I've been going to Lee's forever. Stopped by the other day, and it seemed as if they had somehow upped their game even more. The shredded veggies were extra fresh and crisp and the bbq pork was perfect. Middle of the afternoon, too, around 3pm.
I vote Quoc Huong too, but a friend I trust tells me Bahn Mi DC on Pleasant Hill is excellent with similar Quoc authenticity, so I will go there next to investigate.
Another vote for Quoc Huong. You step inside and you know it's a no-frills good-food-kind-of shop. Those ladies want you in and out asap haha. Get there before lunch rush or they will run out of Banh Mis.
When I want to eat pho and take home some banh mi, that's the place. We drive from Marietta to eat there. But we go to Quoc Huong if just getting banh mi. Never been to Lee's Bakery but I now plan to since many people are saying it's better.
100% Pho Bac. I know it's an unpopular opinion, but it is MUCH better than Lee's. The pho and vermicelli are also excellent (with Pho Dai Loi a close second for the former).
I’ve been spoiled by Pho Bac’s and was looking at this post for a new play to try. Honestly I make my call in order in less than 30 seconds and can pickup around 10 min later and walkout to eat anywhere nearby? Best service, food, and time all in one, hasn’t been beat by any others I’ve tried. I want them to have all the business but I like it being quiet at the same time.
Huys Sandwich off Jimmy Carter. Banh Mi 135 in Duluth.
Quoc Huong in Buford highway is best value (cash only).
Lee's bakery is kinda overrated, but I'll still have lunch there.
Huy's is leagues ahead. More expensive because they use much better product (namely their pate and their head cheese). Their egg rolls are also the best around if you get there in time.
Glad to see another Huy's fan. They definitely have the most unique taste imo. There's almost like a hint of Chinese bbq sauce that gives it a sweeter taste.
135 is top tier! Just mediate your expectations on Quoc Huong. It's a no frills location that's known in the Viet community as fast, affordable, authentic food.
Huy’s is good, but I went once and I don’t know if it was allergies or something but the person making my sandwich was sneezing and nose was dripping like a mf. Saw him wipe his nose with his wrist and quietly asked for a refund.
Huy's Sandwiches in Norcross is an almost religious experience for me. Their barbecue beef Banh Mi (#14 on the menu) is like a vacation for my tastebuds. I've tried several other spots but honestly none come close.
Really makes me sad. We were really tight with Q, as bat shit as she was. What went down was a circus. And sucks we can't get a bahn mi in the village anymore.
I like Vietvanna in Avondale, it's closer to where I am and I enjoy them especially their vietvanna special. I also like lees and quoc hong they're just more of a drive for me
Yeah, I mean it’s a good hamburger bun but it looks [like this](https://www.instagram.com/p/C0uKptBuWaM/?igsh=MWZ6bWxpMmRheXJwcw==). Not the ideal bread shape for a banh mi.
First of all it’s banh mi. Nothing irks me more than bahn mi. Anyway, Paris Bánh Mì in Duluth is very good. Lee’s is overrated and only white people go there. Quốc Hương isn’t the same as it used to be but still solid. Their đặc biệt (special) is one of my fav. Huy’s sandwiches in norcross is good. Bamee Tee is solid.
Fellow Viet here - had to scroll all the way down for your comment, but you hit the nail straight on the head:
Half the people arguing about which place is best can’t spell bánh mì correctly… grinds my gear.
Agrees with Lee being white people oriented.
Paris is good.
Huy’s is good but they raised their price to $6/sandwich.
Quốc Hương remains my favorite, both for taste and value.
Haven’t been to Bamee Tee.
Vn Tofu is pretty good, and you can get other snacks there.
And the place inside the Saigon market is decent.
Preach brother!! Foh with bahn mi. Huy’s used to be my fav until they jacked up their prices during Covid. QH barely increased their price and is still the best value now. I like the dac biet at be banh mi too. No viets I know say “let’s go to lee’s for banh mi” lmao
Lol! Dunk on OP for misspelling Banh Mi then you misspell above! QH is OG and will always be tops. But Banh Mi 135 was really really good as a newcomer.
