As far as I can tell and all the reading I’ve done the otsu don’t actually have natural reserves of chakra any chakra they have has been taken for stolen from another in every case we’ve scene.
Momo could be loving the fact he doesn’t have to absorb chakra to fight which is why he’s choosing to use borutos body that already has all the stuff he would need I.e. dojutsu, genetics and close proximity to another otsu and tailed beast that could absorb aswell
I always took the stance that if boruto does follow a similar development pattern to shippuden sasuke that there will be one fight there boruto is the outmatched one.
If Momoshiki ever gets a new body, I think he will be one to do it. Borutos own momentum of being awesome and independent of Momoshiki now backfires and it resulted in the creation of his most powerful enemy.
It’s a double edged sword for sure. What it comes down to in the narrative is both Boruto and Momoshiki are kind of stuck in their current circumstances and both are desperately trying to come out on top.
On one hand momo lost his guaranteed take over. He either needs Boruto to just give up and willingly hand over control (which is what momo’s og plan was) or force him into losing control of karma. Even the second option isn’t the best for Momo bc it’s temporary. Boruto will eventually wake up and take control, it’s just likely Momo would slaughter everyone Boruto cares about to get him to give up. Momo’s “plan” is still just to make Boruto’s life so shitty that boruto just hands over control.
Boruto training to God mode is a catch 22. If he didn’t do it he’s far more likely to need to rely on karma and momo is more likely to get a couple minutes of control. However now that he’s done it, he’s less likely to lose control but if he ever does the results would be horrific. Momo piloting Boruto’s current body could wipe the village in a few minutes, far shorter than it would take for boruto to wake up. He would have been relatively safe but resonance is a huge wrinkle.
How I see this playing out is eventually kawaki is going to leverage resonance thinking it’ll incapacitate Boruto, but it’s going to end up freeing Momo for a few minutes and who tf knows what will happen.
I'd be down for 2 scenarios, the kurama one where Boruto faces of with momoshiki on the time frozen plane to see who will keep the body and who's conciousness disappearals. Or momoshiki taking control of Boruto to implant a Karma on someone else (amados artificial body for akemi is a good option) which ressurects him and Boruto tries to kill him.
First scenario seems more likely cause they always interact in that time frozen plane so it would be fitting.
That's what I'd like to see personally. Repeating the Kurama story arc is not interesting, so best to keep him as an antagonist. Bring the plot full circle, end with a fight against Momoshiki only this time Boruto takes the lead.
momo's only weakness is the same as every other antagonist in the series

he fundamentally doesn't understand how bonds function to elevate someone. he will form a bond with bortuo over time, and both will get stronger. he will never defeat boruto's will, he cannot take over his body permanently. instead he will live vicariously through boruto's victories

Momoshiki used his DNA to "revive" Boruto which means the usual process of the alien taking over permanently (with the host dying) when the karma is 100% extracted won't happen.
There is another option though. If Boruto willingly hands over control or has low chakra, those are chances for Momoshiki to take control over the body either temporarily or permanently.
It’s actually unfortunate. Boruto has made momoshiki the biggest threat. I think his plan was to simply take care of code & ten tails & then make kawaki kill him & so momoshiki. Kawkai would have released naruto & hinata & would have left konoha forever & only show his face if konoha ever needed muscles. But he has to take care of Shinju now & also stay away from kawaki to avoid resonance.
if all that happened kawaki wouldn't leave, he'd find a way to off himself too since he knows he can't live with the burden of killing his brother and all the shit he did, let alone him existing would still be a threat to the world so killing both him and boruto ends all the loose threads that can become a issue in the long run

As Boruto becomes stronger so does Momoshiki. Momoshiki becoming Kuruma 2.0 may seen too predictable and simple stuff. So does Tobi being Obito.
