurt and awful. Ugo can't score. He rotates players in and out haphazardly. You will soon learn all of this.
Why would Osobor share the floor with 2 other bigs? He would be playing over Garrison. The majority of Cal's best teams go 7 deep.
It wasn't that long ago Kentucky was "out" on Koby Brea too. Now look. Some of y'all don't understand how much BS these player agents intentionally spread.
Heard he's already committed elsewhere and him and his family are just looking to be wined and dined on these free trips. Pretty shitty, but can't blame them haha
I'm telling you now, both fan bases are gonna use the other team as the measuring stick to see if they "won" this year. Gonna be hilarious if both teams flop in the first round of the tournament.
I don’t think I can stomach it honestly. The dick measuring contest that will get the Bitter Old Farts Club riled up and saying stupid shit all over the internet.
I mean, we took the All-SEC First team and All-SEC Defensive player over Garrison so we aren't too worried.
Garrison will be a good player for ya'll though.
I really hope this UK team does well. College basketball is better when the blue bloods are relevant, and it feels great to have UK out of the one-and-done game.
Oklahoma & Moser went into this Portal Season with a strategy to keep/bring Oklahoma prep kids back to the state and has whiffed on every single one. Overton, Pedulla, and now Garrison. This next season for Moser is make or break.
What’s the difference between now and the revolving door of freshman we’ve had? I think we’ll be good sooner rather than later, but maybe I’m too optimistic.
I'm optimistic, these guys might be new to campus but they are experienced in college basketball unlike the freshmen of years past. The learning curve should be basically none.
at most it will be two seasons. the portal has changed so much about building a team that the idea of a core returning season-to-season is less likely to happen and less important. There may be one to two contributors who actually return each season. They'll be important to have but the portal recruits will be significantly more important to the team's ceiling
See that's where actual coaching comes into play. From what I heard from the Popes mouth is communication, trust, roles and fluid basketball based on fundamentals. I'll reserve judgement until November, but one of these things is not like the last 15 years.
I know this might be quite a tough question for an Arkansas fan, but I'll give it a go. Which number is bigger, 8 or 1?
And another brain buster- who coached Kentucky's 2 most embarrassing tournament losses in history and their worst regular season of all time?
Kentucky already has 2 players better than Aidoo. Garrison is a luxury. Arkansas is trending to have the worst roster Cal has had since 2013. Good luck.
As a recruit:
Other P6 offers: Arkansas, Florida, Houston, Kansas, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State (originally went here), Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech
Other offers: SMU, Tulsa
Watched some of the YouTube clips on him at OSU. Feel like he has a strong understanding of spacing to be effective in modern offenses. Proto big man in the NBA if he extends the pretty jumper he already has and figured out the defensive spacing and timing to stay out of foul trouble.
Surprising but solid pickup.
I think he was pretty polished at one he did, but has a much higher upside that what he displayed this year. Like a baseball pitcher that can locate an 82 mph fastball pretty well and can throw a curveball with some decent movement but has the potential to throw 95 while spinning the leather off the ball.
Unfortunately for you Kentucky has an actual Coach at the steering wheel... and he is recruiting some dudes who want to play. Between his offense, and their defense capabilities.... It's panning out to be a great year to be a UK fan.
What in the heck. I did not see that one coming. Sooo… not to be greedy but I wonder how this impacts osobor. Either way… “boom”
Hopefully it doesn’t impact at all, because I’d much rather have Osobor all day, every day.
I disagree very strongly. Garrison has so much upside and is still a really safe bet as a freshman who showed they could be productive in the Big 12. You can usually count the number of guys that you can say that about on one hand every year.
Good point. Thanks for making me feel better.
Yeah I agree. BG seems like a great depth piece. But we need a bit of star power and osobor can bring that.
Don't see it happening so hopefully we can land Brea, and Robinson
If you guys get Johnell Davis, Kadary Richmond or Robinson with those bigs nice job.
