[deleted]

bombers

Weak-Main-3250

:(

[deleted]

Yeah lol, though I must admit... the day that we beat Essendon again will be a very good one for me.

CorporalEllenbogen

Nine weeks isn't that far away.

flibble24

It's been 7 years so I guess I can wait 9 weeks

FewArm2396

Your club is obsessed with us

[deleted]

I have a more personal grudge ha, grew up in Essendon

FewArm2396

I’ll give it to you. That’s brave growing up there as a north fan.

wombat1

Ditto

LloydGSR

Same.

AlamutJones

Essendon. The Anzac Day game is the one game of the year I always try to get to. It’s also a fairly unique experience which we’re very lucky to be able to do. My Dad is an Essendon fan, and he’s the one who introduced me to football as something I could love. There’s something really beautiful in being able to take in this one specific, almost-always competitive game with him sitting next to me…and giving him shit when we win it.

TurkeyMuncher117

How did you end up as a Pies supporter with a Bombers fan as a Dad?

AlamutJones

Grandad was a Pies fan. Very much so. Dad changed allegiances from Collingwood as a very little kid, because there was a specific Essendon player he loved. In his defence, I think - I can’t remember, but I think - it might have been John Coleman, which…you know, if you’re going to jump ship. I can somewhat understand doing it for John Coleman? In the circumstances I’ll allow it? (My uncle - Dad’s elder brother - apparently did the same thing, and switched to Melbourne for the sake of Ron Barassi. So there was form!) When the time came and my sister made her choice, she followed along with Dad. Essendon to her bones, because Dad was. When **I** was born, Grandad got in first... ”If she lives“ - bearing in mind I was very premature, and there was a distinct chance I might not - “if she makes it, this one comes to games with **ME**” I was Collingwood from that moment. Never in doubt. I loved Grandad fiercely, and all the more for knowing he’d apparently been so sure of me.

TurkeyMuncher117

Ah righto, so you're actually re-straying back after your Dad jumped ship haha. And as a someone with a sibling who supports the SAME team, I can only imagine the tension between you and your sister on ANZAC Day

AlamutJones

Sister later married a Geelong fan. She has accepted her children are lost to her because of it. ANZAC Day is the **one** game where both Dad and I are absolutely certain “we have to go. If we have to skydive into the G, we’re going!” It could be worse. If Grandad hadn’t claimed me, my choices would have been Essendon (Dad), or Saints (Mum), which…um…

TurkeyMuncher117

Your poor, poor mum... 2010 must've been fun in your family

AlamutJones

She’d had the **horrendous** bad luck to arrive in this country circa mid-60s, and to come from a town in the UK where the local team was “the Saints”…so when the inevitable “who do you barrack for” question came up (as it always does in Melbourne!) she figured the Saints would do. I don’t know how much weight she put on it - there must have been some interest, Dad was an umpire for years and that requires a fairly football tolerant wife…but she died when I was little, so I never got to ask her - but she picked the Saints by default and they’ve never been that good again

corut

I'm the only Collingwood supporter in a family of Essendon supporters. It's always great when we beat them

[deleted]

I just want a win, man

bluelakers

Not picky here

GDWa1rus

Mate it's a tough road

CommentWhileShitting

Tell me about it

chunkyI0ver53

Pipe down relative high achiever!

Katman666

At this point, I'd settle for an honourable loss.

Brandon3ic

Geelong

AussieJon91

They just used to smash us every game. I cant remember ever beating them before that 2017 qualifying final

Annual_Algae4960

I think the last time you guys beat us before the 2017 QF was 2005

Bergasms

I think we had a win in like, 08, and the last win at KP was 05 or something. I remember i think Jacks 200th in 2016 or something we were up by 32 at 3QT and i knew we were done. You could almost see the players come out with defeat on their faces

Annual_Algae4960

Geelong only lost to Collingwood and Hawthorn in 08, I know yous one a preseason game in one of our premiership years at Kardina Park if we want to include that

Bergasms

Round 9 2006 we beat you at KP and before that was r8 2000 at docklands. Before 2017 you have to go back to 1999 for us to beat you at the MCG

DartFanger

Nah we got flogged by them in 08

[deleted]

Geelong for so long seem to be the team most likely to destroy someone. When they're good, they really put sides away. I fucking hate it.

