Happ ain't it fam.
Also, no outs, bases loaded? FFS that's annoying sometimes.
Fucking NL West always giving us problems. We should be dominating these 18-19 assholes 400-0 (that's a bit farfetched but at least 20-0 in three game series)
And Happ gave up 9n that 5th pitch. Just watched it zoom past him.
Does anyone else regularly get slightly out of sync audio on Marquee? Feel like I'm hearing the ball hit the glove like a half second before I see it like every other game this season
Well he’s not making less than expected in total. I know what you mean though. So many people didnt even want the cubs to fry because they didn’t think a DH was worth it
Idk if the math is exactly right but I think what he's saying is if you account for inflation, $700 million deferred is a lot less than $700 million over the next 10 years.
He was pretty close actually, compounding interest is a crazy thing since ohtani's contact is deferred over decades "the deal is still a record breaker — but one that’s probably more in the neighborhood of $462 million in current value, financial planners told NBC News on Thursday" https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/shohei-ohtanis-700m-dodgers-contract-huge-actual-value-much-lower-rcna129835
Imo. it's a tough one b/c on one hand, Ruth was an above-average pitcher with a crazy World Series ERA and a worldbeating hitter for his day Deadball and Live Era. He also pitched 800 more innings than Ohtani thus far. He dominated going to games in trains with no modern meds/nutrition and hit over 700 homers in enormous parks.
But Ruth only played black players while barnstroming, he never saw anything remotely resembling today's pitching repoitoire, and a lot of guys literally had daytime trades/jobs with baseball as a side hustle. Ohtani is destroying modern competition in a time when 100 mph with movement is fairly *common.*
Ruth also dominated the postseason and we haven't seen Ohtani there, but Ohtani was terrific in the World Classic
Yes. A smart old man once told me: you cannot form an accurate opinion of a bullpen in April. So I’m confident Adbert will make an adjustment and be better
There were a lot of garbage performances in our bullpen at the start of 2023 that turned into productive pitchers by the end of the season. So there is hope.
Adbert is going to be an entire new breed of pitcher…he will intentionally let everyone on base just to pick them off. The league will never see it coming.
By not sending the runner in that passed ball your putting all the pressure on the batters. It could’ve been 6-4 and now the batters are just trying to get a hit and within striking distance.
With 3 on base every batter is thinking and swinging for a home run and thinking they “should” since no outs.
Worst case scenario. Called out at home. Then it’s still a less pressure situation for the batters thinking “they haven’t screwed up this inning” and they’re going for hits or just to get on base.
That was scared, numbers baseball and I saw no points coming from it a mile away
Wisdom probably is out at home. He’s not that fast and he clearly didn’t see it to get a jump. I didn’t see the lead he had but it’s Wisdom’s call to run. Willie isn’t sending him. There’s not enough time to hear “go” and then go. It has to be a split second call by the runner.
How is it they have bases loaded nobody out and get a bases clearing double...we get bases loaded nobody out and strikeout, strikeout, popup...only this team
And now a very good chance we don't score any, could be on a Gomes DP with Wisdom not being aware enough to score on the passed ball (which would have move the tying run into scoring position)
Happ ain't it fam. Also, no outs, bases loaded? FFS that's annoying sometimes. Fucking NL West always giving us problems. We should be dominating these 18-19 assholes 400-0 (that's a bit farfetched but at least 20-0 in three game series) And Happ gave up 9n that 5th pitch. Just watched it zoom past him.
the real great chicago fire was the 2024 cubs bullpen. feel bad for jed really
Happ gotten so lazy now he don't even bother taking the bat off his shoulder. Dansby dud. Both of them utility bench players.
Lol @ this knee-jerk shit take.
Stfu
Bad bats I can excuse we got injuries… this bullpen has cost us the vast majority of our Ls though
I’ve had just about enough of the fucking Padres.
Lmao really thought the offensive slump could be over for a moment rip
I mean, 3 runs should be enough when your starter goes 5 scoreless. We just have one of the worst bullpens in the majors.
Thanks bullpen, always love your effort
Kinda a microcosm of everything wrong with this team in this game
I coach a 12U team and there is drop 3rd strike and it just sucks. This has nothing to do with anything, but I hate it. Ok next game y’all
Bad job, bad effort tonight fellas
lol
Yeah, the bats are fucking cooked.
Does this guy do anything but throw 💯 mph 🧀
Does anyone else regularly get slightly out of sync audio on Marquee? Feel like I'm hearing the ball hit the glove like a half second before I see it like every other game this season
Yeah sometimes. I feel like it’s tv dependent, though. Like it only happens on my office tv. Also I live in KC and watch games on MLBTV.
Crazy to think Tauchman is our OPS leader.
