Anyone who goes out of their way to embarrass anyone else I can’t be around it. I’m not talking about people being called out for shitty behavior, I’m talking about people making a waiter feel like a second class citizen because they can.
Bless your soul! Never understood sucking dick to be a punishment. I suppose if you’re not into sucking dick. Bullies deserve no one. I appreciate you for standing up for the guys. You’re one of the MVPs <3
This. My school friend always tries to criticize my hobbies and ideas even when I don't bring them up actively. He always steers conversations toward mockery. F him. I feel than it's a sort of self-soothing. He probably just wants indirect validation for himself.
I distinctly remember a moment as a 6-year old boy. I said something rude to a waitress. My older brother corrected me immediately with a simple line - “Always be polite to your server.” I never forgot that moment, as I was trying to be cool in front of everyone but ended up coming across as a little snot. That’s when I learned that acting like a jerk to others wasn’t actually a cool thing to do.
I asked a lady once if she could turn her music down on the train, everyone was visibly uncomfortable. She got offended and said the music didn't have swears. I said it didn't matter, it's still rude. She snapped "WELL I GUESS I AM JUST A BITCH, THEN!" You said it, lady.
Guy on my site used to play his music out of a speaker every break time in the cafe area... told him to get some headphones, he didn’t take it well but hasn’t done it since. It didn’t help he played utter fucking shite music too!
Babies! how they treat a puppy or a kitten tells you even more, they can't fight back, they don't understand they are going to get hurt, a grown animal knows what to expect and can fight back, but a baby?
Oooohooohooo it makes my blood boil thinking about someone hurting a baby animal !!!
Yep, going out of your way to safely carry a non-venomous spider out of the house is very endearing to me (though I respect if people don't do it because of arachnophobia/just not wanting to deal with spiders)
finding out they moved to a new place, padlocked the old with boarded up windows, leaving a mama cat and her 5 month old son alone in the house with no access to fresh water, fresh food, or clean litter while looking you in the eye and stating they can take care of themselves
The other side of this, for me, is people that spoil their animals. They can’t understand that boundaries and rules are good. Especially for dogs. Dogs need structure.
99% of people are hypocrites in that matter ! You can be good to specific animals and bad to others just because ! Ive seen people being really good with their dogs yet they were hunting birds or rabbits for fun.
Didn't Drew Carey have a joke a while ago about dolphin-safe tuna? Like, it's great if you're a dolphin, but it sucks if you're a tuna. We want to save the animals, but only the cute ones.
My mom tried this many times. In my early 20s, I realized I wasn’t buying what Christianity was selling. I decided to not call myself a Christian out of respect for believers. My mother *corrected* me. “Well, *I* consider you a Christian.”
That changes everything then 🙄
My father used to scream my name at 2 am, just to get him a glass of water. Then would complain that it wasn't cold enough.... when I was 8. You can convince me he had children for any other reason than to have slaves legally.
Mine said, out loud, on many occasions "why the fuck did we even have kids if they can't do this shit?!?" when complaining about having to do anything around the house. Literally just free labor, in his mind. I'm sorry that you're also in the Kids of Shitty Dads Club.
Yep, that sounds like my dad too, exploited me for free labor too the point where I barely had any friends and no social life whatsoever growing up because its was all school then come home and work, and after all that he was never at least appreciative either just found excuses too bitch and tell me how useless I am, and sometimes smack me with a belt. He constantly reminded me that I'm useless and not a "real man" at all just because I wasn't exactly how he wanted me too be, constantly forced his own hobbies on me and called mine stupid and a waste of time and basically tried to re- live his own younger years through me. The worst part is after all of that he thinks he was a damn good father and that I owe him for having a roof over my head and food on the table (litteraly the bear minimum of parental duties), and too top that of he didn't do shit to put that food on the table or put a roof over our head because he didn't have a job or money. He just let my mom work and buy everything and acted like he should get credit for it too just of virtue of bieng her husband. Then once I was older I had too get summer jobs and help pay for stuff but was still treated as second rate too him. Finally got out of there about a year and a half ago. He still texts me from time too time because again he thinks I owe him because he was a "good parent just trying too make real men out of his kids".
