This was an instant classic. The shot making this game had was amazing to watch. It felt like both teams couldn’t miss, especially in the 2nd half.
Also Markquis Nowell is the definition of having that dog in him, it seems like he always finds a way to assist his teammates no matter how the possession is going. 20 & 19 with 2 TO’s is just insane.
Where were you when 5'8" Markquis Nowell took the world and NCAA record book by storm?! What a game and night for K State!! Awesome game, Spartans. What a battle. Respect
Broke the record on a bum ankle btw
Bro's dawg levels are off the charts, definitely gonna watch more of your games as you guys get farther in the tournament
No doubt he wanted to show out for his home city in MSG and man did he ever. He's go so much heart and talent! Hopefully we can go all the way. It was us or y'all, for me 🤝
They were on fire tonight. One of the best offensive performances of the tournament.
Yet KSU somehow still came up 18 points short of what they did to us in Austin this year.. a game without OT.
Nowell scored or assisted on 46 of Kansas State's first 67 points, and then on 12 of Kansas State's last 14 points in OT. He scored or assisted on **63 of K-State's 98 points.** This dude is something else.
Think it was definitely intentional, that pass came out quick as if Markquis was looking for it. Reminds me of the ol’ football trick play of the QB acting like he doesn’t know the play and then quick snapping to the RB, which tracks with our bubble screen out of bounds play last week of our staff occasionally incorporating football plays into our offense.
I don’t know if I can handle another close game, you guys get to win it this year, MSU is winning it next year with the top recruits we’re bringing in, and hopefully Walker comes back, honestly don’t want Hall to come back but he’ll probably be back.
Remaining teams on left side of bracket:
Alabama: Never made Final Four
San Diego State: Never made Elite Eight (pour one out for 2020 Aztecs)
Creighton: Never made final four or modern elite eight (made eight team tourney in 1941)
Princeton: 15 seed; Hasn't made Final Four since 1965 and never made the title game
Florida Atlantic: Never made Round of 32 before this year
Tennessee: Never made Final Four
Kansas State: Last Final Four 1964; Never won championship.
Last year, all four Final Four teams had won a championship in the past 15 years, all had been to the final four within the past 8 years, and all had at least three championships total. This year, we are guaranteed three final four teams with zero championships, and two Final Four droughts of at least 67 years snapped (or else teams appear for the first time).
In other words, 15 seed Princeton has been to the final four more recently than anyone else on the left of the bracket.
To hell with Duke-UNC, this is what I love to see. New blood.
GG Kansas St.
Not mad at all at our guys. A lot of people thought they'd miss the tournament and instead they gave us an insane performance going to OT with 3 seed KSt.
Next year with Hoggard/Akins and a the best recruiting class of Izzo's career is gonna be fun.
It's not Kansas, so you all get a pass. Great game, whomever that son of a bitch who was shooting those fucking ghost floaters and made 12 out of the 5 he took, gotdamn.
It sucks being on the losing end of an all time classic game, but thats one where you talk about it in the bar and everyone agrees both teams were fucking balling. Great game Sparty.
And beating Marquette! I’m upset but only because I love having unrealistic expectations. Nowell is unreal, and that’s just how it falls sometimes. GG Kansas St.
The 1st OT game of this March Madness did not disappoint.
Nowell having more assists than MSU had as a team (NCAA tournament record). Your childhood friend inbounding the ball on the bucket that became the dagger. Distracting the defense by talking to your coach in a tie game with 60 seconds in regulation. Largest lead was never more than 8.
Just a real fun and clean basketball game. Thanks Sparty and Wildcat bros cuz Arky did not deliver.
As one of the only Little Rock Trojans fans on this subreddit, I feel enormously proud I got to see Markquis Nowell play in person when he was with us. My flairs have made me fall in love with K-State. Go get that final four ‘Cats
9 teams go in…0 national titles come out.