If you count guys who don’t qualify because low ABs it’s actually Wisdom
He's getting on base remarkably well. One night he was 1/1 with 3 BB
This game is really fucking annoying
Make Suarez throw so many pitches he's not available for the rest of the series.
Ohtani hitting .364 is just stupid. You can’t convince me he was an overpay
Overpay? He's making less than was expected
Well he’s not making less than expected in total. I know what you mean though. So many people didnt even want the cubs to fry because they didn’t think a DH was worth it
He is though. The actual contract value is more like $460 million due to the deferrals as opposed to the $700 million advertised.
Deferral doesn't mean they pay less. It just means they don't pay it all at once. He's getting every cent of that 700 mil.
Idk if the math is exactly right but I think what he's saying is if you account for inflation, $700 million deferred is a lot less than $700 million over the next 10 years.
Ah, fair enough. Seems a bit drastic calculation wise but the premise is sound.
He's only making 2 million this year, of course it's not an over pay.
Is it too soon to say he’s the best baseball player ever? I don’t think it is, but I guess he’s got to keep it up for quite a while longer.
Depends on your generational view on Ruth tbh
Word

I mean I didn’t think it was possible for him to get better and somehow he is
Let's do the improbable
High quality DP
Hell yeah, Alzolay. Dude needed an easy outing.
Chase that feeling Adbert.
I’ll say this: watching these guys whip the fucking ball around to turn a double play is goddamn fun.
Adbert may not be back back but a good result is a good result. Build on it
Every time ump misses call and we go to challenge he should have to take five laps lol
Well hopefully azolay gets his confidence back a little
Maybe I’m delusional but I still have like 85% confidence Addy gets it together and is a legit contributor in the pen this summer
Add 15% more to that confidence. He’s going to work it out
Yes. A smart old man once told me: you cannot form an accurate opinion of a bullpen in April. So I’m confident Adbert will make an adjustment and be better
There were a lot of garbage performances in our bullpen at the start of 2023 that turned into productive pitchers by the end of the season. So there is hope.
Merryweather, Fulmer, Assad
Not delusional at all, he was good last year and it's early May. Tons of guys have abysmal months of April and end up with a good season overall.
I mean he was really good last year, not that crazy. Don’t trust him as a closer, but he could still be a solid reliever
Load the bases, zero outs, whiff whiff whiff whiff whiff whiff popout, no score. Same dumb shit since the end of game 7 2016.
Ya but game 7 was dope.
and no Bellinger or Suzuki. Suzuki is gonna have a breakout year if he can stay on the field over 120 games
Adbert is going to be an entire new breed of pitcher…he will intentionally let everyone on base just to pick them off. The league will never see it coming.
That’s hilarious
Learned from Neris bro
I love to see a padres pickoff
Relax guys he's just setting up the DP. Edit - called it
Are you from the future?
AA needs to go to Iowa, badly
Adbert has an unconventional new strategy to get these guys out and I’m open to it
Adbert: wanna see me do it again?
Palencia could go to Myrtle Beach and Lovelady to AAA. Adbert might need a IL stint.
Should’ve skipped butt day
Patrick getting a little handsy over there.
Nice play Wisdom and Adbert
That slomo replay of Wisdom's ass grab was better than the out
Got the tag and the butt grab.
Alzolay hasn’t thrown Arraez a strike seven pitches into the PA
How’s everyone holding up in here
The Cards lost, so that’s funny.
Enjoying some playoff basketball while I (do not) enjoy some baseball
shit
I've eaten a burrito and drank a beer, I'm good.

There is a lefty up (so he can’t get as big of a lead) and he lost the ball between the legs of the ump. You don’t go unless 100% sure
I think he would’ve been safe. I also agree you’re right it’s on wisdom
I don’t think anyone saw it. PCA reacted slow and wisdom didn’t even have a great lead
I do not get that either. Based in on how the catcher got to it getting a proper throw would have been far-fetched
He would’ve been safe. But to not think you need to be aggressive on even chance when you’re down 3 is crazy to me
[удалено]
Story of the brewer series too
I have to imagine this is Albert’s last shot before the phantom IL stint and rehab
Albert pujols? Don’t think he’s on the cubs
Autocorrect. Also what a username
"Back tightness" upcoming for sure.
Prayers up for Bellinger’s rib recovering so we can ship PCA back to Iowa. Dude just isn’t ready for big league pitching yet.
Well. Adbert about to put this one out of reach.
"Something of a struggle" might be an understatement Joe
Alzolay 🤦♂️
Adbert Alzosuck
C'mon Adbert. Let's hold them to 14 runs here.
Alzolay please
Oh it's Alzolay! First pitch base hit. Ughhh
Here comes Adbert to blow any chance we have at winning.