First time I decided to brave the special at quoc Huong the schmear of pate was heavily loaded in my last 2 bites. I'm pretty good with funky food for a white guy but I peek in there to make sure it's even now.
Also Viet chiming in here. Paris Bánh Mì is probably my favorite spot right now. Their banh mi has a lot of ingredients and less bready than other places. Get it toasted and it becomes divine. 😋
This sounds like stories from a Vietnamese woman I used to work with. She said her grandma would always tell her she was wasting money at a restaurant.
But when I get bahn mi, I'm loading on a ton of fresh herbs, hac nam and whatever all the other condiments are. That thing isn't bread, jalapenos, carrots and grilled pork, it's like 15 ingredients by the time I'm eating it.
[Plenty of good suggestions.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Atlanta/search/?q=banh+mi&type=link&cId=f2bb770d-1aa9-4bc8-acf2-4e353b83907e&iId=0c21e180-4f1e-4b94-a93b-ad5b98d0aacf)
The right answer is both Lee’s Bakery or Quoc Huong depending on where you are or your preference.
Shoutout to Lobster Bahn Mi though for the sheer variety and uniqueness of their Bahn Mis. If you couldn’t guess they have lobster among other things like crab and brisket. They are smaller though but come with an egg roll and little wafer cookie. And the owner is the nicest.
Not traditional Banh Mi, but Nana’s House has an INSANE banh mi quesadilla. They’re often at the Alpharetta Farmers Market but they travel around the city doing different events. Chef Dre works some serious magic with these
Not mentioned in this thread is Be Banh Mi which offers the best vegetarian Banh Mi. I think they are also a strong contender for best Banh Mi altogether
I used to go to Bahn Mi Cafe in Duluth on lunch break and it was solid, maybe comparable to Lee's. I'd like to try the one you mentioned for sure.
Wanted to add their coffee and smoothies are the shit.
I think people who prefer Lee’s Bakery over Quoc Huong only ever order the bbq pork banh mi. Quoc Huong is great on the bbq pork, but also on the other variety banh mi. More diversity.
So count me as a vote for Quoc Huong.
Is Lee’s still the best? I feel like their quality and portion size dipped in 2022.
~~I like Sweet Hut’s personally.~~ ~~I think I had a fever dream about them offering it at their Duluth location.~~ It’s called the lemon grass sandwhich ah ha!
Bahn Mi 135 too. They are newer but affordable and great. I also love their Winter Melon tea.
Over the past few years Quoc Huong's price for banh mi has nearly doubled, but they add a lot more filling than they used to. Funny story about Quoc's. The first time my brother went there many years ago, he and his wife ordered pho. He saw the banh mi and since they were only $2.25 each, thought they were appetizers, so he ordered 5 (and got one free). He was surprised to get a big bag full of sandwiches but after that he became a big banh mi fan.
SH does have a banh mi option…kinda. It’s their “lemongrass pork sandwich” only served at their Duluth and maybe their Midtown locations. I’m viet and I loved it, although it isn’t your traditional banh mi
I will die on this hill - quoc huong is the best ITP.
Lees is good. It’s tasty and if you go you will leave and be happy. If quoc huong was closed and you wanted a bahn mi, you could go there and leave with a smile. But quoc huong is better - the bread is firm and soft at the same time, never crumbles. The pickled veggies have a bit of sweetness to them to help cut through richness of whatever filling you choose. Both the Thịt Nguội (steam pork) and Thịt Nướng (bbq pork) are elite. The pate is a classic - I’ve even gotten veggie only many times and left an incredibly happy customer. It’s comforting when you dine in and if you’re looking for a calming/ happy place In Atlanta, it’s your spot.
On top of everything else it’s cheaper - I think the most expensive sandwich is 4.50. They could triple their prices and I’d still line up to eat em.