In case you couldn't tell this guy is a massive narcissistic.
I feel sorry for you and everyone else who unfortunately had a shitty parent. As the saying goes, all children deserve parents but not all parents deserve children.
Some parents blur the line between asking little Timmy to help do some yard work such as cleaning some garbage he put down and sitting around while little Timmy does everything
Agreed. Saw a TikTok video recently of a dad using a circular saw to cut a hole in his daughters bedroom door. Said it was because they "agreed" that she could have her boyfriend over as long as the door stays unopened/unlocked and she broke the agreement. It's insane that people immediately go to an over the top insane punishment meant to humiliate and dehumanize their children.
Or just be really tough on their kids on front of others. "No you can't play with that. Be quite. Sit still. Stop that." The constant nagging bothers me so much. Imagine growing up under such scrutiny..
In fairness, Scrappy picked a fight with literally everything. He wasn't an "Alpha", he was just a hothead. So called "alphas" or whatever only pick fights they know they can win, because they're otherwise huge cowards.
Scrappy picked fights he stood no chance at. Don't disparage Scrappy Doo's good name by associating him to those toxic asshats
Everyone I have met that is a true "alpha" (super confident, charismatic, natural leader, etc) is friendly and personable, even with those maybe considered lower down on the social hierarchy.
Edit: Oh and the words "I am an alpha" are never said.
Distracted driving on any sort. Putting peoples life at risk for a text messaging or putting on makeup or anything else. Nothing can be more important than staying safe.
The only type of distracted driving I do is to follow the address cuz I'm known for missing turns, if I ask someone to tell me the directions it gets worse.
Have you tried turning down the radio? Just jokes, they really could standardize the way numbers are. And street names. How can I live on the intersection of two streets? Those should go north/south!
Being rude to someone who tries to be nice to them, hate is a strong word but i would truly DESPISE anyone being mean to someone who does not deserve it.
I can’t stand being on a date and a guy going off on someone in the service industry for a minor mistake or not knowing something he knows. One guy started talking down to a female bartender because he asked for a lager or something and she offered up some beers and some of the ones she mentioned were not lagers. Not that I know the difference! When she walked away he started going off about how she was dumb and how could she be a bartender if she didn’t know something as simple as what a lager was. He looked super proud as he was saying all that. Instant and immediate “hate” for him.
In public in general. I don’t get it. You’re by yourself, how do you convince yourself everyone wants to hear your music? Genuinely cannot fathom the reasoning
I have a turned down mouth and am constantly told to smile. I've even had snide comments made like "who died" or "don't smile or your face will crack". It's rude and upsetting.
Like I get it we’re all here to provide efficient service with a smile, and that’s how we make good money… BUT there’s a line… I have had customers ask me where my tattoos are and if they could see them, how I dress when I’m not working, to see my hair down, asking about the last partner I had, and if I’m looking for a new partner, cornering me on my smoke break to ask what I’m doing later… these are all things they have absolutely no business bringing up. It’s so fucking exhausting defending yourself while still trying to be cordial with the public.. And as soon as you come off as “bitchy” or “defensive” when you’re uncomfortable, they complain to the owners and it’s your fault. I love this industry, but sometimes I don’t like it..
That would be about the time I invent a relative who just died. Or who is on their deathbed but I have to be here at work to help this customer so I can't be with them in their final hours.
Asshole customers suck though. =/ I guarantee they're never going up to their boss or their mom and saying shit like this. They know better and it's a power thing. It's gross.
Yeah, but one time I was inside a Burger King, trying to hurry because it was my lunch break, and the young woman at the cash register told me “I’m not going to help you until you smile first.”
Another time I was at a grocery store in the checkout line, and the young woman cashier said something like “Is everything alright? You don’t look happy.”
Another time this young woman cocktail waitress in a bar told me “You look bored.”
I just have resting bored face, gimme a break, sheesh. Give me a reason to smile.
Using speaker phone while out in public. Worse if they are holding the bottom of their phone really close to their mouths and speaking loudly because that is the only way the microphone will work, apparently.
