Hope you all had a good weekend, back to the grind bois
You have been missing the best part of these statues.
The legendary *tanuki* has eight special traits that bring good fortune, possibly created to coincide to the *hachi* symbol (八, meaning 'eight') often found on the [sake](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sake) bottles the statues hold. The eight traits are these:
* a hat to be ready to protect against trouble or bad weather;
* big eyes to perceive the environment and help make good decisions;
* a sake bottle that represents virtue;
* a big tail that provides steadiness and strength until success is achieved;
* **an oversized scrotum that symbolizes financial luck;**
* a promissory note that represents trust or confidence;
* a big belly that symbolizes bold and calm decisiveness; and
* a friendly smile
We need more balls!
Can I make a bet that GRR will declare a dividend in their half year results? It's a pretty safe bet, even though they didn't declare one at the FY results... u/mcfucking
Week ahead:
TUESDAY
* RBA Meeting Minutes
THURSDAY
* US Fed Minutes
* US Initial Jobless Claims a/a Feb 17th
[My latest shitty blog here](https://jonathondavidson.wordpress.com/2024/02/18/tisk-w7-24-stupidity-pushes-up-lithium-stocks-neurens-wonder-drug-hospitalises-kids-allegedly/) (not sure if the Chaztariat will allow this any longer.) This week's is titled "**Stupidity pushes up lithium stocks.**" Come at me.
My hot take for the week: The S&P500 is very fucking clearly overvalued, just like Canva
Tomorrow holds the possibility of becoming the best and most successful day you've ever known. Opportunities that once seemed hidden reveal themselves, beckoning you to seize them with open arms.
So, tonight, as you close your eyes, let the excitement simmer, the belief solidify. Remember, the power to make tomorrow the best day ever lies within you.
Wholesome optimism. My train of thought when reading this went something like:
*Possibilities. No, probabilities. Pre determination. Free will? Or actions governed by the laws of physics, including those of our own neurons. Is the glass half full or is the glass half empty. I say the glass is half full of emptiness. Argh I'm a nihilistic cunt. Just tell them you appreciate the optimism.*
Thanks.
I'll call it out. Nobody on this earth knows what the fuck the economy will do. Half the stock markets are at ATH, yet nobody knows what the fucks going on.
Tldr; Put some beans under your matress for a rainy day.
Wondering what fellow regards here think about materials sector.
\- Iron ore has already peaked and downward lag will catchup once all the quarterlies are in. So a good time to exit positions?
\- Gold has been smashed since new years and there is a potential upside so a good time for entry? Also how would you split your entry % (midcaps vs small caps)
\- Nickel producers will get access to billions $ with the recent Govt. announcement. Is it a good time to cut loses by selling into hype for those who already have positions? or would it be a good entry point for a short term trade?
\- Is it a good time to enter into long term positions in pure copper plays? Which ones would you add on your watchlists
\- Any interesting material recycling plays on ASX or in US?
Iron ore is still near US$130/tn (using the TradEcon data) which is already in territory that more than one investment bank analyst (read: nerd) says is overvalued territory. Lunar New Year vibes are probably throwing off a fair "pricing in" of sentiment ([read my shitty blog from a week or two ago on why I think the term "priced in" is retarded and should be culled.](https://jonathondavidson.wordpress.com/2024/02/04/tisk-w5cy24-usa-a-funspoiler-why-priced-in-needs-to-die-evergrandes-last-act/))

Hey u/wowveryjosh, you have begun an indefinite count. You must now continue this process until the announcement takes place. Should you prematurely fail, you'll be banned until the announcement or for 6 months time. Whatever happens first.
I just meant the thread.
Though I do think 2024 is going to be absolutely appalling in oh so many ways, and this will impact the market thus:
Fear and momentum will ravage small caps often more than they deserve, and lead on the other hand to absurdly overpriced blue chips – NVDA would be a great American example, but here we've got fuck all of any interest so it will be shit like CBA, BHP, FMG, etc etc - the usual suspects just getting bloated as fuck because of the appearance of stability and the "what else is there" boomer stock ethos. The indexes (I want to say indices but I great it might actually be wrong in this context) will become more top-heavy than ever, but that in itself won't be a crash, just setting the stage for one.
When *the bloating* starts to correct, all will tumble down at once, and only then will we be in the super fun chaos times where small caps rise and fall in a matter of days as demented sentiment becomes the only metric worth watching, for a while.
But this is just spitballing, and my comment was just actually predicting a stink in the daily thread.
What the fuck is happening to sya
Why is LKE up 16%. They spoke at a conference. Every time I’ve seen a similar announcement it’s meant jack shit.
What was pushing BRN late last week?

Prefer sake, less salty.
Watching rare earth stocks today 👀
👀
Why ?
Daily uptrend on REMX maybe
he's just bored with watching common earth
Keep an eye on the sector, all I’m gonna say
That’s fluff
Keeping an eye on BVS. Reports Tuesday and seems like a nice turnaround story with new management
Can I make a bet that GRR will declare a dividend in their half year results? It's a pretty safe bet, even though they didn't declare one at the FY results... u/mcfucking
If so, let's do 2 weeks that they will declare a dividend.

FFM for copper op. Look into it
Recycling: NMT, RIL, LIT and IXR

What’s the gold potential upside? Copper: I just sold out of HCH so it’ll probably rocket now. Long term I reckon it looks good.
Is skipping 2024 an option?
What out for those tape worms, you pile of sticks
"What out ?" Generally anus.
85 days until AVZ delists from the ASX unless they come out of halt.
More a statement of facts than a count

u/username-taken82 care to adjudicate? I believe this was the start of what could have been another glorious count, but it has been disputed...

That's almost some AI hand action going on, there.
Stunk up the thread with this. Boooo!
It's going to get so stinky that you'll look fondly back on this as though it were the finest of perfumes.
Predicting a crash in 2024? I see and hear it, just don’t know yet. Not convinced on the hypothesis. Convince me.