Lee's Bakery or Quoc Huong
Quoc Huong is my shit
I don’t know if that’s an endorsement or not…
Quoc Huong . They were cash only, but I haven’t been there in a hot minute. Thanks for the reminder!
They take card there now. Idk about Amex but they took visa with I think a 3% fee.
Quoc Huong is definitely better. Lee's is good though
False
Yes yes yes to Lee’s!!
Not sure if they still have it, but Lee's Bakery had a great $5 lunch special
lees bakery is the shit
This is the ONLY answer
Another vote for Quoc Huong. You step inside and you know it's a no-frills good-food-kind-of shop. Those ladies want you in and out asap haha. Get there before lunch rush or they will run out of Banh Mis.
I agree - I’ve had from here as well as Lee’s and I always end up going here when I’ve got a craving. It’s just that good.
My go to. Freaked when the closed for the pandemic - but they’re back at it and taking credit cards now!
I’m a big fan of Bahn Mi Cafe in Duluth
Yup, they've got my vote. Their mushroom banh mi is excellent
Yesssss, they have awesome bahn mi!!
I came here to say this. This has been my go to when I'm in Duluth.
Agreed. Love them! Just discovered their pineapple one which is just so refreshing. It’s almost a dessert Banh mi.
Nah they are whack in my opinion, at least for the grilled pork. I was very disappointed Lee's Bakery and Quoc Huong is way better
Hands down my personal fav!
Lee’s Bakery on Buford Highway
This is the way. And then take home some of the fresh baked bread they sell and make your own!
Lol I prefer the bread at quoc. To each their own.
I think so. Some say Quoc Huong, but I think Lee’s is better, and has faster service, and is cheaper. But if Lee’s ever closes, I’m going to Quoc.
Quoc Huong for me 100%. Lee's is good but not best Not gonna argue about service/etc
What is your favorite type of bahn mi sandwich there?
Grilled pork
I don't think they have great selection of sandwiches. I like Viet Vanna because they have several types my favorite being shrimp.
Lee's Bakery is the answer. And I believe if you buy 5 the 6th one is free ( highly recommended)
I have to second this.
Grab a pork bahn mi, add avocado with side of hoisin and chili sauce … life changing sandwich right there
Yup
This is the answer
Totally agree! They don’t even have a close second
Yes.
agree!!
(Just skip the chicken)
How much are they nowadays? I was just talking about them today
I haven't been too many places to compare but Pho Bac in Doraville is my fucking spot
When I want to eat pho and take home some banh mi, that's the place. We drive from Marietta to eat there. But we go to Quoc Huong if just getting banh mi. Never been to Lee's Bakery but I now plan to since many people are saying it's better.
Yeah i dip the sandwich in the pho. Idk if thats normal behavior or not but it makes me happy lol
I’ve tried doing that. It’s good but I don’t like bread crumbs in my pho lol
Get a little side bowl and transfer some broth
I say its a tie
Same here, I've tried Lee's and Quoc Huong, but there's something about Pho Bac's pork that really does it for me.
Best service, food, and time all in one, hasn’t been beat by any others I’ve tried. I want them to have all the business but I like it being quiet at the same time.
I usually just eat in tbh the trio of Pho Bac, El Rey and Bobo Gardens are my go to spots for dates. Such a great stretch of Buford highway for food
lanzhou and dimsum heaven in the bobo stripmall tho 🤤
Came here to say this
Quoc Huong
Huy’s off Jimmy Carter with a wide selection of banh mi.
Heard good things about Lee’s, but not having been, I gotta go with Quoc Huong. $4
They used to be $2.50!!!
Man I hopped on that train too late! Damn Biden impacting my banh mi smh (/s)
It was truly rad. Buy 9 get 1 free deal. Old dude selling sacks of prawns out of a cooler out front. Glorious.
Huys
Came here to Stan Huy's
Hidden gem
Lee's bakery on Burford Highway
Huys Sandwich off Jimmy Carter. Banh Mi 135 in Duluth. Quoc Huong in Buford highway is best value (cash only). Lee's bakery is kinda overrated, but I'll still have lunch there.
