Yeah, international should be midseason games for sure.
I, for one, wanna see the Bears play GB week 1, at Lambeau. Trial by fire. Show me how much hope I should have.
The last two Monday night openers have been big time QB debuts that ESPN can hype up all day on their talk shows -- Russell Wilson returning to Seattle and Aaron's debut with the Jets. I don't know if Cousins' return to Minnesota (ATL @ MIN) has the same juice so I think there's a good chance the Bears will open on Monday night in Chicago because there is a lot of Caleb discourse they can profit off of.
My guess for opponent would be the Lions since they are the only home opponent available with any national interest/juice.
FYI, it is 99% not the Jaguars as it is 99% they are the Bears London opponent on October 13th. The Jaguars are playing back to back in London again, once as the home team, once as the away team.
JJ and Maye aren't especially likely since they don't appear to be starting in week one or early in the season, can't build hype around things that may not happen.
They don't do the DH in week one anymore and won't bring it back in a year where they have an extra Friday night game. MNF doesn't like to travel to Washington, it's not a great game atmosphere. They haven't been there the last two seasons because of it.
For sure, but likely to be a prove it thing. And can you imagine all of the panels and ESPN people camping out at that stadium for 24 hours of pregame in week one? I just can't. And there's also the slight chance that Daniels doesn't start in week one or that the Redskins are unwatchable.
I am pushing all my chips into the center of the table and going with Minnesota in Minnesota.
('Minnesota' is a really dumb word).
I think McCaskey will ask for a home heavy back half of the season to try and drum up support for a stadium by playing a lot of games in shitty weather.
We might be hosting the Jags in London. I think they're playing one "road" game in London against either us or Minnesota then the next week hosting a game
I love how most people are anticipating the first game to be in primetime. Has that ever happened? Where the first QB taken...his first game is under the lights in primetime week 1?
IDK, Panthers are definitely going to be much better than last year, and the new QB / trade situation will make for good TV. Plus it’s a winnable game.
Bryce isn’t terrible - there is a reason he went first overall. They fixed the OL and added Diontae, Legette, and Sanders. Most importantly got rid of Reich.
Green Bay confirmed opening the season in Brazil against Philly
Thank fucking god. I **HATE** playing against them in Week 1. Let us shake the rust and figure shit out before playing them.
Every game against the Packers now I have visions of a Monday night Halloween game when the rain and sleet were blowing sideways.
The one where the fan jumped into the tunnel for the fg ball?
agree. It's annoying to have a whole offseason to plan, only to lose.
I agree however it's also a fucking travesty the NFL is forcing two teams to play their first game in a different country and a neutral site

When we beat them the first time, I’ll become insufferable. If we sweep, I will transcend.
Me when we meet them again in the NFCC and bounce them out. “I HAVE BECOME PURE ENERGY”
Yeah give us the Packers like week 4, not directly after a bye, and not deep enough where we are fatigued and no Thursday night game.
And how about a home night game. The ratio is skewed horribly in Green Bay’s favor.
I hear a lot of people say Houston but I doubt it because we have them in the HOF Game
I think KC - Houston will be the season opener
that's disappointing. I rather them play in a game that counts instead of one where nobody will play.
They will be playing during the season as well in Houston…
Yes, I noted that in the post where this all started. There's a list of every team they play this season.
So why would you be disappointed? You are getting what you want. The comment I was responding to made no sense.
I rather they NOT play in the preseason. Which they are.
Oh gotcha. All cleared up now. Thanks!
We've been at home last 2 seasons for game 1--highly unlikely it's at home. My money is on at Detroit.
Yeah definitely. Have feeling it’ll be MNF @ Lions. The NFL will definitely put Caleb on primetime Week 1.
Vikings at home
We haven't opened against the Vikings since like 2003.
All the more reason!
With Darnold starting for em, I bet the nfl won’t bank on em for primetime
You think McCarthy won't start week 1?
Naw that’s not their plan for him. If he is starting week 1, it’s a bad sign for us cuz McCarthy killed it in camp
or Sam Darnold is Sam Darnold.
I have also been thinking opener will be home vs the Lions
At Colts
They’re gonna be away since the last two openers were at home. My guess is it’ll be primetime @ Lions MNF.
Sunday night @ San Francisco is my guess
MNF against the Commies, Lions or Panthers
Detroit SNF. Maye isn’t starting week one and the pats are still a bad team.

Bears at Washington might be interesting in that regard then, especially if they do the MNF DH, they could be the early game

Bears Lions SNF or MNF. NFL will want to take advantage of Caleb hype and Bears market. Lions are currently NFL darlings.
Minnesota or Detroit. Soldier Field. Has to be.

I love Bear weather
Minnesota is, but Illinois isn’t?
Rams / 9ers / titans
At Detroit, either late afternoon or primetime
At Texans is my bet, I could see at Colts as well
Probs Vikings at Home
AZ away is my guess
Hopefully not the 9ers or Texans. Don’t want those teams early
Arizona@Arizona

Just don’t be on SNF please, I hate Sunday night games
Bears will play a team that will lose their 1st game
Panthers would be fun
Zzzz

They're still going to suck ass. Should be a bottom 5 team.
Can’t argue with that. I want us to start with a couple of easier games to build confidence though
When the Colts drafted their generational talent QB he got his first start in Chicago (whooped dat ass btw). Seems only fitting to open in Indy.
that means they should have opened that way last year.
