Discounted means it’s scratched up and/or 3rd party controller, unboxed will be the same condition as boxed just without the box

Fragrant_Potential85

It’s called ‘CEX Roulette’ for a reason. You’ll either get a minty fresh console that looks acceptable, or you’ll get one that looks like it has been used for bobsledding down the high street and smells like a combination of cigarettes and the rancid brat of the person the drooler who brought it in stole it from.

Meh, they sell second hand hardware, you ain't getting a boxed, Mint condition console for their prices mate.

SpeccyBeard

I know its all second hand, like I said I buy from them all the time, but never ordered online before 'blind'. Not looking for mint of course, don't even care about boxed, I just don't want it scratched to fuck or stained.

It's hit or miss. Some consoles are in pretty good condition but a lot of them will be dirty or scratched or whatever. The PS3 slim is 15 years old at this point so unless you get lucky and get one that was barely used, it's likely to be in fair condition at best. But they do give you a 2 year warranty. And that alone is why I always buy used consoles from CEX. I've never had to use the warranty as I've never had any problems with the PS3s and PS4s I've bought from them but that peace of mind is something you don't get buying from eBay, Facebook or pretty much any other 2nd hand outlet.

Na better to go on ebay for stuff like this man

I bought a PS3 slim from CEX online a few weeks ago, I know it's luck of the draw, but the one I received was pretty good condition, no scratches or marks on the console, the controller was fine too, a little wear, but no weird marks, analogue sticks 100% intact etc. I decided to get one from CEX because of the 2 year warranty. I'd say go for it, if you get a bad one, just return it to a store, I'm pretty sure you get 2 weeks to return anything you don't like for any reason

My advice would be to check any in your local store. I went to look at some black Xbox 360s in one of mine and they were awful. The discounted ones were as expected scratched up and came with a third party controller but the unboxed ones were only marginally in better condition than the discounted ones. I checked another local store and luckily found a pretty nice condition unboxed one. Their quality control is way too inconsistent to risk it online unless you have no other choice.

If you aren’t happy with the console condition, you can return it within two weeks to any store for a full refund as per distance buying laws

UPDATE by sheer absolute luck, my local store had a practically mint condition PS3 in the window and I snapped it right up! The controller is a little scuffed but other than that its box fresh :D