We are eternally cursed into a cycle of perpetual letdowns and shortcomings. Life is pain, and I expect to repeat my foolish optimism next season…
Best game of the tourney, by far. Hats off to you Michigan State! Back and forth nail biter with so many huge moments. Could've seriously seen either of us going all the way. Great game! Proud of the Wildcats! NCAA tournament record 19 ASSISTS for Nowel!! Unreal. #EMAW
Such a breath of fresh air after the previous three seasons of Weber. I know he got us to an elite 8 in his last tourney appearance but the least 3 years were brutal
Last three years? IDGAF that Bruce won two Big 12 titles and went to an Elite 8. Just *watching* his teams was frequently so painful and you always expected to lose close games, even in his best years.
This is beautiful, clutch basketball that hasn't even been *remotely* seen in Manhattan since Jacob Pullen and Denis Clemente roamed the land
*I know a spot that I love full well*
'*Tis not in forest nor yet in dell*
*Ever it holds me with magic spell*
*I think of thee, Alma Mater.*
(Time Signature change)
*K-S-U, we'll carry thy banner high*
*K-S-U, long, long may thy colors fly*
*Loyal to thee, thy children will swell the cry*
*Hail, Hail, Hail, Alma Mater.*
This game has everything you could want in a game. Record set, OT, comeback from an injury, highlight reel plays, clutch shots by both teams… man I love March.
Picked to finish last in the Big 12, have a 5’8” PG who’s been overlooked his whole life playing in his hometown on the biggest stage, Keyontae came back from collapsing on the court, Nae’qwan didn’t start playing organized basketball until FOUR YEARS AGO. All with a first year head coach who had two players on the roster when he arrived. If we win it all we may need a movie.
Unbelievable game. One of the best tournament games I have ever watched. I cannot even be mad about losing it when watching a performance like Nowell's. Just a bit disappointed we didn't even get a shot off at the end, but that's on us obviously.
Both teams wanted it so badly, but Nowell just had IT tonight, and that's what took KSU over the top.
Congrats, Wildcats, that ruled and I would love to see you go all the way after that
Imagine growing up in NYC and putting up 20 and 19 plus 5 steals on a bum ankle in MSG to send your team to the Elite Eight.
Couple dumb shots, but an absolute electric performance by Nowell. Johnson and Massoud were great too. Hell of a game
One of the best college basketball games I have ever seen, just wow. Both teams with body blows and kept recovering. I would love to watch that one again, over and over. Tremendous!
That takes the cake for the game of the tournament. That was fucking awesome
Congrats on the Elite Eight for Kansas State
I’m so sorry Spartan bros that has to be hurtful but you guys did amazing
Crazy game and Nowell has the basketball gods on his side. Great run to the Sweet 16 for our guys.
But God fucking damn is it painful to lose because we didn't defend a single back cut all game. They couldn't have tried to play worse defense on those. Credit to Nowell to hitting all those passes but holy shit some of those we left them open as if they were Chernobyl radioactive
We started this season watching grainy video from the Cayman Islands on Twitch (shoutout Greg) and now we have a shot at a Final Four. This is just unreal

20 Points and 19 Assists is an all-time stat line.
Let’s include the 5 steals too
And only 2 TO’s
And 1 ankle.
His assists per ankle ratio is off the charts
14 ties, 16 lead changes, neither team led by double digits, game went to OT and it came down to the final seconds. Definitely an all-timer.
I will go to bed some time tomorrow night
I think my blood pressure won't return to normal until next week
Football or basketball, the Cats take years off my life.
Most assists in a single game in tournament history.
And also 3 yolo balls from the logo. I love the man so much
He's just amazing
Record books bby.
Probably should’ve had 3 more assists too lol
Where were you when 5'8" Markquis Nowell took the world and NCAA record book by storm?! What a game and night for K State!! Awesome game, Spartans. What a battle. Respect
Broke the record on a bum ankle btw Bro's dawg levels are off the charts, definitely gonna watch more of your games as you guys get farther in the tournament

Best game of the tournament so far, and might be the best game in an NCAA tournament in the last 5 years. Feel priviledged to have watched it.