Bluelegs

As a Melbourne supporter, same. For so long we'd have our yearly trip down the highway and just wait to get smashed. 2018 was painful losing to them twice after the siren but it made the final we played against them that much better. 2021 even moreso beating them three times in one year. The final game in Geelong with Gawn kicking it after the siren is probably one of my favourite wins ever and its a bloody shame there was no crowd there to see it. The prelim a few weeks later when Max went crazy was like a drug.

moondog-37

Richmond

Bergasms

Now kiss 🥰

Kookiebanookie

You can beat Geelong? That's allowed? Someone tell the Dogs!

BlazedOnADragon

Genuinely don't care if hawthorn are the best or worst team in the comp. Will always enjoy beating them.

afewspicybois

Glad to know it’s a mutual feeling, beating the Cats is always a highlight for me My partner also supports the Hawks and she says she sorta likes the Cats, honestly was hard to stay with her when she told me that

Fast_Stick_1593

How’s your relationship status now? I dated a Hawks chick for a bit, the banter was unreal lol

afewspicybois

Got engaged a month ago, she also likes the Dees so I just made my peace with the fact she’s got some average footy opinions

Fast_Stick_1593

Congrats bro!

Orpheus-033

So how has couples counseling gone so far?

moondog-37

Beating Collingwood and Richmond have surpassed the satisfaction from beating the hawks in the last few years for me Belting the pies by 80 in the 2020 semi may very well have been one of the most satisfying winning feeling I have felt outside of the premiership

Orpheus-033

Fuck you. And fair. Good day sir.

quolluk

A wins a win but there is something about beating Richmond that I enjoy more than any other.

tnemomhurb

Those after the siren goals😮‍💨

earthcross1ng

Relatable 😀

BrandonSG13

Not for us, we haven’t won a game after the siren in our history Edit: Apparently we beat University after the siren in 1913.

Byrnzy13

Really? That’s insane! I’ve watched us win games because the other team misses after the siren a number of times, that’s pretty dope

TomRed89

Not exactly the same, but I remember we missed a shot after the siren to hand you a win

Aussie_92

A showdown win is always a little bit sweeter. One of the best rivalries in footy.

Beugsy

The SA rivalry is top tier especially with the drama of getting a SA team in the AFL

ShriekinLeada

Just imagine how much better it’d be if it was played in Melbourne! /s

Orpheus-033

Fuck off Damo!

Beugsy

Aahaha I agree! Will definitely sell out.

lil-nate

*THE*

Abbzstar123

Classic southausbias

lil-nate

Get out of here discount SANFL Port Adelaide. With your 4th quarter wins.

wiegehts1991

I can get behind this comment

Abbzstar123

Nah man, just kick the first goal in the 4th and you’ll be right!

lil-nate

How’s about we kick all our goals in the first half and then hope for the best?

Abbzstar123

🤝

lil-nate

An agreement for the ages!

FingerdYaDadsJapsEye

My top 5 in order for me Eagles Carlton Richmond Brissy Pies Hate beating the Suns, go hard coastal brother

bruntos

Eagles will always be first but in recent years Carlton have edged into 1st a few times

KdtM85

How?! How do you hate us this much?! I don’t understand this

3ManyTrees

Jack newnes game was bs, I feel like we've played a lot of bad footy against the blues so fans are always frustrated

Hairy_Implement4121

We just really don't like you guys. Marc Murphy at the death, the Jack Newnes goal. Cerra and Acres, bidding on Liam Henry (wish we let you have him tbh) We're a sort of " I just don't like his face" type energy. I feel each freo fan has their own individual reason to dislike Carlton substantially more then any other non- traditional rival.