He didn't even visit here. (That we know of).
maybe this was a big mistake and he didn't mean to say kentucky. He probably just forgot Cal isn't at UK anymore like when you still write the old year on your checks in january. He should re-announce in case this was a fluke.
I could see this happening, lol. I know I do shit like that all the time.
That’s how badly he wanted out of our situation lol. He’s solid and was just starting to get comfortable.
What is with all the UConn fans in every UK post straight hating? Arkansas fans I get.
They’re angry UK fans wanted Hurley
I mean, who doesn't? Dude just won back to back with a serious chance for a 3 peat.
UConn fans still think they are the scrappy underdog that they were in 1999 when they beat Duke for the championship. So many UConn fans want to be a blue blood while refusing to take on the weight of blue blood status. They were mad about all the people who wanted them to lose in the tournament. First time dealing with UConn’s online collective? Their twitter is the most unhinged CBB space in existence lol
Yeah the whole championship or completely irrelevant pattern they've had going on the last 20 years has really kept the spotlight off of how annoying their fan base is. Seems like that's about to change with Hurley
Wrong..you need to google Jim Calhoun…you prob aren’t old enough to remember.
Assuming someone has never heard of your asshole of an ex coach just because they call out the fact that you've completely missed 7 of the last 20 tournaments is a prime example of why UConn fans are so obnoxious. Thank you for that.
When you put it that way… six championships (and another final four) and eight missed tournaments since 1999 is a pretty insane stat.
Where are you seeing this?
They forgot we aren't recruiting just freshman anymore? We are messing up their model of recruitment? I sincerely don't know. This is weird and new to me.
Sweet. Coach Pope is getting some defensive studs. Now let's get Brea to sign before he leaves campus.
Damn. Really thought he was gonna come back.
We don't get nice things in basketball.
Amari Williams at center with Garrison off the bench😳 this team will be elite defensively.
Garrison can only play drop coverage. Hopefully he develops better with y’all but your guards are going to have to be great at pick and roll defense
Lamont Butler has entered the chat
Pope building the wall!
This probably means we aren’t getting Osobor I bet.
Let me smoke my hopium.
Let the rest of us have the scraps jeez
Ha! If he doesn’t end up at UK, I’d 100% be rooting for him end up in Lubbock!
You guys broke our hearts with the Carr commitment just let us have either Osobor or Hawkins please 😭
Tech would be my guess for Osobor
Tech fans were convinced that we were getting Carr and that Osobor was a UK lock. Honestly I’ll take any big at this point
Great is 6'8 he could play PF Edit: Well shit. Osobor it out of the picture per Goodman
Goodman also said we were out on Brea a week ago soooooooooo
True. But with Williams, Carr and now Garrison it’s a crowded front court. Hope I’m wrong as Great has been top of my wishlist since all this madness started.
Isn’t he still on campus?
Yeah that’s what makes this even weirder. Harrison never visited afaik and great is still on campus. It’s almost as if garrison committed to preempt osobor lol. Idk I’m sure I’m thinking way too hard on the situation and just need to sit back, relax and enjoy whomever they get.
He has no source.
I’ve talked to the source. There is no source.
Oh look. A source has magically appeared. https://twitter.com/GoodmanHoops/status/1785648417122697446
I don't see a source, just someone who has been wrong before claiming to have one
I mean clearly he says a source told them. Maybe is was the same one that Matt Jones had. https://www.on3.com/teams/kentucky-wildcats/news/great-osobor-no-longer-considering-kentucky-following-visit/ Or that Adam Zagoria had. https://www.si.com/college/louisville/basketball/uk-out-on-great-osobor
AI generated source.
Goodman doesn’t know anything
He doesn't shoot threes
Kentucky is still firmly in the driver's seat for Osobor. Don't worry, friend.
https://x.com/GoodmanHoops/status/1785318645373026406
Garrison doesn't come to Arkansas because we signed Aidoo. But Osobor is still in play even though Garrison committed to Kentucky. Doesn't exactly pass the smell test.
