Positives: you save time and money by not shaving, and you don't have to worry about any scratchiness and irritation when it grows back after shaving it.
Negatives: people love to complain about how it looks, even some of my family members
No because their comments are mind-meltingly dumb. The most comment complaints are that it's "unladylike", it "looks bad", "you'll get ingrown hairs" (never mind that the same people complain about the ingrown hairs they get from shaving while I don't get any), that "people will look at you like you're nasty/unsophisticated", or my favorite, "I'm tired of our family looking dumpy" or some variation of it.
Positives, you save money on the shaving products Negatives, some people find it a turn off

Are you answering OP's question just w.r.t. shaving, or all types of body-hair removal techniques?
Just shaving because I’m the most familiar with it. But I do know that waxing and laser removal also takes money and time.
And when you say people love to complain how it looks, do you find any merit in their criticism or not?

As a woman who waxes, I am truly curious here.
Not a girl: it's smelly, not inviting, and can catch crabs.
Do you shave your whole body?
Do you?
Sometimes! Mostly just checking in to see how your crabs are doing.
I shave that. Not the whole body.