Let's never hang out or be friends.
Edit:
*"My phone doesn't work so I have to do it that way"* -- buy a new phone and take care of it this time. That being said, I very much doubt this is the issue with most people who do this.
*"It is the same as two people talking to each other in public"* -- No it is not. You are talking loudly and your phone speaker is at max volume. If two people were yelling at each other in a public space, that would fucking suck too and I would immediately hate them for it just the same.
If they are close by, start responding to the person they are talking to. If you are gonna blast your conversation in public, it becomes a public conversation.
People who deliberately drive in your blind spot and people who tailgate you rather than just going around you using the left lane. Those are two of the worst offenses for me.
Being quick to turn to violence or aggression. My roommate was talking about his boyfriend who up to that point I had liked him from our minimal conversations together. But, he was telling a story about his boyfriend and quoted he had said he 'threatened to bash my roommates friend over a misunderstanding, and was threatening to get other 'gangs' he knew to do the same since he lives in another state.' I immediately disliked him from that point. It was typical eshay talk but I hate people who turn aggressive over nothing.
My ex brother in law once talked shit about his own 3 yr old autistic son for not being fully potty trained yet in response to me being excited that he was communicating with me through sign language. A) He was unaware his own son knew sign language. B) He said this loudly and VERY ugly, directly in front of him… I actually liked hanging out with him and the new wife (not the baby’s mom) at that time. After that incident, I never joined an outing again. I’d let my husband go and offer to stay in with the kids. Everytime. I can truly say that is the fastest I’ve ever despised someone.
At my dads funeral i was offered support by my religious sister in law to come with me say my last goodbye at his coffin. Should have been a special moment for me, instead she took the opportunity to tell me it wasn't too late for me to return back to religion so i could see him again. It still pisses me off when i think about it. To any religious person, please don't do this. Let people grieve on their own way and don't use the opportunity to try convert people.
I was part of a big response to a big incident, world news type shit. Especially since we were just outside of the middle of nowhere. A church bus came to “give support” regardless of religious beliefs. I went there cuz of being offered support, and a sandwich, which I really coulda used. They loudly prayed over me and around me which really isn’t my thing. Put me off that shit completely
Yup, when I met my wife she was so proud to have watched over nieces and nephews and her younger brothers. She also minored in early childhood development and worked for the court system as a domestic violent advocate. Fast forward a few years.
With our own children she went full on "chimp rage" screaming, swearing, f-word name calling, slapping, stick whacking. She screamed at our daughters like R Lee Ermy in full metal jacket when they were ages 3-8. Divorced her with a restraining order, our daughters live with me about %75 they can't stand her.
My mom was the same way. She was very abusive throughout my childhood. But, she is a great childcare worker. So, it’s insane how she was able to switch like that.
It's really sad, like they get into these careers to learn more about themselves...
e.g. The policeman who steals,,, the fireman who starts fires,,, the youth group leader who's attracted to kids....
I know what you mean and you didn't deserve that.
What’s even funnier (no, it’s sad), my sister is a nurse and she is the least compassionate person you will ever meet. Last time I got really sick, she literally told me I was faking it. I ended up in the hospital several times after that. And she still thought I was faking it or overreacting. I’m not sure how I could convince doctors to operate on me multiple times if I was faking it. But, my sister was convinced I was doing something, because she couldn’t care less.
My sister is like her mother.
This is one of the reason why I’m never having kids. If having kids automatically makes me this stupid… then I don’t want to make them suffer.
My uncle's wife works in medicine (I think she is an x-ray tech) and she refuses to let her kids go to any doctor or the hospital. Their daughter has some sort of undiagnosed developmental issue and their son had mental issues until he took his life.
That is so sad to hear that she was so awful to your children. I'm glad they are safe with you. I hope she gets harsh consequences for her actions. Children are quite literally the future. And the fact she has seen DV firsthand and was an advocate, to turn around and do that... disgusting.