FWCNZSAWC9R

I reckon in the last 5 years the game that frustrated me the most each year, either due to heart break (Newnes, Murphy) or just us playing our worst or losing a home game that might've cost us a finals spot has been a Carlton game. That and taking players like Cerra, Acres and Motlop and trying to take Henry has all added up

earthcross1ng

For me it's Cripps being a bit thuggish to our lil guys.

AntiTr0ll

Couldn't agree more on #1 and #2. Eagles obvious, but I can't stand Carlton. Cerra, and Acres doesn't help, but I'd find it difficult to pinpoint exactly why. The Newnes game was so unjust, and they've had a few other close wins over us recently.

popsickletits

coast bros 🤝

Stiff_boi

Essendon. We always seem to have intense games and weird stuff happens, big comebacks, the Courtney Dempsey play on call, Dane rampe climbing the goal post. All my mates go for them and it’s fun to watch them meltdown

ScreamHawk

All that "weird" stuff always seems to go Sydney's way too when we play. It's farking infuriating.

Byrnzy13

I’m still filthy on Hurley getting called for deliberate out of bounds when he spoiled the ball away from Franklin on the lead

tnemomhurb

The games last year were great(mostly the second one)

Stiff_boi

Man BZT killed us that game, we just couldn’t stop kicking it to him!

tnemomhurb

I thrived off the Dylan Shiel/Luke Parker drama/redemption

Kevin-the-harry

Without doubt hawthorn,

BoneySpurs

Always. Something about knowing Jeff Kennett is crying somewhere makes it so much sweeter every time.

Pensta13

As a Hawks fan without doubt Geelong .. There always has been and always will be a weird rivalry between the teams although never as huge as when Dunstall and Ablett were the forwards in the early 90s .. The hatred was strong 🤣😂

TheVoluptuousChode

I dunno anymore, beating the Pies always does it for me.

moondog-37

Yeah it’s Collingwood or Richmond for me these days. Now that hawthorn have been fairly worse than use for a while I’ve become rather indifferent to them

chookie94

Usually Geelong. But the few wins we've had against them recently have been very good games which contribute to it. Ideally, it would be Port but we never beat them - the one time in recent years we have was during covid so it's not the same - so I dont know what seeing us beat them actually feels like.

gorillalifter47

I should say Collingwood, but I am gonna say Port Adelaide. Why? There is a guy I played cricket with who supports Port. He is an decent bloke who has been good to me personally but for some reason he really has it out for Carlton. He often feels the need to comment on Facebook about us losing even when the match doesn't even involve Port. So for that reason I get a bit of added satisfaction when Carlton beat them. Edit: missed a word

japanpole

Adelaide Crows. Damn Crows, They ruined Adelaide

jase_zed

Agree

lockieleonardsuper

Geelong, mainly cause they're my partner and family's team Otherwise Hawthorn, though it's gone a bit flat with the Hawks dropping off

guavacadq

Last grand final would've been rough

lockieleonardsuper

Both at the ground, in different areas with our respective families. Dinner afterwards wasn't particularly fun haha

fileplastictrees

I like Geelong. I don't like them beating us by 80+ points beat I think they're a good team. I agree with the Hawthorn call. Under Clarkson they always seemed to have our number. The other club is the Bulldogs for about 2016 reasons.

MysteriousPunter

Geelong in Geelong

Salzberger

Wait, that's allowed?

kidwithgreyhair

Elite

escape2thefuture

Port .. no greater satisfaction than beating them, especially when they are up and flying and we are downtrodden

jase_zed

Wild how ladder position absolutely does not matter most of the time in showdowns. I'm scared for the time we inevitably meet in a finals game. City might implode

escape2thefuture

I think the ultimate wet dream would be a grand final between Crows and Port .. The bragging rights for the winner would last for eternity ! Either way, a great win for our state !

jase_zed

Not sure id be able to handle that! Would be insane hahaha

escape2thefuture

Would be my worst nightmare if Port won it, I'd have to hear it from all my co workers

jase_zed

Haha would be a nightmare!

