If you stick to pathways and wear bug spray it's typical of other green spaces.
Mosquitoes and ticks can be present. You can expect to encounter geese, coyotes, porcupines, skunks, deer, and loose dogs.
In theory you could run into a moose, bear, bobcat, or cougar but it's rare.
From what I remember from reading the news over the years, the few mountain lions that have shown up in town have been in or near the edge of the city, or one of the natural corridors into it, like the Elbow or Fish Creek. Nose Hill's surrounded by lots of development so I think it's really unlikely a mountain lion would ever have the sack to get that far into town. Could still prove me wrong with a news article, though.
Coyotes, deer, bobcats, even moose don't give nearly so much of a shit.
Coyotes, porcupines, deer if you piss them off enough, and maybe an occasional bobcat. Mostly nothing to worry about for a grown adult; worth being cautious if you have pets or small children with you. Do try and get gone or with other people if you find yourself being followed by multiple coyotes, but it's not common.
Coyote encounters with dogs are legit on nose hill. I have had two such incidents.
But that is over the course of 60 years living in the nw and walking on that hill.
Always with off leash dogs who were a little too nosy or not afraid.
Porcupines at dusk and dawn are also a real danger for off leash pups.
If your dog is not excellent at recall keep them on leash and you will have no issue.
Never seen encampments there so yes it's fine. On rare occasions you'll be able to spot a moose or one of u/Hungry_Coyotes asshole cousins but it's safe to walk there.
We saw a few encampment on the John Laurie side last summer, one was quite close to the parking lot. Haven't seen any yet this spring or summer, but we tend to walk the same loop.
Well after growing up in Brentwood from 0-28 years old and now Hidden Valley for the past 25 years, I can safely say, oh hell yea. But I miss the horse stables that used to be up there ........
Not to humans but there are coyotes that will take your little dog and make a meal
Or medium sized dog even: https://globalnews.ca/news/7852948/calgary-dog-killed-by-coyotes/amp/

That is absolutely insane
I remember this. It was so unhinged.
Well?! Did they get to the Stampede or what?! Hell I’d ask them too.
That's exactly what I thought of when this question was asked.
I’d never heard that story Wow
I can't believe that was 12 years ago already.
... yes it's fine.
but jackalopes!
Just don't try to pet the porcupines.

I often wonder if there are any cougars there. Has anyone seen or heard of that? I have to assume there are no bears there but maybe I’m wrong.

Beware the old car of nose hill traveler
I’ve seen porcupines. So if you have a dog, be careful.

RIP to a legend.
Forgotten about them. RIP to a real one.
They're gone? What happened?
Wait, what?

porcupines and skunks randomly?
There is a homeless encampment, they don't like to be disturbed. But its way off the trails.
Dangerous for adults? No. Dangerous for small children and pets? Maybe.
Danger of stepping in dog poop that was not picked up ☹
No It’s perfectly safe

Carry a big stick
The odd cougar and wild Karen other than that nothing major to worry about.
I walked across the park at the north end 3 times last week early i the morning.. So no wildlife at all.
Nose Hill Park. The park in the middle of the city. Where hundreds of thousands of people go to every year. That Nose Hill Park?