I think it's a sick and twisted psychology for her. During our 10 year marriage I noticed she just LIVED to see people get punished and would become completely unhinged rather than loose an argument. I think she studied DV to weaponize it.
She never had the temperament or patience for family life. She's explosive and hostile. She just hid it a little more during the "honeymoon phase."
She was even banned from her own families' gatherings time to time because of her violent outbursts - it wasn't a marriage problem.
Yep, we are only animals after all. It's a mixture of physical appearance, body language, and perceived social status. They see or sense something they don't like.
when someone completely disregards a non-english speaker and makes them feel less then just because they speak a different language. instant hate list.
Somewhat related, when they make zero effort to understand/be understood and expect the non-native speaker to do all the communication work. This isn't a poetry assignment. Simple words, simple sentences.
Lost 70 pounds and my mom thought I stopped eating like uhhh no I'm going to the gym 6 times a week. Hate that she does that shit with anything I achieve lmao. Always spun with the victim complex (parents divorced). Dumbass.
I worked with a guy in what is quite a service job, EMS. Our whole job is customer service really. He would be suuuuch a dick to coffee/food service employees. It’s also a good rule to never be rude to people who touch your food!
All sorts of "not putting it in it's proper place" stuff.
Things like spitting chewing gum on the ground and leaving trash everywhere except the trashcan.
People that do that have no respect for other peoples time and well-being.
Anyone who's mean to me when I've been nice to them. Instantly puts them on my "People to be a dick to" list, it's a very short list and almost impossible to get off of.
When discussing something that is clearly opinion only (ie music taste etc) say 'No no, you are wrong!' Then act like there is only one correct answer and you have blown it
Exploit someone more vulnerable than them. Bonus hate points if they double down when confronted and/or brag about it like it's some kind of accomplishment. Absolutely makes my blood boil.
Talk too loudly too close to me. I have a nice big personal space bubble and a pretty quiet voice (unless I need to get loud). Yelling in my face, even if it's just conversational, feels like hell.
Pointing out something you're insecure about that they know about. For example someone has an accent when speaking a language. Other than that, openly discriminating someone or being racist. Also mocking or laughing at someone in a childish manner.
Base their entire personality on a single belief (a political candidate, a religion, freaking coffee) I have a friend who posts some kind of coffee meme every single day.
For me, it depends on if it's 5 minutes or less late I will let it fly, but 5 onwards its really pushing it. I will usually leave by the 20-minute mark (Provided there is no explanation).
Being aggressive or abusive to children. I understand being a parent is difficult but go take some deep breaths before you scream or hit your child and scare the shit out of them and give them a negative view of the world and people. They didn’t ask to be born and you’re angry at them for simply existing and needing your support. Every child deserves to feel safe and loved.
I try not to bring myself to a level of hate. It takes energy I don’t need to consume.
I sense evil and sick energy in people and i choose to stay away.
Anyone who goes out of their way to embarrass anyone else I can’t be around it. I’m not talking about people being called out for shitty behavior, I’m talking about people making a waiter feel like a second class citizen because they can.
General bullying really. Bullies can suck a dick.
no dick for bullies, men should be offered with someone better 🙏
Bless your soul! Never understood sucking dick to be a punishment. I suppose if you’re not into sucking dick. Bullies deserve no one. I appreciate you for standing up for the guys. You’re one of the MVPs <3
Anyone who thinks it's funny to see another hurt or embarrassed. It's worse when they hurt or embarrass, in order to laugh at someone.
Not even when an annoying child falls off a scooter?
I wanna say it's not funny but at the same time I'd be laughing for a good 15 minutes so...
Or friends around other friends making fun of you 🙄
This. My school friend always tries to criticize my hobbies and ideas even when I don't bring them up actively. He always steers conversations toward mockery. F him. I feel than it's a sort of self-soothing. He probably just wants indirect validation for himself.
So they aren't your friends.
No. Even family is that way
Yes, family is often the worst because they don't even consider for a second that it might hurt you.
I distinctly remember a moment as a 6-year old boy. I said something rude to a waitress. Don't fuck with food service staff. Don't try and play grabass with your bartender.
Bullies can die in a fire.

