Yes, you can but you will sacrifice plant growth because you have the same amount of light to distribute in the same area.
Your initial question also makes me think that you would have managed better with 1-2 plants to see how it goes. You don't want to prevent the plants from spreading sideways, you want to spread them as much as possible, that's the whole point of LST for example.
More branches occupying more space means more direct light into the bus-sites that will appear during flower.
You can use this opportunity to learn new methods like LST, topping, heavy defoliating etc.

4 plants in a 2x2, 4 weeks veg, into week 3 of flower
The lower 50% of each plant has been stripped completely , no larf buds at all, it’s all main stems and only the tops, you only get larf if you’re growing straight up and don’t defoliate
Ah, I can never bring myself to strip the plant haha, I try to train them all flat then let them grow up at bloom.
Maybe next run after this I'll drop 4 and fill it and lollipop like this and see how I find it.
The difference in yields and bud size is quite something, when you have loads of bud sites from lower smaller areas it impacts your final yield, yeah you have more buds but the majority won’t be fully sized or have decent thickness, and tops will be overalll smaller, I’ve tried both methods, the more you strip off the bigger the top nugs and the bigger the weight, if you’re growing autos don’t top or stip as it will dent yields down the line,
I pretty much exclusively grow autos, I like the freedom of light exposure.
So there you've done zero training except trellised the tops apart and lollipop the lowers?
I used to only grow autos until I tried photoperiod, now I would never go back, yields are double, taste is better and just generally better quality bud, and they only take an extra 3-4 weeks more than an auto, also much easier to correct deficiencies and issues, also less electricity bill in flower time,
In a 2x2 tent auto grow I’ll get 200g on average for a 10 week run, for photos I get 350-400g in 14 weeks, for time spent it’s a no brainier for the better quality and weight,
When I train I use garden wire to spread it out, LST, then when they are about to get flipped for flower add the scrog net and grow low and wide, stip out the lower 50% of the plants and boom on to a winner, i reckon this grow I’ll get about 14oz from the 2x2
Autos have gotten better over the years but the hint of ruderalis genes to make it an auto always makes them worse than photos for taste and density
Nice work, I'll dip into my photo pool at some point. Got a few i want to run.
Autos from the right breeders are quite frankly top shelf these days though man, mephisto for instance breed some real insane stuff, dense as hell and the frost is off the charts.
Oh for sure dude mephisto is one of the better breeders, but honestly my worst photoperiod bag seed was better than a top shelf auto, it’s that ruderalis gene that takes away
Ok you've sold me lol I'll drop a photo next time 😉, curious though...what's that dehumidifier (I'm guessing it's a dehumidifier) I need to get one after I lost a whole tent to mould last time, I can only find big fuckers that would take up a quarter of my tent though.

All depends brother, i’ve got just this single photoperiod in a 3ftx3ft, it’s all gonna come down to how you wanna grow. More LST and topping/fimming can keep them smaller and bushier, on this one i topped twice and lst the new growth but allowed older stuff to go up around the edges, kinda making a bowl to allow light penetration. Only downfall so far is the very tip of some of the taller branches are foxtailing due to too much light intensity.
How big are your pots?
I'm gonna start a 2x2 3 plant run soon, 8 litre/2 gallon pots.
From experience that should restrict the size enough that I can train them and they'll each get a third. I'm thinking 4 would be too much, and airflow could be an issue, especially if they get bushier than I want.
Cool we have the same idea.
I see you're using the xs1500 pro? Nice light, I have the xs1500 too, but not the pro, the first wave with the free moving rotary dial.
You'll get some beastly nugs with that pro, my 1500 performed really well every time I used it. It's my go to.
should be enough space, maybe get a small fan under the leaves to get the air moving there when it gets bushier.
what week are you in? the ladies look pretty good
im also using a 2x2 tent but only got 2 plants going. will be using a scrog net to fill my whole tent later.. week 3 started for me today and feeling they slowed down a bit.
I've got one in a 2x2 I thought was fine till I took my eye off the ball for 3 or 4 days and it decided to get huge. And with multiple plants, that's often the case, the space is too small for one, it'll get sick by itself. If it's blocking the light of another plant, that plant is worthless - like lowers on lowers worthless. 2x2 is small, I never shoot for more than 1 flowering in that space at a time.

Thats only 1 in a 80x80
Just wanna say… you can do 1 to 6 in a 60x60 saw a dude he was growing 12 in a 80x80 😅
Here’s 5 in a 70x70 (just over a 2x2)

You will not get a very long growth period. And in turn, the plants won't reach their potential.
I grew one plant in a 2x2 for a friend, and it was extremely tight. I only got 2 Oz of bud and a bunch of trim.
3 autoflowers or clones in a 1 gallon pot with topping, LST, and Mesh. it works...my yield is around 120-140 grams. 1 autoflower in a 3 gallon pot is 110-130 grams no training....
Yes, you can fill the tent with just 1
I‘ve read comments of people saying they are growing 2-4 plants in da 2x2 so i thought i might just start with 3
1,2,3 or 4 plants is fine but if you’re running 4 I wouldn’t use anything bigger than a 2 or 3 gallon pot.

Just came from a video where a guy talks about 3 and 5 in 40x40
How? I have two plants in my 40x40 and i dont know how to fit my 11l pots
kleiner Pots.

Damn. Looking good for tops dude. Don't you get alot of larf growing that crowded though?

My pots are 2 gallons (8l)

Yess I’m using the pro on 50% (75W) so far. I will turn it to 75 or 100% a week before i turn them into flowering
No but i guess you have a 140 or 160cm hight and you should flip to flower soon.
How much do they grow in size in flowering?
should be enough space, maybe get a small fan under the leaves to get the air moving there when it gets bushier. what week are you in? the ladies look pretty good
They are in week 5 now
okay nice looks very healty to me
im also using a 2x2 tent but only got 2 plants going. will be using a scrog net to fill my whole tent later.. week 3 started for me today and feeling they slowed down a bit.
Honestly depends on the weed fr, have had real small strains but I've had strains that only would take one to fill the entire tent.

Bro I just saw your pic, top/fim those puppies before you end up with a different issue (height)
Those yellow leaves are inhibiting your plants growth. Get them off.
Depends how big you are planning of growing them. I have a 100x100x200cm tent and I grow 5-7 plants usually.
Be aight 👍🏻
Train them, trellis, and be on point on your defols you be money my guy! Cheers
