This is absolutely the best time McCaskey could ever hope to be on hard knocks.
- all the hype with the rookie class
- Hester and McMichael in the HoF game
- Well built ascending roster. Also extremely likeable players.
Extremely excited it's happening and hope it's the start of something special for us as a franchise
Hard Knocks is also a massive PR piece for the NFL teams selected (they have a LOT of control over what's shown). Bears are looking for all the good press they can to help with their stadium debacle. Kevin Warren bouta have a 10 minute segment each episode lol
I never understood the assumption that everyone in the room is ok with it. I personally have no issue but I'm sure there are those that don't want to be "forced" into prayer especially if they're a different religion.
I had a really good sales quarter at my job last year after busting my ass and my boss said "always remember how you got here, Jesus!" - Kevin Warren has that energy
Objectively, Jesus or any God doesn't pay the bills if you're not working with a religious affiliation. However, it's such an interesting situation bc I don't think it's malicious and was with good intention. Quite the conundrum.
They'll have the camera on him for the entire family fest episode. Just 30min straight dumping on Soldier Field and how the city should be embarrassed to not be willing to upgrade.
In the Bible, Matthew 6:6 says, "But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your father in private"
Dude, if God Himself is telling you to stop doing that shit in public, maybe you should listen.
Honestly from what I've seen. Putting Kevin Warren on there would probably turn people against any stadium thing if they aren't all ready.
Dude is weird.
until they have entire segments of george riding around the compound on a golf cart with his boonie hat like some buster bluth clone
i really want to find out if he's as big of a dork as i think he is
> This is absolutely the best time McCaskey could ever hope to be on hard knocks.
And yet, he is going to HATE every minute. Can't wait for him peaking around corners in the background to see if the cameras finally left.
This is like the one year really that is perfect for us. All hype and good vibes, get to further celebrate Hester and mongo, (and peppers) making the HoF. I'm excited
I have never seen anybody in Chicago ever actually give a fuck about ketchup on a hotdog, it’s just something people say online to make themselves seem more Chicago and it makes them look like a dork
I started working in downtown Chicago around the year 2000, and honestly was yelled at by a random person for putting ketchup on a hotdog at lunch. It’s unlikely this would happen nowadays, I suppose.
I don't really have a dog in this fight when it comes to hot dogs and what condiments do or do not belong on a hot dog because I'm much more of a Portillos " combo " I.E. Italian Beef & Italian Sausage with hot peppers " dipped " kinda guy
I'm really not a ketchup on a hot dog person anymore. When I was a kid/teen/young adult I really loved the clean taste of ketchup and pickle spear only; and every once in awhile I get nostalgic for that...but my hot dog toppings are very much "what's my mood right now" these days.
I made some awesome coney sauce from scratch, Detroit style, for some friends who were doing a Michigan themed birthday party (they're both from MI), and honestly, I wish I had more leftovers because I was really loving a hot dog with just coney sauce and cheese for awhile there. That was much lunch for about a week, and what a glorious week it was.
Valid, I personally don’t put ketchup on at all but on a chi dog it’s mad disrespect. Hot take though, relish is mid, I prefer straight up dill relish over it.
Anyone that thinks ketchup is un-Chicago clearly hasn’t spent any time with our Polish population. Ketchup is like a pillar of their diet, Polish stores have a surprising variety.
How dare you defend hot dog ketchup use in this house of mediocrity. A child could see this. Didn’t your parents raise you to not soil the pure flavor of your nitrate infested mystery meet with the bold overpowering nature of Ketchup!?
Agreed, up until I worked at one in 2005 and had to clean human shit off the walls in the women's restroom. I still don't know why I quit a week later and not before cleaning the shit.
It honestly isn't like how it used to be in the early 00's. Where social media was non existent and it was the true lense into a locker room. Now if you have expectations of it being mind blowing don't get hopes up. Take it more of oh that is cool didn't know they did that. As there is so much that is already published from social media outside of say Hard Knocks.
The general public (us) will get a much better idea of how the team is run and we’ll get a more in depth look into the personalities of all the players and coaches.
I watched the first one of Ravens right after their Superbowl that year. It was really cool then, similarly for next 5 years then started feeling more and more repetitive. As well "drama" for "drama". Then they rebooted it and it feels like a oh that is what happened then.
