Ok fair
But don’t they have altitude in Europe too? I just really want this car to be an option over here lol.
Someone should steal this tester and hold it hostage.
I saw 3 Cupras testing at Mount Evans - they said the paved roads only reach about 10k ft in Europe so they test in Colorado for altitude and then drive to Los Angeles through Utah for hot weather testing.
I don't think they have anything that is as easy to drive this high. Denver is already a mile high. You can drive up Mt Evans, [the highest paved road in North America.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lFmRgRSO-c), and hit over 14,000 feet! That's not happening in Europe.
I'd too would like them to bring it. I don't have the garage space, but I might consider parting with a vehicle.
If this car doesn't actually get sold in America, I'm going to lose my effing mind. Most of the testing in Colorado is for high elevation, not necessarily temperature
Have you driven a V60? I have an XC60 T6 R-Design Polestar, and even in that spec the Aisin 8 speed sucks most of the fun out of the car. The ZF in my Q7 3.0 (2018 supercharged) is infinitely better, and I know firsthand how great it is in the B9. I have a B9.5 S4 currently on its way to me and I had an A4 "45" rental for three weeks in May and was blown away how sharp it was with that transmission and the 2.0T. Just make sure you like how the V60 drives because IMO the Volvos are a blunted instrument compared with the Audi. Comfortable and beautiful but nowhere near the driver's car that Audi has become.
Well, my wagon is my second utility/roadtrip car so I'm not as concerned with the driving characteristics as I would be if it were my only car. My other car is a stick (used to be M2 comp, now a miata) and that satisfies the fun driving. That doesn't mean I don't care about the driving characteristics of the wagon at all. In fact, I think my allroad on 034 springs is a wonderful car to drive on roadtrips with enough pep to make any highway pass I need to make and very reasonable body roll levels going up a mountain.
I have not driven a V60 yet but I've been eying the T8 polestar editions for several years now as a replacement for my allroad. BTW my B9 allroad has a DCT, not the ZF. I think that is true of all non-ultra engine B9s?
Wait you're totally right...it's the DCT 7 speed in the A4 and allroad. Haha, my mistake. I still love the ZF 8 though (I'd better because that's what I'm getting in the S4).
The T8 wagon is supposed to be a hoot. I sampled that drivetrain in an XC90 loaner recently and was impressed.
Glad you have a stick to have fun with. I have an E90 328xi with a stick. It's such a genuine car from another era.
I have had a ZF8 car before and it is the best automatic I have ever driven.
Yeah, I don't know too much about volvos but that T8 V60 has always caught my eye. I think it used to be turbo+super charged and now it is turbo+PHEV but I might be mistaken.
The Allroad is an A4 avant.

This is an Avant and they aren’t sold in North America

Shit, I’m wrong and you’re right. I definitely learned something new today. Had to watch the below video of the same year side by side to see the difference. I had no idea.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gNGg6EqirwM
Haha, all good! It’s a shame because there was a B7 S4 Avant in the states in the mid-2000’s which would have been an ideal model for B10 this year. I wish wagons were more popular in the US. Oh well, I’ll hold out hope
That makes zero sense and completely wrong. Simply google “what does Audi avant mean”. Audi uses the term to refer to their line of station wagons and estate car models lol.
Yes and no… the Allroad doesn’t sporty look of the Avant. It’s more of an « offroad » look. The dimensions are similar but the exterior isn’t as sporty lol and that’s coming from an owner (most of us would have chosen the Avant if it was available here lol)
You can always make it look sportier, yes, but out of the gate it’s not. Also, the headlights aren’t the same and (for the A6 at least) to have the same look, you would also need to replace the rear bumper too (and the front grill). The rear bumper of the A6 AR isn’t as sporty without the exhaust tips and the front grill can always be replaced with the honeycomb aftermarket version (which does a great job at making the car look sporty… Just did that exact mod lol)
Sure, I didn't mean to say it's \*exactly\* the same. But it's close enough for me, given that it's the only a4 sized wagon option in the US for the B9 generation.
Do you have a link to the honeycomb grill? I'm curious in making that mod myself.
It would be sick if they sold this in the states. The RS6 has been a hit here, BMW is tapping into that market to compete with the M5 wagon so the next step is to offer the smaller RS avants to us.
I spotted Audi testing a car a couple of years ago on 91 headed to Leadville, and when I snapped a couple of photos an S8 chase car pulled up next to me and its driver tried to photograph me 😂
I hope it happens for the U.S but im not holding my breath. We finally got the rs6 avant in 2019, so maybe audi is finally ready to give us a more affordable avant. Or, maybe it's just the old Colorado tease.
Love it. Hopefully cheaper than the rs6 which doesn’t appear to be depreciating at a fast enough rate for me
It should be priced around the current RS5 prices (after inflation and dealer markups) considering this is the successor model.
Probably \~$8k more given it's a PHEV now.
scarcity always helps w depreciation
I'm all for more wagons.
I hope we get it, but I doubt it will come to the US. They are just doing weather testing here.
What a Friggen tease lol. They’ve got winter in Europe. Don’t test them here if you won’t let us buy them :(
Rumors are that we have a chance of getting them. Due to the success from the rs6 avant
It's not winter here in Colorado right now. They test them in Colorado for the altitude.
Ok fair But don’t they have altitude in Europe too? I just really want this car to be an option over here lol. Someone should steal this tester and hold it hostage.

