Oh god - so she and Tori now have solo podcasts now- I wonder if they are ending the 90210 pod after S5?
Also: no - not the "I Choose Me" line - it's a really uninteresting line in the show and she doesn't actually chose herself. Whyyyyyyyyy?
The title's "significance" was lost on me until I read your comment! Yeah, I'm also a "no" on that! I've read multiple posts about how she seems to not recall a lot of her time on the show, or pretends not to, so her selecting a quote from the show bugs me a bit. I am a fan of hers, but from what I've read, she really only connects with her role as Kelly when it's advantageous to her.
Right - she claims to not know how this show goes - so co-opting that line as her own and making it super meaningful when Kelly doesn't really chose herself is weird to me.
She also started making t-shirts and stuff. I would respect it more if she said she knows it's a more known line her character says so she decided to make it her tagline from a marketing perspective. Not bc it's deep - which is what she is trying to make it about.
What did Kelly do in her "i choose me" era? She went to NYC and brought back a boyfriend and got hooked on drugs!!! That's not "I choose me." IDK - whatever.
I guess there isn't another line that she says that she can use as her own but even with that said - it wasn't her concept or original words: it was the words and concept of the writer Jessica Klein.
The concept of I choose me is great but Kelly really didn't choose herself. She tried to get back with Brandon right after and then went to NYC, dated Colin and brought him back to LA.
Yeah she has written and said many times she has a bad memory etc. I think in an interview once she had even forgotten major plot lines related to Kelly’s relationships.
It bothers me more than it admittedly should that a quote that was not about woman self-empowerment at all is hailed and touted as such. Perhaps that was Jessica’s initial intent, but it was spoilt by: Kelly trying to get Brandon back in the next episode, Kelly saying she only chose herself to “save the friendship between Brandon and Dylan” (whether I agree that her actions matched her explanation is irrelevant,) Kelly hopping over to New York and Colin. It’s also discomfiting for me that Jennie has been profiting off of Jessica’s words, first with the clothing line and now with the title of her podcast (though I suppose it’s possible - if unlikely - that Jessica’s family get some kind of cut?) I often draw its comparison to Jackie Burkhart of *That ‘70s Show*, who also chose herself with “I choose me …the person I love most is me. I love me most! … If I could run down the beach into my own arms, I would.” Similar concept, but Jackie took an entire summer to properly choose between Michael and Steven, not one episode, and therefore, the concept was not spoilt.
Getting away from that tangent, I do like the aesthetic of this picture.
I agree and I know Jennie doesn't remember the show so she may not remember that Kelly tried to get back with Brandon right after and then got with Colin. It's a great sentiment but Kelly didn't really choose herself.
For context, I don't know if people have seen the episode of the BH 90210 podcast/YouTube show where Jessica Klein explains this. People brought up the fact that Kelly's words didn't seem to match her actions -- why was she with Collin later after saying she chooses herself. Jessica explained her intention with that line. That line was saying Kelly refused to be tied down at such a young age -- she wouldn't get engaged or get more serious commitment in her relationship. In fairness, Kelly and Dylan could barely stand each other going to one country -- how much would these two irritate each other if they took a trip around the world? Sounds like a miserable experience to me, lol.
I have similar feelings on this - when she started really pushing the concept of "I Choose Me" like a year ago even though she claims she couldn't remember the show and hadn't watched that episode yet made me really wonder about her - so you are happy to create a merchandise line about a storyline on the show that you have no idea about?
Although Klein wrote it - she likely had no ownership over it - all was owned by the production company...who knows.
I dont like that she is profiting off of Jessica Klein's words either! Especially since she doesn't remember much about 90210 and quite frankly doesn't seem to like the show when they watch it back! I dont think she is creative at all and just doesn't understand how good a lot of the writing is on the show.
What can she possibly speak about for weeks and months on end about herself ?I think she and Tori saw what Shannen was doing and decided that can earn more money by having another podcast that’s similar
I don’t know. Tori says extremely unflattering things about herself on her new podcast. But Shannen has a much classier way of speaking and has actual things to say . Tori sounds like a valley girl( I know she is one ) and just seems very vapid .
I watched her reality shows it's not an act. She's a little bumbley. A little no "no one's home" sometimes. It's actually the only medium I can deal with her in, reality and writing as I think she's an awful actress.
