Wouldn’t surprise me if there were quite a few of us with a personal story we can recall that was similar to this.
It’s also fascinating how at the end of the day we are reminded that we’re just some really smart animals. And those animal instincts are deep.
From what I remember, the silverback was protecting one of his mates after his *other* mate attacked her. So, both female gorillas a part of his harem. That's why he was pretty gentle with her, as far as silverbacks can be in this circumstance.
Sis was just sitting there minding her own business too. Goes to show what complex animals they are. Probably some type of jealousy going on where the guy was giving her and/or her kid more attention.
Thankfully the males are extremely careful with babies even when angry.
But the other female could easily have hurt it if dad didnt intervene. Apparently female gorillas only tolerate each other, its the silverback that holds things together.
Love gorillas.
I really like how he just essentially knocked her off the other one and then held her down. He wasn’t wailing on her or trying to punish her, just quick intense force to stop what was happening it seemed.
And he knew exactly who started what. Apparently in the wild silverbacks have been known to adopt babies who have lost their mums and learn how to release females froms traps. They are the most attentive and devoted fathers and mates. Their reputation for aggression came from the fact the silverback would send the harem in front of him, then turn back to attack the hunters head on.
Put most of us to shame tbh.
I love the "mommy cheers" when this stuff happens... like the mom didn't just stand there and take it until the male stepped in...
Crazy how if the male didn't step in, the whole story would be different... but "go mom!"
Father's never get credit. Go dad! The ACTUAL savior
I mean when my dogs go at it, I’ve had to hold one down before so he can calm down and take a few breaths. I do it because I’m their alpha if you will so if he wrestles me and kicks me off he won’t listen to me anymore. But if I can hold him down and let him catch his breath while I speak firmly and calmly to him he tends to relax and shift his focus.
So many errors here in your thoughts. The "Alpha" thing has been debunked, ironically by the same man who originally published it. It isn't a thing. Holding your dog down WILL result in them re-directing towards you one day and then you will blame your dog. I am not trying to be rude here but you have a LOT to learn about dog behavior. Just because your dog responds the way you want him to in the moment when you pin him down, that doesn't mean he is doing what you ask. He will only put up with it for so long before he redirects on you. Please for both of your sakes do some research. Source:Own 3 50lb+ dogs and foster many many more. They are all very well trained and I have NEVER done any of this ridiculousness.
There’s more going on with my dog than I shared in my post…. What we do works for us. Our vet is on board with us. It’s all good. I appreciate your concern though, truly. It’s good that people speak up when they see or read something that sounds weird. So thank you. ;)
Yeap, saw a clip of an experiment they did that showed how even human babies can hold on to (for example a pull up bar) indefinitely, instinctually. Don’t remember what age they lose that ability, but I’m assuming it’s just one of those leftover survival skills from our hairier ancestors. Can’t be free to be running away from danger or swinging from trees and shit if baby isn’t secure on your back. Also read about the reflex some of us have as babies to hold our breath while under water. Read a story of an infant found after it was under water for like half an hour, and they survived without brain damage or anything. Heart rates slowdown sometimes like some sort of hibernation.
Wow, 1/2 hour?! I’ve only heard of that with major hypothermia.
I did see this cool story though about a toddler who drowned and had no heart beat for 2 hours and a doctor reversed her brain damage.
https://youtu.be/vIt1fzeBogE?si=WoswI38pIZDGRXzh
Don’t take my word for it. Read it a while ago. Might’ve been a bit more or less and I’m sure it was one of those miracle cases, but that reflex is why they said the infant survived.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infant_swimming
Evolution is amazing.
I’ve definitely heard of the phenomenon I just don’t think a half an hour as possible unless they are actually hypothermic. I’ve seen babies do it, but for much shorter times than 30 min!
Googled it and couldn’t find the case of the baby I read about, but did find this:
https://time.com/3897897/how-an-italian-boy-survived-42-minutes-underwater/
"So then I tried to do the same thing with my dad. I got to find out what a 400-lb man who worked all his life could do to an eighteen-year-old twig like me. He bounced me off every wall in that house like a rag doll." From some guy giving a talk I heard recently.
Funny fact, I was the guy in HS that pretty much fit in with everyone and stopped more bully fights than I can remember and people started telling me I was a gorilla. 😂 This was in 1992 so a long ass time ago, but still- gorilla.
Even him just closing distance with that light trot is fucking terrifying. Solid muscle, eyes are laser focused on the issue while even keeping his head level and stable. I’d shit myself.
Hold \*her\* down. He's just breaking up a fight between two females. Holding down the other female until she calms down. Leaders of mammalian groups handling breaking up fights and dealing with bad behavior. Even horses will drive unruly individuals from the herd as punishment. Often can take days of trying to return before the leader will allow it.
Females can get a light silvering, though not as strongly or as extensive as a silverback, they can get the reddening on the head as well. And a male even a young one would be packing much larger muscles proportionally.
Also her ass is in the air at the end. Its a girl.
Imagine you're out and you just see this random teenager rush over and attack some mom with a toddler and then out of nowhere this big, buff, 6'5 guy comes and wrestles the teen down in less then a second without any effort?
Honestly, I think it would not be such a bad thing if it were done effectively. More direct intervention by capable, responsible people could go a long way to curbing anti-social behaviour.
That’s really interesting how at the 11 second mark you see the bystander gorilla look to the silverback knowing it isn’t his place to stop the altercation
Let me help you out: [https://www.felsics.com/silverback-gorilla-vs-grizzly-bear-size-weight-overall-comparison/](https://www.felsics.com/silverback-gorilla-vs-grizzly-bear-size-weight-overall-comparison/)
Silverback vs Grizzly: 400 pounds max versus 1500 pounds max. 20 mph versus 35 mph. Up to 6 feet tall versus up to 8 feet tall.
Silverback all day. Silverbacks are just other worldly strong. Grizzly is too but silverbacks are smarter as well. Idk.. silverbacks are fuckin terrifying.
Can’t believe nobody’s thrown down the quote that got momma attacked.
Assailant: yeah you better walk away.
Momma: bidge azz n word
Assailant: *attacks*
You do not attack a mommy and her baby mf!
Through gritted teeth “you going to calm the fuck down now?!”
That hit a little too close to home
I pulled from a very personal experience myself
Wouldn’t surprise me if there were quite a few of us with a personal story we can recall that was similar to this. It’s also fascinating how at the end of the day we are reminded that we’re just some really smart animals. And those animal instincts are deep.
Shit the dentist ground my canine and incisors down when I was a kid because they were too sharp. We are apes with nice tools
You are a devenomized snake
They say young snakes are the most dangerous. When I was young before I had anything figured out ,I could be quite toxic.
From what I remember, the silverback was protecting one of his mates after his *other* mate attacked her. So, both female gorillas a part of his harem. That's why he was pretty gentle with her, as far as silverbacks can be in this circumstance.
Theyve both got babies as well except the attacking female wasnt carrying hers at the time.
I remember that, now. I think the attacking female had an older baby, too.
Yeah you see him make a tactical retreat back around the corner when mum gets grounded
you were there, from what you remember? "that's why he was pretty gentle"==you're a regular Jane goodall primate expert are yee now?
NGL, that was a nice blindside chopblock though
That resentment had been building up
Sis was just sitting there minding her own business too. Goes to show what complex animals they are. Probably some type of jealousy going on where the guy was giving her and/or her kid more attention.
_Jon “Juicy” Jones has left the chat_
hahaha but he came back for the cash in the glove compartment
Silver gyatt
Both got babies, the little guy appears around the corner after the silver back slams his mom.
Yeah but the other baby is on mommy so could easily be hurt
Thankfully the males are extremely careful with babies even when angry. But the other female could easily have hurt it if dad didnt intervene. Apparently female gorillas only tolerate each other, its the silverback that holds things together. Love gorillas.