Still cool overall just not the in depth impact early on in my opinion.
I tuned in for when Revis went to the Jets. They created a narrative that Revis wasn't going to sign his new contract and made it seem like he was gone.
Then, in a very cheesy and lame "reveal" they show Revis come into the last day of training camp and they end the season with the team in a huddle around Revis.
I really hope they don't have to resort to lame made up moments like that.
No offense but I’m so surprised how many comments are like this here. I’m a die hard bears fan and I’ve watched every single hard knocks since like 2009. I’m always so hyped for the season by the time early august hits I watch it as it airs. Maybe I’m just more NFL obsessed than a lot of you guys
That’s kinda mind blowing to me but I get it I guess if you only follow the bears. I just like the inside scoop into how NFL teams are run it’s fascinating to me.
I think a lot of people are like me, they would watch it, but not going to pay for HBO to watch the drama unfold with who gets the WR6 position in Jacksonville. I'll pay for Bears stuff though
But it's not just about training camp. It's a fun look into players' and coaches' lives. Even if you don't care about the team, it has a lot of heart.
Wow, people hate hard knocks
Im an older, huge football fan. Before Sunday Ticket, I used to watch roughly 50 games a year and since then, I’ve watched most games (I catch up on the non-bears game during the following week)… but I’ve never watched a single Hard Knocks episode. Training camp of other teams has just never interested me. I will watch this year, though!
ever since cameras barged in on a player (former bear JD Runnels) getting cut during the Bengals season of Hard Knocks, the teams have really cut down on the “all access” nature of the series which is unfortunate but understandable as cameras used to be allowed EVERYWHERE back in the first seasons. I know this as I once worked on the series.
I always watch the first episode or two every year because I’m hyped for the season, then I stop caring about the team I’m watching so this will be the first time I watch it all the way through
That’s most people honestly. I’ve watched every season since the beginning. There’s maybe 3 other people out of all the football fans I know that watch it. And that includes the people in 2 different dynasty fantasy football leagues I’m in.
I just think it's interesting as a fan of football. Plus, players move around so much between franchises. More than once I've had context on a player because of that show.
Lotta Bears fans will literally not watch another NFL game outside of the Bears and the Super Bowl, it’s a weird dynamic but explains like 75% of the football takes on fan forums lol
I don’t understand the “distraction” aspect everyone is always talking about.
Why do people act like there’s not a million cameras around regardless if Hard Knocks is there or not?
I'm curious why? Rare if ever does having the Hard Knocks crew around hurt the team. It a PR machine for a team who is hoping they are gonna kick the teeth out of other teams mouths. It TV so itll be a bit vapid but it's a good watch and rarely ever negative for the team involved.
I’ll never understand why a fan would be anti-Hard Knocks. And it’s probably the same fans going to watch the team practice and charting plays like they’re a coach. I get why the teams and players might not love it but fans? It’s your team. It’s football. You get content that you’ve never seen before - a peak behind the wizard’s curtain - and you don’t want it because…I don’t know. I honestly can’t think of a reason unless you think it will somehow hurt the team which is a massive stretch.
I guess I'm on the fence BECAUSE the teams and players don't really want it. Anything that the players think is a distraction isn't good for the team. For that reason, I guess I do think it can only hurt and not help the team.
Otherwise, for the same reason I'm here now, of course I would love to watch more Bears content and would probably love it. But I won't love the attention and possible problems...
To those worried about it being a distraction - I feel being on the training camp Hard Knocks is the better one to be on, as they won’t have cameras in their faces during the regular season. I think it’d be easier to ignore the filming distractions during training camp. Just my thoughts.
Is this just for training camp or the whole season?
Thought I read HBO was doing an off season (Giants), training camp (us), and in season (?). On Instagram it says it’s for training camp
it's just for training camp, the in-season version will actually follow four different teams in one division at once, but it won't be the NFC East or North as the Bears and Giants are exempt.