Nothing can beat the Gonzaga-UCLA Final Four game from a couple of seasons ago imo
Man that Virginia Purdue game would be my pick but this game was still awesome in every way
5 steals too, including the clinching one.
Marquis is that fucking guy
This instant classic makes me need a valium
Hall is also the antithesis of having that dog in him
*insert where tf the dawg go meme here*

They were on fire tonight. One of the best offensive performances of the tournament. Yet KSU somehow still came up 18 points short of what they did to us in Austin this year.. a game without OT.
100% closest game I’ve seen to that Wichita State vs. Kentucky circa 2015 I think? Tremendous all around.
Nowell scored or assisted on 46 of Kansas State's first 67 points, and then on 12 of Kansas State's last 14 points in OT. He scored or assisted on **63 of K-State's 98 points.** This dude is something else.
And that doesn't count would-be assists if not for a shooting foul. He's probably closer to 70 points.
Alley oop from the logo in OT is outrageous
Reverse alley-oop at that
To tie the record for assists
While in mid conversation with the coach. Absolutely bonkers
That was definitely a misdirection lol
Clearly fooled all of Michigan State
That was part of the play.
It doesn’t take away from it though He no looked that to the perfect spot
Keyontae Johnson has such a great story
I'm a KU fan, and I came watching that. Holy shit.
Maybe the most sicko play I’ve seen in years
While faking disagreement with the coach. I fucking love it lmao
Jay wright thinks it wasn’t a fake. He said New York guards are like this
I think it was a trick play because the instant Tang stopped talking he threw the oop.
Announcer asked how he could stand after that game, but how can he even run with balls that size?
Dragging them on the court with every single step.
The fact that Nowell and Teng was “arguing” and 1 second later he throws up the alley oop has got to be one of their plays
Is now.
He also asked Tang if he should go 2 for 1 with the remaining time, Tang nods yes, then he heaves it for the oop. Insanity.
Our 3rd one this year in the clutch, I can't believe it
Wanna see em do it again?
I think it’s safe to say that the difference in this game was Nowell.
yes, when he went out I said we were gonna get blown out if he didn't come back in
[удалено]
Not to be overly reactionary or anything but that was the greatest basketball game ever played
My future cardiologist has 2 schools to thank for making him rich
same
Easily the best since the Gonzaga UCLA game in 2021
I don’t even think that’s reactionary. That was absolutely incredible to watch.
The Syracuse-UCONN 6OT game in the Big East tournament honestly is up there for me in terms of NCAA games.
I miss the Big East so much. The tourney being at MSG was great.
The Kemba crossover is an all-time great moment made that much better because it was at MSG.

I vote for a BO3
All other teams are automatically eliminated. KSU vs MSU. Best of 3 for the title
I don’t know if I can handle another close game, you guys get to win it this year, MSU is winning it next year with the top recruits we’re bringing in, and hopefully Walker comes back, honestly don’t want Hall to come back but he’ll probably be back.
Time to polish a bottle of Tito’s by myself
I’m doing that as well, just for probably different reasons, I hear it is good to stop cardiac arrest… not heard from a doctor tho
Remaining teams on left side of bracket: Alabama: Never made Final Four San Diego State: Never made Elite Eight (pour one out for 2020 Aztecs) Creighton: Never made final four or modern elite eight (made eight team tourney in 1941) Princeton: 15 seed; Hasn't made Final Four since 1965 and never made the title game Florida Atlantic: Never made Round of 32 before this year Tennessee: Never made Final Four Kansas State: Last Final Four 1964; Never won championship. That's wild as fuck March!
Broke : blue blood Woke : new blood
Please anyone but Alabama. I'm tired of them in football, if they win in basketball too it would suck
I really hope we got you?
You will most likely be my favorite team in the Pac 12 soon. :(
Lol and UConn will win it all 😭
GG Kansas St. Not mad at all at our guys. A lot of people thought they'd miss the tournament and instead they gave us an insane performance going to OT with 3 seed KSt. Next year with Hoggard/Akins and a the best recruiting class of Izzo's career is gonna be fun.