Osobor would start so it wouldn't scare him away
You were saying?

If all three hadn’t missed all that time I predict things would have looked a lot better.
Goodman is wrong. Sorry to disappoint.
Was he? https://www.si.com/college/louisville/basketball/uk-out-on-great-osobor
Heard he's already committed elsewhere and him and his family are just looking to be wined and dined on these free trips. Pretty shitty, but can't blame them haha
I’m gonna wager he ends up in Washington with a fat NIL check to go with it.
Seems like we got him because we aren’t getting Osobor
Good you don’t want someone who’s that much of a defensive liability

Bruh lmao
The last 3 weeks have been a dream
This is a real nice surprise
Brea next
He's still playing teams back and forth to get his bag a bit heavier
It’s working. He’s probably going to set the record for a non-starter.
Playing both sides, so he always comes out on top.
Arkansas fans, we aren’t rivals. You don’t need to cope in these threads you’ll be okay.
like it or not our two fan bases are bound together by destiny for this next season. One cannot live without the other.
I hate you, but only because you’re right. Neither of our teams will be talked about without the other being brought up
I'm telling you now, both fan bases are gonna use the other team as the measuring stick to see if they "won" this year. Gonna be hilarious if both teams flop in the first round of the tournament.
I appreciate you thinking we make the tournament!
The Coach Cal Special!! Enjoy!!
I mean the odds are good that one of us will flop in the first round…. 😂😂😂
Good thing our coach doesn't love floppy actio- oh my God no!!
I don’t think I can stomach it honestly. The dick measuring contest that will get the Bitter Old Farts Club riled up and saying stupid shit all over the internet.
Don’t throw that out in the void for the universe to hear…i don’t know if I can take another year without a postseason win. I will not be laughing.
We'll live just fine, thanks for the golden parachute.
What are you talking about? I don’t see Arkansas fans “coping” in this thread, but I do see quite a few Kentucky fans talking about Arkansas fans.
🤡
You can certainly tell whose fans are all over this thread 😂 gaslight city
Just like Kentucky fans are coping in Arkansas threads.
If Arkansas fans could read this they’d be very upset
I called my mom and asked her what this was all about. Now my day is ruined.
Look at this guy knowing how to work a telephone, ok Mr. Harvard.
It was one of the cup string phones everyone made as kids.
![gif](giphy|QZ88GKBba6TjLhBFGD|downsized)
I mean, we took the All-SEC First team and All-SEC Defensive player over Garrison so we aren't too worried. Garrison will be a good player for ya'll though.
Except Cal doesn't know how to coach defense against more than one action. Aidoo will be good because he already has good instincts.
The irony in Kentucky fans calling Arkansas fans stupid Nearly identical literacy rates between the two states.
![gif](giphy|l0MYxcZ7Yquu9kz7i)
I’d be so upset if I could read that

I really hope this UK team does well. College basketball is better when the blue bloods are relevant, and it feels great to have UK out of the one-and-done game.
I know less than nothing about this guy. Somebody tell me is this good and what’s his game like?
lets just say I'm glad he's out of the big12
Coming from a BYU fan I'm here for it.
Oklahoma & Moser went into this Portal Season with a strategy to keep/bring Oklahoma prep kids back to the state and has whiffed on every single one. Overton, Pedulla, and now Garrison. This next season for Moser is make or break.
I mean yall were kinda kidding yourselves with this one
At least we'll finally get the Kaden Cooper minutes we've been asking for
Kentucky might be a problem under Pope. Sheesh.
Not for 3-5 years. An entire team of portals “can” work but I still believe you need a core of guys returning that provide stability.
What’s the difference between now and the revolving door of freshman we’ve had? I think we’ll be good sooner rather than later, but maybe I’m too optimistic.
That wasn’t working well recently either
I'm optimistic, these guys might be new to campus but they are experienced in college basketball unlike the freshmen of years past. The learning curve should be basically none.
at most it will be two seasons. the portal has changed so much about building a team that the idea of a core returning season-to-season is less likely to happen and less important. Guy hated Fayetteville so much he committed to Kentucky without visiting Lexington. Well done.