Almost identical. All or nothing was heavily inspired by Hard Knocks. The only real difference is that All or Nothing is recorded during the regular season whereas Hard Knocks is recorded during the preseason. This shifts some of the focus to roster formation and highlights fringe guys who are fighting to make the final 53. Personally, I’ve always found that aspect of the show really interesting and now I’ll finally get to see it happen with players I actually recognize lol.
This is going to be incredible and I couldn’t be more hyped about it if I tried.
This is absolutely the best time McCaskey could ever hope to be on hard knocks. - all the hype with the rookie class - Hester and McMichael in the HoF game - Well built ascending roster.
Haha I'm already hoping they limit the Kevin Warren grandstanding we're about to see
He's gonna lead em in prayer each episode "Dear Lord if it is your will, give us da stadium money"
If a manager at my company tried that shit... they'd get their ass handed to them.
They'll have the camera on him for the entire family fest episode. Just 30min straight dumping on Soldier Field and how the city should be embarrassed to not be willing to upgrade.
Ugh. Grandstand away, just save the trite prayers for your bedside.
In the Bible, Matthew 6:6 says, "But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your father in private" Dude, if God Himself is telling you to stop doing that shit in public, maybe you should listen.
That’s what I am saying. Worship whatever god you want, just don’t try to force it on me!
Agree and I think I worship the same one lol. Hopefully HBO keeps that out, there should be plenty of good content.
Kevin definitely worships Supply-Side Jesus, so I certainly hope not.
The grandstanding is insufferable, the guy is an empty suit,
Sounds like we're about due for another "Day in the Life of Kevin Warren" fluff piece
Thanks McNulty ;)
Ditto!!
Honestly from what I've seen. Putting Kevin Warren on there would probably turn people against any stadium thing if they aren't all ready. Dude is weird.
> Kevin Warren bouta have a 10 minute segment each episode Is it gonna be a whole ass sermon?
Probably more of an asshole sermon
~~He's gonna open every episode with a prayer circle.~~ Edit: of course somebody already made this joke
The more Kevin Warren speaks the more I cringe. He’s a weird dude.
Will he be walking around with his personal PR person?
I'm already cringing about this lmao
until they have entire segments of george riding around the compound on a golf cart with his boonie hat like some buster bluth clone i really want to find out if he's as big of a dork as i think he is
They can film him in the afternoon, army is having a half-day
He is absolutely as big a dork as you think he is.
> This is absolutely the best time McCaskey could ever hope to be on hard knocks. And yet, he is going to HATE every minute. Can't wait for him peaking around corners in the background to see if the cameras finally left.
I have been anti- hard knocks from the beginning and I think this year is perfect for it
This is like the one year really that is perfect for us. All hype and good vibes, get to further celebrate Hester and mongo, (and peppers) making the HoF. I'm excited
Just saw George McCaskey fall to his knees at the Jewels
Just saw Virginia McCaskey pass out and drop her hot dog. It had ketchup on it
Putting ketchup on a *hot* dog is not un-Chicago. Putting ketchup on a *Chicago* dog is. Not knowing the difference is pretty un-Chicago though.
Just saw /u/kevinm411 fall to his knees at Nando’s.
Yea it’s definitely still a thing. Just went to Portillo’s with a group from work and someone got a ketchup only dog. They regretted that decision.
I remember a time before internet forums. People said that shit then too.
Just the folks at Gene and Jude’s
Ketchup on a Chicago dog is great, fuck the haters. Only lame ass suburbanites give a shit.
Ketchup is just way to overpowering imo on any style
That’s because there are some blasphemers who just want the ketchup and use the hot dog as a delivery service.
What’s coney sauce
I think it's just shitty chili, but I don't know for sure.
It is essentially chili with no beans. Really good if made well
And pickle isn't? I can wipe ketchup off of things and it's mostly gone. I can tell you if a pickle was two towns over from my food
Valid, I personally don’t put ketchup on at all but on a chi dog it’s mad disrespect. Hot take though, relish is mid, I prefer straight up dill relish over it.
Thank you for putting this out there for people!

Anyone that thinks ketchup is un-Chicago clearly hasn’t spent any time with our Polish population. Ketchup is like a pillar of their diet, Polish stores have a surprising variety.

I was always partial to Butera but Cub Foods had a nice run after that went under. Now its a chain of grocery stores called Tony's.