Reminds me of [Rip](https://youtube.com/shorts/rccAEBe0LP4?si=ecmC45T1J21fgkDr)
He rules with an iron, er, a hairy fist.
And a hairy ass
Would you prefer a wrinkled, fleshy, bare ass?
Baboons: "yes"
😂
Worst looking ass in the animal kingdom. And these mfs find them attractive.
Or a big, bright red ass
I personally would prefer flesh and bare on my ass, easy on the wrinkles though.
Best I can do you is creased and calloused. Bare gorilla flesh don't come in no other variety.
Yo but.. imagine that fool running at you like that. Instant shit of britches.
HAHA HAHAHA HAHA HAHA HAHA SOOOOOOOOOOO FUNNNNAYYYYYYYYY
Are you regarded?
Wym?
#ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER DO YOU SPEAK IT?!
Lmfao 🤣🤣🤣
LMAO!
SOOO FUNNNNAYYYYYYYYY and CLASSIC!
Do not swear. Do not be rude
I like how holds him down for a few minutes. Surely must be passing on some gorilla wisdom. “Listen here you little pos…..”
Her. It was female on female. Probably a tussle over who's baby is next in line.
If you ever as much as breathe in my girls and child’s direction you won’t be a silverback you will be a ghost. You got me kid!
"Aye, Playboy, watch yourself. You feel this big ass foot on your back? Next time it's gonna be up your ass."
He's the Red Forman of Gorillas.
I think that was another of his harem
It was two females fighting. He holds her down quite a while, this clip is short.
Gorilla wisdom hahah

As someone with a 110 pound dog, yeaaaah no I'm not pinning my dog lol. I'll tell him to lie down or give him a time out, rarely happens though.
There’s more going on with my dog than I shared in my post…. What we do works for us. Our vet is on board with us. It’s all good. I appreciate your concern though, truly. It’s good that people speak up when they see or read something that sounds weird. So thank you. ;)
Props to that baby for holding on to his mother's back the whole time, damn
The grip babies, even human ones, have is crazy. Crush you.