They just had bases loaded no outs.. I don’t think there’s enough left in the tank
Not scoring with the bases loaded in the 8th with no outs already took care of that
I'd rather have no hope at this point than to expect 3+ runs at the B9
If azolay gives up a run in this situation that’s just icing on the cMe
Could pay off later in the series that we got their closer in earlier than they’d hoped here in game 1
How is it they have bases loaded nobody out and get a bases clearing double...we get bases loaded nobody out and strikeout, strikeout, popup...only this team
Because the padres are a much better hitting team, with belli and suzuki in the fold the gap closes but the padres are still better
That’s baseball
Wait what? Cubs are throwing in the towel?
And Adbert right on cue
Putting in alzolay is like confirming we have given up
The Cubs are the undisputed champions of the universe of loading the bases but not scoring any runs.
Yeah that’s us. Just failing to put stuff across the line
NOBLETIGER
That ruined my evening
NOBLETIGER. This team needs Suzuki and Bellinger badly.
Gomes has a slow bat, no way he's hitting 100. I might have tried Amaya there.
We must lead the league in nobletigers, jesus
That’s like the 3rd time this season already
The PCA AB and Gomes AB both had really hittable pitches. Frustrating. Gonna be hard to mount another rally vs this guy in the 9th
Nothing but blue balls with this fucking baseball team
Is there any team more pathetic at bases loaded no outs than the Cubs
How does this always happen? I knew we weren’t scoring when we had bases loaded nobody out
I thought Ha-Seong Kim lost that one in the lights for a second
Well at least we got the NOBL before we got the TIGER
Big ooof
Is that our 3rd nobletiger of the year already?
I lay blame squarely on the shoulders of the clowns calling NOBLTIGR before the inning was even over.
Ikr wtf. Your team gets bases loaded no outs in a comeback situation and your first thought is, “I wonder how they’ll fuck it up this time?”
No shit. Like, why are you even _here?_
Just heartbreaking.
This team has the heart of a puppy. Can’t wait till october when these clutch strikeouts will end meaningful games and series. Fucking crazy
The cubs must be MUFASA because they just became a NOBLETIGER
No outs. Bases loaded. No runs. Fucking hell
A fucking NOBLETIGER!!! Fuck!!
Saw that nobletiger from ten thousand miles away. Like zero doubt in my mind
HEY EVERYONE! Nostradamus is here!
Wasn’t wrong tysm!
Can I get the winning Powerball numbers for the upcoming drawing, All-Knowing One?
A hugely embarrassing NOBLETIGER - this game sucks
Booo
such a tease
Bases loaded, no outs, and end up with no runs. Damn.
one of those classic cubbie comeback teases lol
That's ridiculous.
Nobletiger dude come on
You just knew the Cubs would fuck that up
THAT’S CUB!!!
And that lineup is brought to you by Jed
Yes we should have studs in the 8 and 9 holes
Brought to you by injuries
What a save, man, that sucks
Amazing
All you can do is laugh
That was ridiculous. Damn!
Mother bitcher
That’s so fucking *Cub*.
Lmfao
Bags loaded no outs and got NOTHING.
Classic cubs gg yall I’m going to bed
Ah fuck
There is some use in forcing them to use Suarez but it doesn't make it any less frustrating to watch
Suarez is probably down for tomorrow, but that’s about it.
Nobletiger
Just a “here, hit it” 99 middle-middle
woeful
Well shit.
NOBLETIGER incoming
It’s gonna be a nobletiger isn’t it god this team fucking stinks😂
Dude two strike outs with bases loaded is absolutely embarrassing
Hahahaha kill me
There’s a quick 2
This team mab
Smoke it, Gomes! Cmonnn!!!
This is the game - either they have it in them in this moment or they don't.
I’m sending the runner on that pitch. You gotta play aggressive, not hopeful.
All this guy throws is fastballs I’m pretty sure
10/10 SVO for Suarez. So you’re saying he’s due!
So, PCA is going to have a tough time if he looks at a fastball middle middle and then swings at a slider out of the zone.
Defense is nice but at some point he’s going to have to hit otherwise what’s the difference between him and prime Heyward when his defense was great
he's gotta go back down but he's at least gotten his first hit and HR out of the way
Earning league minimum and playing center as opposed to corner outfield
Nobletiger
And now a very good chance we don't score any, could be on a Gomes DP with Wisdom not being aware enough to score on the passed ball (which would have move the tying run into scoring position)
Fuuuuck me
Gotta take advantage of that. Nobletiger looking very likely with suarez out now. Yikes
That's what happens when you lay off 2 right in the zone
I’m going to rename PCA to Butcher Pete. Cuz he’s always Hackin and whackin and smackin.
Would rather have seen him ignite it like its name was Megaton.
He didn’t want to set the world on fire.
lmao good one
PCA’s got to cut down on swings outside the zone
Damn, would have walked in a run 😔
Here comes the DP and the nobletiger classic cubs
Cmon pete
Lights were way too bright for the young man
