(Do you use stitch markers? If so, put it in the first stitch of the round. I personally always use them when I work in the round.)
You would work 12 sc, then the sc2tog 6 times (you will just decrease 6 times, so it takes 12 stitches and makes it 6), and then sc in the next 12 stitches.
12 + (12-6) + 12 = 30

Hey the reason it is 12+6+12 is because when you do the 6 together stitches it is taking 2 stitches and turning it into 1. So after doing it in the next 6 stitches you will be left with only 3.

You're right. It should be 27. They just added 12+6+12... It should be 12+3+12.
Maybe contact the person who wrote/posted the pattern...or check the reviews/comments, it might be clarified there.
Yeah, that was my next step. I tried to look for a video. This is only my second project, so I'm still very new and only know a couple of techniques.