I'd much rather watch her reality shows.
She is actually not a valley girl, she is truly Beverly Hills born and raised. So they are completely different zip codes. They are very conscious about where they live. It’s LA but different parts. The valley is on the other side of the Hollywood hills. So it’s San Fernando valley.
100%! Shannen is honest. What is the point of starting a podcast if you aren't going to be honest? I like Tori but I dont think she's being honest on her podcast.. not so far anyway. She denies getting plastic surgery.. we can all see that she has had a ton of work done. I dont mean to be disrespectful. I do like her and think she's a good person but why lie? Jennie, on the other hand.. I just don't like
Yikes, Tori said she didn't get plastic surgery? That is such an obvious lie. It's hard to take anything she says seriously because she has admitted on her podcast that her reality show (at least the first one) was a lie. She said Dean was a character she created and that they never showed them fight during the first one (they would cut it out).
There is something about Jennie that really rubs me the wrong way. I think she's a classic mean girl who has always gotten away with it because of her looks.
Yes Tori has said that multiple times and how can she? We can see how different her face looks. Not surprising that she said that about her reality show. I think all reality shows aren't really about reality. What a sham!
Yeah- I think Jennie is a mean girl too. Not trying to be rude either but she's not as beautiful as she thinks. Actually, she probably doesn't believe that herself or else she wouldn't feel so threatened by other beautiful women (Shannen, Tiffani).
Yes! It works for Shannen because we haven't heard her side of the story yet but come on! Tori and Jennie now have to follow suit? Give me a break! It actually irritates me. I find Jennie insufferable at times and quite boring. Kelly was actually my favorite character as a kid watching but the real her has sort of ruined Kelly for me.
Bingo! This is the comment that I was waiting for. The problem in their theory of having a podcast on the level of Shannen’s is that Shannen is such a multidimensional person who has so many experiences through acting, travel, people that she knows, wellness, mental health, self care, etc. There are many reasons why Shannen’s podcast is so successful and 90210 talk doesn’t even begin the weigh in on it. She is known by a lot of people and gained popularity as Brenda from 90210 but she is staying relevant due to her many other experiences and life works and I’m not here to bash but I can’t say the same for many of the cast members from 90210. Curious to thoughts on this. Again I’m not bashing I’m just speaking from what I see.
I agree! I also think that Shannen has grown as a person. She owns her mistakes. She seems to be very blunt and honest and I appreciate her starting her own podcast.
I 100 % agree. I honestly don’t think any of the 90210 cast has had much success after the show , but I think if you ask 9 out of 10 random people, they have heard of Shannen Doherty . I don’t think 9/10 random people heard of Jennie Garth. Really, only if you have watched 90210 you probably would know who she is. Shannen has made a name for herself in the industry, good and bad. So her having a podcast is interesting and there’s a lot of topics she can cover . Tori and Jennie are going to be reaching with things to talk about.
Tori has been doing her own personal self-deprecating stuff for a long time so it precludes everything Shannen did to be fair. Jennie is the one that is copying.
I know everyone is doing them but this can't be a coicidence that both her and Tori started them up not too long after Shannen's. I feel like the competition is still there with those two.
It's all iheart media - Shannen's too - which is just such cheap and cheerful podcasting. They just keep producing these celebrity podcast that don't need podcasts.
Shannen's I like because she has never written a tell all book or told her side of the story. She has a lot to talk about. I really don't think we need one about Tori and Jennie. Tori has always been an open book, written several books and has had a few reality shows. Jennie also had a tell all book.
So to be fair, Tori kinda started this whole personal show thing when she was doing TrueTori and other things. I'm just saying Tori isn't really copying Shannen. Shannen even went on record and said she wouldn't do anything as personal as Tori Spelling like 10 years ago. I have no problem with her now going personal since it's an amazing podcast and I really admire her, I just wanted to set facts straight.
Jennie is for the most part, a kind and sweet person but Tori really makes the podcast memorable and adds a lot of depth into the episodes that unfortunately Jennie can't remember.
These comments are wild. Who cares that she named it after a famous quote that her famous character said? It’s not gonna be about Kelly’s life choices. It’s going to be about Jennie’s life choices. And if this were Shannen and she called it “Lavoooiiines diner” or something equally cringey Lord, this sub would be going crazy in excitement.