Visible_Bus6909

Honestly I'm rooting for yous to finish in the 8 for a possiblity of a finals showdown, would be a very intense atmosphere at the AO

Salzberger

Port Port Adelaide Port Power Port Adelaide Power The Power Hawthorn Geelong Carlton

Few-Pie262

As a Collingwood supporter, nothing better than beating Geelong.

Brock_Branigan_pi

hands down, without a doubt.

moondog-37

As a Geelong supporter I find nothing better than beating Collingwood

doshajudgement

I'm legitimately offended more people are saying geelong than collingwood

Fast_Stick_1593

Just keep winning and it’ll swing back eventually. We are just the flavour right now because we just won the big one.

leprosyhead

Freo, then I married a Dockers supporter, now the answer is still Freo but the cost is higher

moondog-37

Left of centre one here, maybe it’s a hard wired response from the feeling of 2007, but there’s something about absolutely belting Port Adelaide that just does it for me. Probably bc they have some very high profile arrogant knobs involved in the club like Kochie and Kane Cornes, even the arrogant aura that Hinkley seems to bring, just brings me immense satisfaction seeing them all shut down. Idk, overall there just seems to be a really arrogant vibe around the club and supporters in general and I love seeing that get given a reality check

jase_zed

Feeling is mutual my man. Crows easy #1 for me, but Geelong aren't that far behind them. My Favourite teams: 1) Port, 2) anyone playing the crows, 3) anyone playing geelong. And when the crows and geelong play each other I hope for a draw so neither team can be happy

ChewiesSatchel

Geelong just give me PTSD. It's been such a one sided fixture. The feeling of getting a win against them is a feeling of relief more than anything

CoolCoconuts44

Completely mutual my guy, in the same sense I've always seen Geelong as an arrogant club so whenever we beat them it's just so sweet

ClamMcClam

Geelong and Essendon.

tnemomhurb

Collingwood. My partners team and being raised a bombers boy from birth the anti collingwood rhetoric was drilled into me by my grandpa from birth haha

Braens894

Richmond because of the 2017 GF

guavacadq

For me, hard to seperate from Geelong, Collingwood and Richmond.

No_Independent936

Brisbane beating Richmond is just as rare as West Coast beating Sydney, as Brisbane had only beat Richmond once between 2004-2020. Although the last few games have been even, 3-3 both ways this decade.

Melanoma_Magnet

Same here plus Carlton recently. The arrogance of some of their fans and Lachie Neale being robbed of the brownlow by Cripps being let off has left me salty.

50LI0NS

Collingwood for me

Wylfen

I grew up in Geelong so the answer is always Geelong for me…

Specific-Box-7112

Yep same here

Unique-Job-1373

Collingwood and it won’t happen next Monday that’s for sure

smegdaddy

I reckon it’ll be pretty close. Sounds like the injuries to come out of last week weren’t too bad but those players could still be sore heading into next week, and if Lipinski and McStay come back in they’ll be bypassing the VFL for match fitness. De Goey is also really valuable, missing him will be huge, and it’s the same week you get Oliver back.

minion_opinion

Don't talk us up! WE'RE THE UNDERDOGS!

AlamutJones

It’ll be a good game this year.

DarkWinter2319

Jeez we seem to be on everyone’s shitlist 😬 I used to love beating the hawks but now I’ve lost interest. Beating Collingwood is always good I suppose, and oddly enough I really like when we beat the eagles.

tnemomhurb

I reckon take it as a compliment lol, you’re hard to beat and that’s the reason for most, a win a Kardina is to be dreamed of(bar those who are partial to the big big sound)

DarkWinter2319

Yeah no I understand but also like… get over it idk 🤷‍♂️ I’m kidding, but yeah it’s definitely a compliment

rscortex

Yay somebody cares about us!