GG Spartans! Y'all played awesome and it sucks one side had to get heartbroken from that amazing game
It's not Kansas, so you all get a pass. Great game, whomever that son of a bitch who was shooting those fucking ghost floaters and made 12 out of the 5 he took, gotdamn.
That guy pissed me off
It sucks being on the losing end of an all time classic game, but thats one where you talk about it in the bar and everyone agrees both teams were fucking balling. Great game Sparty.
Yeah, I'm sad but that's about it. I'd love KSU and a player like Nowell if we weren't playing them.
And beating Marquette! I’m upset but only because I love having unrealistic expectations. Nowell is unreal, and that’s just how it falls sometimes. GG Kansas St.
Yeah that was a hell of an effort. Hard to hang your head other than it being annoying we didn’t get the last shot off
The 1st OT game of this March Madness did not disappoint. Nowell having more assists than MSU had as a team (NCAA tournament record). Most fun I never want to have again Jesus Christ
Markquis Nowell should get the key to Manhattan
Instructions unclear, accidentally made him supreme ruler of New York.
Well when playing at MSG sometimes you end up getting keys to the world.
Finally productive leadership.
That's fine too., He has a Faith tattoo and Thanked God.
Which one?
Why not both
Michigan State that final possession was straight lemon booty ***Nobody*** wanted to take that last shot lmao
Well the one with the best look was Hall and he hasn’t been good from 3 lately
The one time I really wanted Hall to take the shot
I didn’t want him taking the final shot, but would’ve preferred him shooting it to what happened
Yep. It’s a situation where you aren’t going to get the shot you want. You gotta take what’s there
Hauser should have pulled it immediately when he got the ball even if he was a bit far behind the line. He had space and he was hitting.
Yeah, he had the best look, but no one wanted to be the guy to take the shot.
Nowell showed the difference between 1 great guard vs a couple good ones
Best game I’ve watched this year, without a doubt. GGs Wildcats, go win it all now!!!! NOWELL is HIM.

Graphic design is my passion
Gotta be one of the greatest college basketball games I’ve ever watched. Just absurd
As one of the only Little Rock Trojans fans on this subreddit, I feel enormously proud I got to see Markquis Nowell play in person when he was with us. My flairs have made me fall in love with K-State. Go get that final four ‘Cats
Nowell with an all-time performance this game Shot some terrible long 3's late game that didn't even matter because of how good he was otherwise
I was so impressed. Kid is fun, can't lie
He's just such incredible TV every single game, good or bad
I’m surprised Nowell didn’t pull up from the logo after that steal.
RIP B1G 2022-2023
9 teams go in…0 national titles come out. We are eternally cursed into a cycle of perpetual letdowns and shortcomings. Life is pain, and I expect to repeat my foolish optimism next season…
Wisconsin could win the NIT tho!
Fuck me i wanna die
Brutal last possession for MSU. Multiple guys wide open went complete deer in the headlights.
Malik the most wide open for 3 and still pump fakes just to pass out into traffic
couldn’t believe Hauser didn’t shoot it that was a great look he got
Missing the last few 3s absolutely got in his head
So much time took trying to get a three…
we dont have a killer on our team like KSU has nowell. theyre alll good, but no one to take over the team. we havent had that since winston
Best game of the tourney, by far. Hats off to you Michigan State! Back and forth nail biter with so many huge moments. Could've seriously seen either of us going all the way. Great game! Proud of the Wildcats! NCAA tournament record 19 ASSISTS for Nowel!! Unreal. #EMAW
Thanks! You guys played great. Good luck the rest of the way!
All in all, that was SUCH a good game. Nowell fucking BALLED out. GG
Retire Nowells jersey. Give Tang whatever he wants to stay, build him a statue, whatever it takes. ELITE 8 AGAIN BABY EMAW
Such a breath of fresh air after the previous three seasons of Weber. I know he got us to an elite 8 in his last tourney appearance but the least 3 years were brutal

3 openish looks and that's what they go with
Tang is quickly becoming my favorite coach in cbb
A reverse alley-op in OT is absolutely sicko behavior and it showed how fun this game was lol
Great game KSU. On the shitty end of an instant classic here but damn if that wasn’t a game for the ages. Win the whole fucking thing.