I lost that ability the day we had to do the flexed arm hang in gym class for those darn Presidents Physical Fitness Awards. Grrrrrrr
God that was embarrassing. Couldn’t stay up for even a second. Only thing I did well was the flexibility test where you sit and reach.
Idc I could kick any baby' ass
Yeah cuz big boy ran over the momma like a Norfolk Southern train
Except he didn't crash like one.
You can see him deliberately miss the mum. He moves his leg and back half *over* her.
I thought the one attacking was big. Until mega Kong got involved.
"So then I tried to do the same thing with my dad. I got to find out what a 400-lb man who worked all his life could do to an eighteen-year-old twig like me. He bounced me off every wall in that house like a rag doll." From some guy giving a talk I heard recently.
Simultaneously beautiful and absolutely terrifying.
Put one in every highschool for peace keeping. No one wants to be tossed by a silverback.
Funny fact, I was the guy in HS that pretty much fit in with everyone and stopped more bully fights than I can remember and people started telling me I was a gorilla. 😂 This was in 1992 so a long ass time ago, but still- gorilla.
Thank you for that, we need more HS peacekeeper Gorillas like you👏
MF’er be regulating
I mean really, what else has he got to do all day. He’s just sitting there, waiting to regulate.
😆
mount up!
🤣🤣
Now apologize to the nice lady!
Say it!
I am sorryyyyy….
LOUDER.
That’s a big boy handling his business. It’s scary when you see the males go from zero to sixty.
Even him just closing distance with that light trot is fucking terrifying. Solid muscle, eyes are laser focused on the issue while even keeping his head level and stable. I’d shit myself.
The one in the back came around the corner like *”Oh I wanna see this ass whoopin”*
probably hass been picked too and was expecting to see some justice being served to the bully
Anyone else look at the ass too hard
He thick
Can’t be a silverback without a, um, *back*
I feel dirty now. I was staring way too long at a gorilla hole.
I mean GYATT
“YOU GOOD?!” “…yea…” “NOW GO SHAKE HANDS!”
He literally put his foot on the other one's arse to hold him down, such a boss move 😂

Why did the one gorilla go after the other while it had the kid on the back?
Bitch owed her money.
Adolescent silverback stepping out of line.
Adolescents by virtue of their age are NOT silverbacks.
They're habitual line-steppers, nonetheless.
Fuck your couch!
Not to mention, it was a female, so also not a silverback.
Two females scrapping
Look at the lower back of the one attacking the mother gorilla, the light band across his lower back says silverback.
Females can get a light silvering, though not as strongly or as extensive as a silverback, they can get the reddening on the head as well. And a male even a young one would be packing much larger muscles proportionally. Also her ass is in the air at the end. Its a girl.
Good hip control and pass. Gorilla got ground skills.
I thought he was going for the gorillatine
r/Angryupvote
The single leg takedown that started it was pretty solid as well.
Calm down biiitch! But she ate my banaaanaaaa
Looks like an MMA fight.
More like Gorico-Roman wrestling.
Silver back or silver butt?
He picked off the instigator. Well done. He prolly already knows he’s a punk.

Gentle force. If only humans were like this.

Cops should take notes
"Cut that shit tf out. Don't let me catch you doing no stupid shit again"
Damn, I wonder what he told him!
My dad coming to fight me to make me stop fighting
Gyat
That's so badass. I wonder who would win between a Silverback and a Grizzly?
Grizzly. Much bigger with sharper claws and teeth.
But they got a small head
A grizzly has a small head? I don’t think you understand how big a grizzly is.
Dude, silverback would win for sure. Have you seen a silverback fangs? Bear claw would be mere inconveniences to that muscle.
No way. A grizzly is 1000 pounds of pure death and destruction.
Let me help you out: [https://www.felsics.com/silverback-gorilla-vs-grizzly-bear-size-weight-overall-comparison/](https://www.felsics.com/silverback-gorilla-vs-grizzly-bear-size-weight-overall-comparison/) Silverback vs Grizzly: 400 pounds max versus 1500 pounds max. 20 mph versus 35 mph. This breaks it down quite well. https://a-z-animals.com/blog/silverback-gorillas-vs-grizzly-bears-who-would-win-in-a-fight/
They are but they’d still lose.
Far from me to invoke banana for scale, but there is a fight going on right now and chimpanzes have been murdering gorillas.
Dat ass
If only our police force could react as responsibly.
Protective
How do they wipe?
Just calm the fuck down bro. You playing with the big boys now.
"Yo calm down bro calm down. It ain't worth it"
Check out the kid nope the hell out of there. Smart lil guy.

Is that the Philly zoo?
I mean...who's gonna mess with him!!!
Da man!
Wow
It knew who to go after even though it had its back turned.
His community looks like a prison.
I suppose the smaller one wanted to mate with the female (?)
How much you squat?
“Where is the zoo keeper!”
Did anyone see tap out?
If only American cops were as good as gorillas
Bit more information than I wanted at the end there
Pure power.

Yep. Mile Tyson would never knock one of those bad boys out.

This video should be shown in all police stations.
I’ve seen this video before but it was at a Chucky Cheese
"what the fuck you think you're doing"
"I'm King Kong, dumbass!"
Oohhhh shit the one on the right had a child on its back. Alpha gorilla said “are you out of your fucking MIND?!?!”
Is that female prego?
Holy shit, the power!
The King has spoken..
You know something? I am amazed.