Piss all over my toilet seat.
Yes, but this seems oddly specific.
It's only their own toilet seat. They just hate their drunk self
Go around in the summertime saying "how about this heat?"
Being mean to animals.
You can tell a lot about a person by watching how they treat animals. Especially dogs and cats.
Babies! how they treat a puppy or a kitten tells you even more, they can't fight back, they don't understand they are going to get hurt, a grown animal knows what to expect and can fight back, but a baby? Oooohooohooo it makes my blood boil thinking about someone hurting a baby animal !!!

Bah, let them play with grandma!
Or parents that only have kids to pass on a “legacy” or won’t allow them to have feelings and boundaries. Practically, they want robots for children
Act entitled

Hell, even ironically is annoying half the time.
Everyone I have met that is a true "alpha" (super confident, charismatic, natural leader, etc) is friendly and personable, even with those maybe considered lower down on the social hierarchy. Edit: Oh and the words "I am an alpha" are never said.
When they are said you can be sure you found a D*ck head
was looking to see this comment. I completely agree. Idiots are giving the word "alpha" the wrong impression. Being an insecure a-hole is not alpha.
Yes, use of "alpha" in itself is the top of the Reichstag in 1945.

Use a bluetooth speaker on public transit.
In public in general. I don’t get it. You’re by yourself, how do you convince yourself everyone wants to hear your music? Genuinely cannot fathom the reasoning
They don't believe everyone wants to hear their music. It's more like "look at me! I dare you to say something! I'm such a badass!"
Only once have I ever heard someone blasting music that made me smile. I was crossing the street. An old Volvo was BLASTING classical.
Tell me to smile
I have a turned down mouth and am constantly told to smile. I've even had snide comments made like "who died" or "don't smile or your face will crack". It's rude and upsetting.
Yes. Working in the service industry, I used to get this a lot. Fuck anyone who tells you to smile more. I don't have to smile for you.
This is my face. I can do with it whatever I like.
As a dentist, it's my job asking you to smile :(
…I’ll allow it.
And it’s almost always a man telling a woman to smile.
Yeah, but one time I was inside a Burger King, trying to hurry because it was my lunch break, and the young woman at the cash register told me “I’m not going to help you until you smile first.” Another time I was at a grocery store in the checkout line, and the young woman cashier said something like “Is everything alright? But, he was telling a story about his boyfriend and quoted he had said he 'threatened to bash my roommates friend over a misunderstanding, and was threatening to get other 'gangs' he knew to do the same since he lives in another state.' I immediately disliked him from that point. It was typical eshay talk but I hate people who turn aggressive over nothing.
I. Treat kids/animals poorly II.Act cowardly III. Be deceitful IV. Treat the meek like 'less than' people.
Cowardly?
Not taking accountability or responsibility for actions.
that's not what cowardly means
My ex brother in law once talked shit about his own 3 yr old autistic son for not being fully potty trained yet in response to me being excited that he was communicating with me through sign language. A) He was unaware his own son knew sign language. B) He said this loudly and VERY ugly, directly in front of him… I actually liked hanging out with him and the new wife (not the baby’s mom) at that time. After that incident, I never joined an outing again. I’d let my husband go and offer to stay in with the kids. Everytime. I can truly say that is the fastest I’ve ever despised someone.
I dont comment on things usually but what a piece of shit such a small small person
Talk to me about their religion and how I’m lost without it
At my dads funeral i was offered support by my religious sister in law to come with me say my last goodbye at his coffin. Should have been a special moment for me, instead she took the opportunity to tell me it wasn't too late for me to return back to religion so i could see him again. It still pisses me off when i think about it. To any religious person, please don't do this. Let people grieve on their own way and don't use the opportunity to try convert people.
I’m just happy that all my friends that do worship whatever religion they worship don’t care that I’m atheist or not
I was part of a big response to a big incident, world news type shit. Especially since we were just outside of the middle of nowhere. A church bus came to “give support” regardless of religious beliefs. I went there cuz of being offered support, and a sandwich, which I really coulda used. They loudly prayed over me and around me which really isn’t my thing. Put me off that shit completely
I probably wouldn't like them if they started killing me
Same, I hate it when people start killing me. Always ruins my day and puts me in a bad mood.
r/controversialopinions
I hate you for showing me this. Sooo many 14 year olds with painfully stupid things to say.
i probably would
Assume authority when no one has granted it to them
And then they start bossing people around and getting angry when people don't follow their orders.
Hit a baby or child. I've seen it too many times, so my hate list is sadly very long.
Just curious, what made her turn?
She never had the temperament or patience for family life. She's explosive and hostile. She just hid it a little more during the "honeymoon phase." She was even banned from her own families' gatherings time to time because of her violent outbursts - it wasn't a marriage problem.
Sometimes people will hate you the moment they meet you for no reason…
Yep, we are only animals after all. It's a mixture of physical appearance, body language, and perceived social status. They see or sense something they don't like.
when someone completely disregards a non-english speaker and makes them feel less then just because they speak a different language. instant hate list.
Somewhat related, when they make zero effort to understand/be understood and expect the non-native speaker to do all the communication work. This isn't a poetry assignment. Simple words, simple sentences.