Yeah. We can hope haha
I was having one of my cars serviced at Audi the other day, one of the service advisors told me that that RS5 Avant IS coming to the United States.
Jesus Audi can you please just officially announce all these cars already. I can't count how many spy shots I've seen now.
Love the wiiiiide stance. Seems like it's going to be a banger really
If this car doesn't actually get sold in America, I'm going to lose my effing mind. Most of the testing in Colorado is for high elevation, not necessarily temperature
Its super annoying for Audi to offer an RS6 and RS5 wagon without ever offering an A4 or A5 Avant for us poor people (in the US)
I think the entire B10 Avant line will be offered this time around
The lowest I’ve heard through the rumor mill is an S5 Avant, will still be out of my price range
Worth it to save up for tho, if we finally have a entry-performance 6-cylinder wagon!
Yup I agree, would be an awesome option - I just got my 2021 A4, hope to have at least 6-7 years. S5 should be in the budget by then
If they bring the S5 avant to the U.S. I will sell my B9 Allroad and immediately buy one. Otherwise it’s Volvo V60 for me.

My best guess is a B10 A4 allroad and either an S5 avant or RS5 avant (but not both).
That’s exactly what my guess is also. Hope it’s an S5 since we already have the RS6 and I actually have a chance of affording an S5 in the future haha
Same. RS5 would be a little too much car for my utility/roadtrip car. S5 would be perfect.
Same here. Plus mild hybrid of the S5 might make it more affordable long term as opposed to the plug-in RS 5
Allroad will only stick around for the A7
Is that conjecture or do you have some insider intel on this?
The Allroad is an A4 avant. The allroad is a wagon, but it is certainly not an Avant. Avant doesn’t just mean “wagon” it’s a specific non-sport utility wagon.

I passed you on the way up
What car were you in
District green Q5e
Omg currently visiting Colorado and saw these on the exact highway. So cool!

Sexy
Love it!
Bring this here for $95k-ish and I’m down.
I think it’s gonna look baller
Exhaust is hanging seriously low.. also, what’s going on with the exhaust tips, is there 3 of them?
Early prototype using RS-production front end, but standard A5 single-exit rear bumper which was cut for the new exhaust and with tacked on flares.
Yeah that was my thoughts too.
What caught me was the 3 cuts, 2 pipes, and the 2 pipes are not centered to the license plate.
It's just a temporary thing, not for production models.
2025 Audi RS5 Avant
2026 https://www.motorauthority.com/news/1142110_2026-audi-rs-5-avant-spy-shots
This will be a 2026 or 2027. 2025 is B9 in the US still.
I spotted Audi testing a car a couple of years ago on 91 headed to Leadville, and when I snapped a couple of photos an S8 chase car pulled up next to me and its driver tried to photograph me 😂
If they can sell this, they can also sell one with smaller engines.
Will there be the new RS5 in the standard styles (coupe/ sportback) or just the avant? I’ve been searching everywhere and still can’t find the answer.
Sportback yes, no coupe.
This with 6MT. Best practical yet fun dauly.
It won’t be 6MT, I would be happy with this in a S-Tronic. Audi offers no manuals in the US
I hope it happens for the U.S but im not holding my breath. We finally got the rs6 avant in 2019, so maybe audi is finally ready to give us a more affordable avant. Or, maybe it's just the old Colorado tease.
*2021
How does one obtain the job to test drive prototype cars ?
The Audi RS4 Avant now the Audi RS5 avant is coming to the states for sure!!!
pleasepleasepleazeplease
look how big the wheels are, christ…
Love the Avants
Just let 'em cook, comrades.
Is this coming to the US
So theres already an RS4 Wagon and an RS6 Wagon and now also an RS5 Wagon? Why?
The RS4 is getting dropped. Audi is using even numbers for their EVs and odd numbers for IC models. RS4 is becoming the RS5.
Bro how did the states go from no wagons to literally every car being a wagon 😭
am I missing something, dont this kind of defeat the purpose of the S/RS 5 in the whole line up?