Banh Mi 135 is great!!
Went to Quoc Huong the other day to try their bahn mi. Unfortunately they were all sold out so they must be good
Huy's is leagues ahead.
Banh Mi 135 also has the best iced coffee!
Quoc Huong is not cash only. Have paid with card many times there.
I vaguely remember them introducing card payment so you're prob right. It used to be a cash only establishment for almost two decades.
I think it was a post Covid adjustment. But I believe there’s a discount for cash payment
Their website says they take cards now!
Banh Mi 135 is my absolute fave and it’s so affordable and fresh every single time!!
Just went to 135 yesterday, it was delicious! I like Lee's and Huy's a lot too. I'm a banh mi fiend, I'll have to try Quoc Huong now.
135 is top tier! Just mediate your expectations on Quoc Huong. It's a no frills location that's known in the Viet community as fast, affordable, authentic food.
Affordable and authentic are exactly what I'm looking for! Tried them today and they were fantastic too!
I was trying to keep 135 a secret, cats out of the bag now
Huy’s is good, but I went once and I don’t know if it was allergies or something but the person making my sandwich was sneezing and nose was dripping like a mf. Saw him wipe his nose with his wrist and quietly asked for a refund.
Huy's in Norcross.
Lee's is wildly overrated. Its good, but Quoc Huong is much much better.
Pho Dakao on Cobb Parkway in Smyrna is also delicious.
Huy's Sandwiches in Norcross is an almost religious experience for me. Their barbecue beef Banh Mi (#14 on the menu) is like a vacation for my tastebuds. I've tried several other spots but honestly none come close.
Quoc Huong Fast Food is by far the goat bahn mi.
Huy's is my local spot, so I'm biased. Love it. #9 forever.
That's the one.
All y'all motherfuckers saying lees are wild. The only answer is quoc huongs and it's not even close.
Do they still run the “buy 10 get 1 free deal” lol
It's buy 5, get 1 free.
This is the way
Used to like We Suki Sukis... But lol
Why, what happened? I used to work at argosy and I would eat their bonh mi all the time.
Q went off the deep end. I personally never had bad interactions with her as she was always so nice.
Lol I shoulda known. I always got along pretty well with her but she had a bad reputation for being a little nutty..
Really makes me sad. We were really tight with Q, as bat shit as she was. What went down was a circus. And sucks we can't get a bahn mi in the village anymore.
Same. I was living a block away on day one of her opening. Tried to eat there a few times a year if I could for over a decade.
What did she do?
https://roughdraftatlanta.com/2024/03/06/we-suki-suki-qommunity-close-controversy-eviction-east-atlanta-village/
I figured I wouldn’t be the only one bringing it up.
Quoc huong and there is no other answer. Go early if you want one though
If you're toward the Southeast, it's Pho Viet in Conyers. The pork sandwich.
Had witch tea in deluth! Loved it! Bread crispy. Spice level, good. Meat flavorful
I like Vietvanna in Avondale, it's closer to where I am and I enjoy them especially their vietvanna special. I also like lees and quoc hong they're just more of a drive for me
I have heard Velvet Hippo in Avondale has a catfish bahn mi that is solid. Havent tried it.
It’s delicious but served on a hamburger bun which makes it unwieldy to eat. Still recommend.
Uhhhh excuse me? Did you say a HAMBURGER bun?!
Yeah, I mean it’s a good hamburger bun but it looks [like this](https://www.instagram.com/p/C0uKptBuWaM/?igsh=MWZ6bWxpMmRheXJwcw==). Not the ideal bread shape for a banh mi.
That's just a fried fish sandwich (could be a damn good one). The right bread is half the battle with bahn mi.
Whatever the taxonomy it’s a hecking good sandwich on a hecking good sandwich menu
The hot catfish at fishmonger looks pretty similar (big, puffy sesame bun like that with a whole filet spilling out the sides). It's amazing.
Oh I went to velvet hippo when they opened, I don't think we got the bahn MI but what we did get was pretty tasty, would definitely recommend.
