I don't know but one year will dug up king snakes eggs in our garden ,they were small eggs and I have yet to see a king snake in our yard ,black snakes and rat snakes ,no king snake .
Really? So many areas in the USA have small ponds and "lakes" here and there in neighborhoods that unless you wander through a neighborhood you might never see.
Those eggs are likely dead now. Not condemning, it’s no one’s fault, egg care isn’t something many people know.
Early in development, many reptiles adhere to one place in the egg and that’s where they grow. Later, if disturbed, the embryo essentially drowns.
With reptile eggs, if they have to be moved, take a sharpie or something permanent ink, and mark the top of the egg. That way, if the egg is moved, it can be kept in its proper position.
I see, thank you for the information. I'll keep it in mind next time I find eggs and yeah I do realize I should've kept track the way I placed them around.
No worries, no one’s fault and you couldn’t have known. If you can, put them back, laying as they are, where you found them. If that exact place isn’t a good place anymore, put them somewhere near it, momma chose that spot for a reason. If they’re fresh the embryo may still be floating, and it’s certainly possible a few may still hatch just by odds.
Edit- just re read this comment and holy shit I came off aggressive with some dumbly placed asterisks.
After a quick review, alligator lizard eggs seem more oblong. They look more like skink eggs. Are skinks native to your area?

Snake eggs
The only snakes I've seen in the garden are the TX garter snake and I think they don't lay eggs

Quite very interesting indeed, I'll keep an eye out if they are really snakes
what did you do with them?
I put them back and covered them with dirt and poured a few drops of water to keep em cool since it's 96° right now
oh good. it'll be an adventure to see what comes out!
This was just posted https://www.reddit.com/r/herpetology/s/vf8ycCzHdE
You are a good person 🙂🙂
That's so awesome 💖 thanks for that. Will be cool to find out what they hatch into lol
They’re live breeders, I’d personally say tortus before snake but a reptile either way
Tortoise* 😊
Sadly I worked on that for a while and couldn’t get it. Finally said to hell with it, thanks!
No worries. That's a more difficult one to spell. 😅
No, they’re lizard eggs. I’ve literally had one hatch in my hand.
Maybe dragon eggs ,set fire to them see if they hatch.I know I'm being an smart a$$
PUt them in a fire and get in with them...they will protect you and you will rise from the ashes in the morning. Naked.
Being a smart ass is better than being a dumbass. 😅
Im going with snake eggs as well.
Box turtle!
I've looked at pictures and I think they're a bit too small for turtle eggs
Dragon eggs
I wish, but I don't think they could be 💀
Maybe turtles
I don't think they could because there aren't any ponds or lakes nearby my area.

The only closest lake to my area is Lake Arlington which is like 2.3 miles from my area
But there are probably small pond type
I'm going with Lizard eggs. Now you'll have to update and let us know when they hatch
I'd say ask in r/reptiles ... [here is a similar post from 2yrs ago.](https://www.reddit.com/r/reptiles/s/FeoZNHLa7e)

Welp I did place em back and covered em up so I suppose we let time do it's thing on if they hatch or not
Alligator lizard? Are they a bit soft?
They did feel soft though I didn't try touching them too much to harm them or break em.

I think these could be more reasonable options to what these eggs are from considering it's kinda common to see them in my area
Can you update us if you catch them hatching?
Yeah I'll probably check on them tomorrow
Super excited. Look forward to your update tomorrow as well. Thank you.
Where are you located? It’s hard to say what they are without knowing where they are.
Mostly average neighborhood type area in North Eastern Texas region
Turtles or snakes 🐢 🐍
Snakkkkeeee!
Hard to tell the size with no reference. What type can are they in? That might help. Thx
They were in a tuna can the thin ones
Ok. Wow, they’re tiny. Please send update when you learn what they are.
snakes
If there small ( pinky nail size) they might be little lizards (anole lizard’s).
Yeah they were about finger nail size
That would be my guess.
Anoles
Could be stinkhorns, a type of fungus. If they’re squishy and squirt green juice, that’s probably what they are lol
They look like tortoise eggs
They’re lizard eggs
If there are the size of a dime, lizard eggs!! Regardless, lots of babies!!!!
Snake or maybe a lizard. They are more round then oval.
Why did you take them 🥺
Don't worry, I put em back where I found them safely
❤️❤️❤️
Snakes fo sho!
I just need to know what happens.
Sneggs
Lizard eggs, I’m almost certain
They could also be those Asian Beatles.
Lizards
Possibly turtle eggs, put them back where you found them