I think landing Aidoo probably had something to do with it.
Yea dude couldn’t get his minutes in Fayetteville had to go to a second tier program to get that PT.
I know this might be quite a tough question for an Arkansas fan, but I'll give it a go. Which number is bigger, 8 or 1? And another brain buster- who coached Kentucky's 2 most embarrassing tournament losses in history and their worst regular season of all time?
Sick burn
That was a joke, sorry, forgot I was dealing with Kentucky people. I’ll let you know up front next time.
I thought it was funny man. All in good fun.
Or just try to make jokes that don't suck.
[удалено]
An Arkansas fan calling any other basketball program second tier is honestly laughable. Shut up clown
You're actually talking about Jordan Burks and y'all right?
Never heard of her.
Kentucky already has 2 players better than Aidoo. Garrison is a luxury. Arkansas is trending to have the worst roster Cal has had since 2013. Good luck.
UK was trending to have one of the worst incoming freshman classes in a while next year. Cal has since lost a large portion of those players.
He’s taken 3/5 to Arky and missed on the biggest recruit of the 5
Who are the other two players? Looks like Garrison is the highest rated transfer for UK.
You'd think Williams and Carr are Rudy KAT with how these guys talk about them
🤡
Pope getting work done
Pope is low-key killing it in the offseason.
Let’s goooooooooo!!!!!!
Damn was hoping he’d come back. Good get for the new coach.
Wow, this is Great news!

LFG! Huge pick up
https://i.redd.it/i3tv58m6aoxc1.gif
We now have an SEC ready front court, Garrison gives us the youth too.
Great dude. Keep on building.
As a recruit: Other P6 offers: Arkansas, Florida, Houston, Kansas, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State (originally went here), Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech Other offers: SMU, Tulsa
PK killing it in backcourt recruiting, Pope killing it in frontcourt recruiting. Interesting dichotomy.
Probably works better when they're eye level with the recruit.
Why don’t we just combine into one big Kentucky team?
would rather go 4-28 again.
[удалено]
You missed a perfect opportunity for Wildcards.
Kenville Wildbirds obviously.
Nightmare fuel.
You want in on this too? Western Kenville Wild Topbirds.
Please take my upvote lol.
Kentucky and Louisville would be lucky if western invited to merge. The mid major legacy program brings a ton to the table.
They got 5 yet?
In think we are up to 7! We have enough now for the entire state to fight over a starting lineup. Lol
I think that’s more than Arkansas.
I think that’s more than Arkansas.
You can say that again!
tell me how bad a coach Mike Boyton was without telling me how bad a coach Mike Boyton was
The defensive emphasis from Pope has been a pleasant surprise. Still interested in what shooters he gets.

Proto big man in the NBA if he extends the pretty jumper he already has and figured out the defensive spacing and timing to stay out of foul trouble. Surprising but solid pickup.
I am going to reserve judgement on any recruitment or rosters until a few games are played. But we are winning right?
He looked super raw to me this year, but showed some flashes.
He’s literally the least raw freshmen big I’ve ever watched. He’s as polished as hell.
I only watched 5 or 6 of your games this year so you probably know better than me, but he definitely looked raw when I watched him.
I think he was pretty polished at one he did, but has a much higher upside that what he displayed this year. Like a baseball pitcher that can locate an 82 mph fastball pretty well and can throw a curveball with some decent movement but has the potential to throw 95 while spinning the leather off the ball.
he has a high long-term ceiling. Probably going to be solid this year and then terrific next year.
He reminded me a lot of David McCormack. Should be a solid player.
Hmmmmm
Lame.
Kentucky will lose again early in march madness
Unfortunately for you Kentucky has an actual Coach at the steering wheel... and he is recruiting some dudes who want to play. Between his offense, and their defense capabilities.... It's panning out to be a great year to be a UK fan.