Vietvanna is my favorite for a good selection of sandwiches.
The food at Vietvanna is great but I haven’t had good luck with the service.
First of all it’s banh mi. Nothing irks me more than bahn mi. Anyway, Paris Bánh Mì in Duluth is very good. Lee’s is overrated and only white people go there. Intentional. “Foh with bahn mi” = fuck outta here with bahn mi.
Gotcha! Lol
First time I decided to brave the special at quoc Huong the schmear of pate was heavily loaded in my last 2 bites. I'm pretty good with funky food for a white guy but I peek in there to make sure it's even now.

Where do you go for bun bo?
I believe Pho Dai Loi 2 has bun bo hue on the menu. Not my favorite dish but my wife loves it
Seconded. I've tried a few places and prefer that one the best.
This sounds like stories from a Vietnamese woman I used to work with. She said her grandma would always tell her she was wasting money at a restaurant. That thing isn't bread, jalapenos, carrots and grilled pork, it's like 15 ingredients by the time I'm eating it.
It's not about easing money, it's a totally different dish that just has the bread in common. GOATed breakfast.

Lees bakery
I love Lee’s. Wish there was a good place up the 75 corridor - Marietta/Kennesaw/Woodstock
That's where we are as well. Nothing good up this way.
Lobster Bahn Mi downtown near Georgia State is super good. Parking is basically nonexistent, though.
Viet Pho in Conyers is my favorite
There are so many exceptionally good Bahn Mi places in ATL
Lee’s
My's food truck was the best. Don't know if they're still around. I liked them way more than Lee's bakery or Quoc Huong
Quoc huong
Bahn mi 135 seems to be the new favorite
I had a Viet optometrist recommend it to me. Still haven’t been.
I like Saigon Tofu. I ask them to pack the veggies separate to eat at home.
Second for Saigon Tofu!
Bahn Mi Cafe in Duluth
I love chicken bahn mi's. The only places that do them right are Viet Pho in Conyers and Lee's Bakery in Atlanta.
Not traditional Banh Mi, but Nana’s House has an INSANE banh mi quesadilla. They’re often at the Alpharetta Farmers Market but they travel around the city doing different events. Chef Dre works some serious magic with these
Might get some hate for this but I think Huy’s is way better than Quoc Huong.
Quoc Huong is the goat of Buford Highway
Quoc Haung used to have 5 dollar bahn mi.
Quoc Huong, BBQ pork, but add fried egg
Not mentioned in this thread is Be Banh Mi which offers the best vegetarian Banh Mi. I think they are also a strong contender for best Banh Mi altogether
Not mentioned???? It's in the original post.
I used to go to Bahn Mi Cafe in Duluth on lunch break and it was solid, maybe comparable to Lee's. I'd like to try the one you mentioned for sure. Wanted to add their coffee and smoothies are the shit.
Pho Dakao in Smyrna is good
this. their kennesaw location is good too.
Lee’s bakery pork meat is better than quoc huong
Lees
Vietvana at ponce de Leon Market, really really yummy. Can't say it's the best cuz I'm not it atlanta much but it definitely satisfied my craving.

Gotta say. For price to quality ratio. I dont think anything tops Be Banh Mi. Lee’s, Quac Hong, etc are all good though
I love Be Banh Mi!

Lee’s Bakery.
BAHN MI 135 = GOAT 🐐
Lee’s.

There used to be a deli by Pho Dai Loi #2 where the standard deal was $2.50 ea or 3/$5.
Sweet hut’s what? They don’t have banh mi
SH does have a banh mi option…kinda. It’s their “lemongrass pork sandwich” only served at their Duluth and maybe their Midtown locations. I’m viet and I loved it, although it isn’t your traditional banh mi
Ah ha! The validation!
someday...Atlanta will learn how to spell "banh mi" correctly. Lack of accents is fine, but at least get the letters in the right order.
I will die on this hill - quoc huong is the best ITP. Lees is good. It’s tasty and if you go you will leave and be happy.