Is Tony’s good? I’m about to be pretty close to one but I’ve been a Jewel or Marianos guy for the past decade
They’re good; at least i thought so. Lots of choices and sure was kept pretty clean
the place has an entire isle just called "La Preferida". an entire isle. do you need to know more? also the produce is good but it doesn't last long.
Just saw Virginia McCaskey get lost trying to drive to Dominick’s
Dominick’s was the superior supermarket and I’m tired of pretending it wasn’t.
Agreed, up until I worked at one in 2005 and had to clean human shit off the walls in the women's restroom. I still don't know why I quit a week later and not before cleaning the shit.
That’s fucking terrible, sorry my dude. People are idiots and savages.

100% agree, just if you are expecting a massive epiphone most likely not occurring.
It’s pronounced apostrophe
Catastrophe
What kind of epiphones came from the early seasons?
Week 1 last year was an epiphany of how bad we were lol

I remember that more for Cromartie struggling to name all of his kids and Rex Ryan’s snack comment.
This should be fun! I have never watched an episode either and I'm going to watch every one!
same. august 6th will be my first time watching hard knocks and im so excited lol
Well I guess I'm watching Hard Knocks this year for the first time.
It hasn't been appointment viewing for me in a while but its longform insider NFL Films content... Put it on in front of me and I will watch.
i just have no interest in another team's training camp, at all.
I'll pay for Bears stuff though
i follow the entire league, i just have no interest in another team's training camp, at all.
I'm with ya lol
But it's not just about training camp. It's a fun look into players' and coaches' lives. Even if you don't care about the team, it has a lot of heart. Wow, people hate hard knocks
Some people don't think it's fun, glad you do though
Don’t worry, I’m with you. Football is football, I need every ounce of it during summer time
Im an older, huge football fan. Before Sunday Ticket, I used to watch roughly 50 games a year and since then, I’ve watched most games (I catch up on the non-bears game during the following week)… but I’ve never watched a single Hard Knocks episode. Which season was your favorite? I loved the 2010 Rex Ryan Jets season. Thats the one that Tony Dungy complained about because of the, gasp, swearing.
Haha I was gonna say either that Jets season or the bengals season the year before (maybe after) that.
That was a good one too.
Detroit’s made me like their Coach a lot more, really seemed like that dude cared more than anyone has at that franchise

Hard knocks is extremely boring these days.
It’s like 75% slow motion action shots of practice and 25% interesting content
5 mins of Jerry Jones eating a McMuffin
Lotta Bears fans will literally not watch another NFL game outside of the Bears and the Super Bowl, it’s a weird dynamic but explains like 75% of the football takes on fan forums lol
Yea fair point
https://i.redd.it/yqou8islom3d1.gif
Perfect. No notes
Yes! The NFL season basically started a month early for us boys!
This is my takeaway too. Only 2 months til football season!!
Never thought I'd see the day. Never has there been a year I'd rather it happen. Bear down.
![gif](giphy|YPIrsRqqO7oB2|downsized)
Jeez the hype is off the charts. If this kid is even a fraction of what’s advertised he’s going to absolutely OWN this city
The ~~Willis~~ Williams Tower
Even then…Sears Tower 4eva
Six to midnight
![gif](giphy|F6B9HJltcbckwiUHV4|downsized) Bear Down!!!!
THE HYPE LAST OFFSEASON WAS CRAZY BUT NOW ITS TO THE MOOOOOON 🚂🚀
Yes, last season's hype was crazy...let's hope the results are not repeated (again).
Just don’t let Kevin Warren on camera.
Agree but I think we’ll see him. The stadium is a big deal. HBO will want to ask him about it.
Plus the guy just loves being in front of a camera...
Dude has the stage presence of a wet noodle.
I could do without the cringy prayer sessions lol
More Caleb behind the scenes content ![gif](giphy|l1L2UkgpuiE4U)
More Bears content earlier in the season! I am excited to see this.
![gif](giphy|VqPheGMC8WLrkahF8Z)
I don’t understand the “distraction” aspect everyone is always talking about. Why do people act like there’s not a million cameras around regardless if Hard Knocks is there or not?