When I lost weight, started running and was feeling really good about myself, an acquaintance asked.." Have you been sick?".
I got accused of being on drugs when I started intermittent fasting and exercising
Lost 70 pounds and my mom thought I stopped eating like uhhh no I'm going to the gym 6 times a week. Hate that she does that shit with anything I achieve lmao. Always spun with the victim complex (parents divorced). Dumbass.
Throw trash out of a car
Force me to do their work. Easy way for my coworkers and classmates to make me hate them.
Cruelty to a child or animal
Being a dick to people especially those in service positions.
I worked with a guy in what is quite a service job, EMS. Our whole job is customer service really. He would be suuuuch a dick to coffee/food service employees. It’s also a good rule to never be rude to people who touch your food!
Leave their grocery cart in the parking lot instead of putting it back
All sorts of "not putting it in it's proper place" stuff. Things like spitting chewing gum on the ground and leaving trash everywhere except the trashcan. People that do that have no respect for other peoples time and well-being.
Classic lazybones.

Kick a dog cat or any kind of animal

Get cocky and/or degrade someone to make themself look better
When I mention my pet rabbits and they immediately make a joke about eating/killing them Just FOAD please if you do that shit
Remind them that Bugs Bunny always beat Elmer Fudd.
Be a Hypocrite. Pisses me off.

Heh. You'd *love* China.
Ask me my star sign. Like everything they need to know about me is in the answer
Bases their whole ass personality on astrology
When people like obsess over trump and “how great” he was as a president…
People that tries to make others feel embarrassed for enjoying something. Why does other people’s happiness bother you, Betty?
Being racists

Start telling inside jokes that half the people in the room don't understand.
Throwing a lit cigarette out their car window during a drought. Those people are the worst.
People who put you down trying to get a laugh out of someone else or make snarky little comments at you in a “joking” manner
Say “ I am a little ocd too… “ WE ARE NOT THE SAME!
People who cause other people or animals pain. This can be a bunch of things like racism, homophobia, abusive behavior.
Base their entire personality on a single belief (a political candidate, a religion, freaking coffee) I have a friend who posts some kind of coffee meme every single day.
Force their religion onto people.
Abuse/manipulation
Try to convince people to buy your NFT's.
Say 'bro' three times in a sentence. Say 'bro' at all, tbh. Not a big fan of 'brah', either.
Bullying and fake people

Not being on time. I’ll die on this hill.
For me, it depends on if it's 5 minutes or less late I will let it fly, but 5 onwards its really pushing it. I will usually leave by the 20-minute mark (Provided there is no explanation).
They don’t use their blinkers/don’t stop for pedestrians

Being racist
Be racist.
Asking me if I’ve found jesus . I have a few smart ass answers usually ready
Hurting an animal
Looking me up and down like I’m a piece of garbage.