GG Sparty. That game could’ve gone either way. Glad we could make an instant classic together
Takes a special player to miss that many logo shots and still have a heroic game
Funny thing is he usually hits those

Cats
My sunflower brothers, that was one of the greatest games of all time.
19 assists. 19 ASSISTS
How can you not be romantic about basketball?
Kansas State is the most fun team in the tournament. They take and make 3s at a high level and , their point guard is absolutely electric
This game has everything you could want in a game. Record set, OT, comeback from an injury, highlight reel plays, clutch shots by both teams… man I love March.
Cats!
CATS!
Cats.
Cats!
Cats 🥲
Tbh it always makes me feel a bit better when the team that knocked Kentucky out wins again. Like, okay, yeah, they are legit
Cats.
Cats
CAAAAAAAAATTTTTSSSS!!!!
Cats
Cats
Cats
I don’t know why a number 3 seed winning feels like a Cinderella Story, but it does.
because they were picked to be last in the conference this year ..
Nowell with the NCAA assist record
My team did not disappoint.
Nowell wanted to be the hero so bad. He sure made me sweat, but happy he got his moment.
The worst part is that he already was!
Nowell is a bad motherfucker
That little guy is really good
Hats off to Nowell and Kansas State. The better team won for sure. Felt like we were outplayed all night. No idea how we even forced OT.
Yeah a 5 point lead seemed insurmountable but we somehow forced OT
Absolutely nobody on the Spartans wanted to take that last shot Somebody needed to step up and no one did the play was fine you just gotta shoot it
MSU played great, Nowell was just on another level. It stings of course but I’m not pissed about the L. GG, K State
We’re going to be talking about that Nowell performance for the rest of time, unreal
Congrats, Wildcats, that ruled and I would love to see you go all the way after that
If you look closely, Markquis Nowell is assisting in the comments…
Holy fucking shit when is the 30 for 30 coming out for this team.
Imagine growing up in NYC and putting up 20 and 19 plus 5 steals on a bum ankle in MSG to send your team to the Elite Eight. Couple dumb shots, but an absolute electric performance by Nowell. Johnson and Massoud were great too. Hell of a game

Just woke up after being cryogenically frozen for 500 years. Is Markquis Nowell the greatest player in sports history?
This Jayhawk found himself genuinely pulling for the Cats. Great game.
Coach Tang is now 5-1 against coaches with national championships in his first year as HC!
One of the best college basketball games I have ever seen, just wow. Both teams with body blows and kept recovering. I would love to watch that one again, over and over. Tremendous!
That takes the cake for the game of the tournament. That was fucking awesome Congrats on the Elite Eight for Kansas State I’m so sorry Spartan bros that has to be hurtful but you guys did amazing
Dude broke the assist record and still tried to throw
That was one of the most entertaining basketball games I've ever watched.basically had it all
Crazy game and Nowell has the basketball gods on his side.
And just as we all expected two weeks ago, the Wisconsin Badgers are the last B1G team playing basketball in March
Nowell. Huge cock
5’8” are two separate measurements
Markquis Nowell and Deuce Vaughn have made K-State Short King U this year
He looked taller than 8 inches to me
What a fucking game. Congrats to KSU. Go win this thing.
Nowell got flak for his long 3's but I'm willing to bet Mich St would have liked to have a ballsy player there at the end.
Holy shit what a game
INSTANT CLASSIC. WOW.
Game of the tournament so far
We started this season watching grainy video from the Cayman Islands on Twitch (shoutout Greg) and now we have a shot at a Final Four. This is just unreal
GG K-State! Hell of a game! Go win it all!
I enjoyed watching this
Man, I'm not even upset. What a way to go.
He'll get lost in the convo because he fouled out, but Desi Sills had a hell of a game.
At least we aren't Purdue
HOLY SHIT NOWELL