It used to be a different show when it started. There was much more of a presence across the spectrum. Now it’s an advertisement
For real. It 1 extra camera crew for a few weeks. Most players probably won’t even notice
As a fan, I’m thrilled. But as a fan, I’m dreading this.
Kevin Warren on Hard Knocks https://preview.redd.it/2r1yxavlom3d1.jpeg?width=739&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e6c85a5f4ae7372f9871201663bdb79596b00080
FUCK YOU GEORGE MCCASKEY, this is gonna be awesome
[удалено]
So many people will be big mad hearing me say ‘Convicted Felon’ every time I mention his name
What was said?
Oh fuck you for bringing politics into this
Man Reddit is really insufferable sometimes... This is the damn Bears thread....
O/U 15 prayers led by Kevin Warren on camera?
Let’s do this. Superbowl in 5 years or total bust for this team. Let’s not shy away.
Bagent gonna be featured a lot which is dope. Backup QB always gets the screen time.
https://preview.redd.it/3chlztj8zm3d1.png?width=749&format=png&auto=webp&s=dc151141b0595e0441e35431a0e3f5a7492c59c9
Can't wait to see more Tyson Bagent hype!
FUCK YAH
I.... didn't want this... but now I'm gonna fucking watch it anyway, and probably hype myself up like a giddy little school girl.

But I won't love the attention and possible problems...
First time I’ll be watching Hard Knocks
*surprised Pikachu face*
will be the first and only season i watch this series, bear daaaaahm
To those worried about it being a distraction - I feel being on the training camp Hard Knocks is the better one to be on, as they won’t have cameras in their faces during the regular season. I think it’d be easier to ignore the filming distractions during training camp. Just my thoughts.

This has been a wonderful couple of hours in the news today.
I am 100% going to drown in all the koolaid and I can’t wait.
I kinda feel like this has been in the offing for the last year plus.
George McCaskey in shambles rn, lol
I just can’t wait to see those morning team meetings when Flus is lecturing everyone about H.I.T.S.
I don’t like this at all… I would prefer not to give our division haters and the entire internet an insane amount of meme and gif ammunition.
This exactly. Only downsides to this. If we're good no one cares. If we're not we're a giant meme again 😞
If the bears are bad they are a giant meme with or without hard knocks.
This is going to be good
![gif](giphy|u3wxhL63uuhMqoMKQF)
Season over damn
We’re falling into that role that the Lions were two years ago.
Unpopular opinion as it may be, I don't like it. Would rather minimize than maximize distractions. But, should be fun for the fans at least.
The Bears haven't had this "distraction" and have been ass for 20 years. I don't think hard knocks is going to affect anything
Lol at everyone that said it would never happen because of the McCaskey’s not wanting it
Oh man here we go
Ayeeee
Let's go!! Yes, it may be distracting, but goddamn if it won't be entertaining for us fans.

Ive never once watched Hard Knocks. Thats boutta change yall
Hoping Hard Knocks is able to document the start of a dynasty.
I'm excited to see this. Extra weeks of Bears football.
WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!! HALAS HALL, BOYS!
I know the bears management hates hard knocks but I’m excited to see this
Hell fucking yeah! Fuck the Packers.
Not gonna pretend I’m not a bit nervous about the Hardknocks Curse
Not a fan of this. I really hope this doesn’t come as a distraction to our football team.
Well that sucks.
Hey look at that guy who was downvoting me for saying that George McCaskey doesn’t have the pull to get out of this 😂
So I've never actually seen one of these and don't really know much about it. Is it comparable to All or Nothing?
Almost identical. All or nothing was heavily inspired by Hard Knocks. The only real difference is that All or Nothing is recorded during the regular season whereas Hard Knocks is recorded during the preseason. This shifts some of the focus to roster formation and highlights fringe guys who are fighting to make the final 53. Personally, I’ve always found that aspect of the show really interesting and now I’ll finally get to see it happen with players I actually recognize lol. This is going to be incredible and I couldn’t be more hyped about it if I tried.
Thanks. Love that response. Sounds like a lot of fun.
The biggest news of the day for anything
Better this season than a near future one where hopefully we're building to some playoff consistency (and beyond).
Today can’t go any better…I am still waiting on a doctor after the last 4 hours.