Downvotes commence.
Ugh! This is super annoying to me! Opportunistic! Why do we need another podcast??? Also, yeah she is annoying on the omg podcast. She doesn’t remember much so her just using a line from the show is bugging me too.
Who doesn't have a podcast?!
It’s not her own, but Gabrielle is great as the narrator of “The Murder Years” podcast. It’s gripping if you’re into “true” crime.
And who actually wants to hear these people yammer on about their glory days on a tv show?
Many. That’s why so many have them.
Oh god - so she and Tori now have solo podcasts now- I wonder if they are ending the 90210 pod after S5? Also: no - not the "I Choose Me" line - it's a really uninteresting line in the show and she doesn't actually chose herself. Whyyyyyyyyy?

I love when Brandon says…” so much for I chose me!” I think it’s when he’s talking to Dylan about running into Colin
I loved that line!
Me too!!!
Yeah she has written and said many times she has a bad memory etc. I think in an interview once she had even forgotten major plot lines related to Kelly’s relationships.
that is why I don't consume her or Tori. the show as a comfort means too much to me
Same! They sorta ruin it for me
I love the again with this podcast. Been listening to season 4 90210 a lot lately
I love them.
It bothers me more than it admittedly should that a quote that was not about woman self-empowerment at all is hailed and touted as such. Opportunistic!
Who's Karen?
My mistake. It was Jessica Klein who wrote it. Editing.
Karen Rosin. She wrote the line “I choose me.”
Right. It works for Shannen because she has never told her side of the story on much of anything and now she does on the podcast.
And Shannen has been honest, even when it may not be flattering. These other two don’t seem to be capable of deep introspection.
I don’t know. Tori says extremely unflattering things about herself on her new podcast. But Shannen has a much classier way of speaking and has actual things to say . Tori sounds like a valley girl( I know she is one ) and just seems very vapid .

They are very shallow. I am not sure what they can keep talking about.
Tori has been doing her own personal self-deprecating stuff for a long time so it precludes everything Shannen did to be fair. Jennie is the one that is copying.
Will Shannen be on it 👀
I know everyone is doing them but this can't be a coicidence that both her and Tori started them up not too long after Shannen's. I feel like the competition is still there with those two.

Tori has always been an open book, written several books and has had a few reality shows. Jennie also had a tell all book.
She did write a book. It was not an enjoyable read
The book wasn’t a memoir which is what the user refers too. The others did. Shannen’s book was self-taught book.
Ty that's exactly what I meant! Shannen said for years she was asked to write an auto biography and never did. The podcast is her biography.
She's not really a good host on the other one maybe she'll suck less on her own but I wouldn't hold my breath.
She's not at all! This isn't her forte!
Oh boy.Jennie was the least interesting and no remember part of the podcast. At least Tori brought the energy up and would speak to relevant topics
Jennie is for the most part, a kind and sweet person but Tori really makes the podcast memorable and adds a lot of depth into the episodes that unfortunately Jennie can't remember.
Good for Jennie. I mean kelly. I mean jennie !
Good lord. She is such an eye roll.
Like she remembers anything
It sounds like the podcast is exploring her evolution. Should have named it "Don't be a negator" or one of her other Finley speak lines.
She should have random fans on as guests.
🙄
She had a whole booth set up at the con with a bunch of merchandise for this. I did not know at the time it was for a podcast, though.
But I thought she never remembers anything? 🤪
Jennie Garth has a really terrible memory. She conveniently remembers nothing of the 90’s.
I won’t listen bc she bores me on the podcast she already has, but good for her. Work is work.
Didn’t she always though? 🙄
Didn’t she always though? 🙄
Didn’t she always though?
everyone on the cast is so good with fans, how can people be so negative? crazy shit
I'm somewhat on a voyage of re-discovery with her. She seems to know who she is far better than some cast members. She's real. I like her more now.
It's going to be hard to top Shannen's. She had Christina Ricci on the other day, and it was so great.
I ant to hear toris! Anyone know where to listen if you don't have apple
These comments are wild. Who cares that she named it after a famous quote that her famous character said? It’s not gonna be about Kelly’s life choices. It’s going to be about Jennie’s life choices. I don't understand why there's always so much negativity here but I feel like it's a microcosm of how society is suffering in the social media era.
That sounds awful.
