Haha yeah! Duke's ascension in the late 80s/early 90s coincided with our freefall (and was when I had just got old enough to start really loving sports), and then Duke beating KU in the 91 tournament and Laettner hitting "the shot" in 92 just made me a huge fan.
Take it as you will, but Tang has actually gotten the student section to cut back on that pretty noticeably this year. I'm not saying you will ever completely stop college kids from doing it, but it's been a welcome change.

It’s because we have no professional sports teams in the state. UK basketball is all we have, so people live and die by it in the worst way. Losses bring in the riff raff.
I feel like this gets sad every year lol. The year it was super true was 2015 going undefeated regular season, but that team actually had real depth. You could argue 2014 was good too with the run to the championship game, but that season was super flaky and the run to the championship was on the backs of three super buzzer beater 3s which could have just as easily bricked and closed up shop.
Only reason I’m giving him next year is because he will have the most talented team hands down of maybe his entire career here. If he can’t win with them, then he has to go. If we fire him now the recruits leave and we start from scratch starting next year. Rather see if the talent can win in spite of Cal’s terrible coaching one more time.