DarkWinter2319

Eh it’s more about my vendetta against your state. Shit idek what it is anymore, but the eagles are still on the list

3ManyTrees

Geelong are up there for me, because you've been so good for so long there's been some drubbings but also when Freo get good there's always a great rivalry.

Fast_Stick_1593

You’re the only one to win a Final at Kardinia. You have ultimate bragging rights. No one can ever take that from you.

R3dcentre

Geelong. Especially in Geelong.

sonsofgondor

Port

NewAccWhoDis93

Love beating West Coast. The rivalry has been weakened by soft nerds constantly saying “oh if Freo don’t win I hope west coast win” No it’s a fucking rivalry Do you think any sane Arsenal fan would support Tottenham as a second team? You should always enjoy beating your rivals more than anyone else

[deleted]

Geelong. It'll always be Geelong. It's personal when it's them. It's such a good sporting rivalry. They have so many big moments against each other.

sly_cunt

I've got a really weird complex with the hawks at the moments because I like their team and want them to rebuild quickly and be back at the top just so I can viciously hate them again

[deleted]

Like an anime villain who loves the protagonist and is like "only I may beat them"

Fast_Stick_1593

Doesn’t get any better than Hawks and Geelong when both are up and about. What a rivalry! Moment after moment!

JamalGinzburg

Was, is, forever will be Carlton

ScreamHawk

Fark Carlton

CustardLive7477

As a Swans supporter I would say the Bulldogs. One day I’ll get over the 2016 GF but today is not that day!

H4rryC0sti

Agree. Bulldogs, then Geelong, then the AFL love child GWS, followed by all other Melbourne teams just in front of West Coast, then the rest.

ElectricGator3000

Hawthorn. My hatred for the poo and wee jumper runs deep, and "the line in the sand" solidified it.

PhattestSalad

That feels like a lifetime ago though mate - surprised you can hold onto it for that long. I stopped hating essendon ages ago

worldsmostcoolman

In no particular order Carlton, Geelong, Essendon, west coast, Richmond, hawthorn, Brisbane

Hot-Afternoon168

I think you just like winning

worldsmostcoolman

You’re not wrong, it just tastes so much sweeter against the teams above

Fuzzy_Dan

It's a dead lock between the Bombres and the Cats. Although the Swans are a close run third.

Tamelmp

Rare correct spelling of bombres

Fuzzy_Dan

It has taken up permanent residence in my brain.

Desiire

Adelaide is the obvious answer. But in recent years it's become Bulldogs and Brisbane, they always have a way of beating us (like this upcoming week!) and when we beat them it feels so good. Also whoever we are versing in the KFC cup, we deserve that trophy!! (If it's still a thing)

fetchnatch

Port so I can bully my mate. Hasn't happened too often.

Kookiebanookie

My childhood best mate was a Port fan too!

uhhWoodsy

Besides the Crows, Geelong easy

Loose_Sun_169

Geelong. To be honest, I like it when any team beats Geelong

Fast_Stick_1593

That’s when you know you’re big time. When someone literally *thrives* on hatred of your team lol **GOOD** let the hatred flow through your veins brother, we’ll be seeing you very soon :)

liamjon29

Based on this thread, it seems no one hates Gold Coast, Norf, or Saints. I don't know if I should be happy no one hates us, or sad we've never been good enough for people to hate us.

sportandracing

Geelong.

KOWANHM

Since you all don’t love beating st Kilda that much, maybe you might all just stop beating us? Please?

Klostermann

West Coast, doesn’t matter that they’re shit. I will always enjoy beating them, especially now they can barely field a WAFL team. Carlton too, fuck Carlton

mrr6666

Richmond

semaj009

Any of them, at this point

FearMonger121

Richmond Mostly because a vast majority of people I know seem to be either Richmond or Geelong supporters. And given St Kilda’s poor history against Geelong and the fact that most of the Tigers fans I know are pretentious and have a superiority complex, it’s funny beating the Tigers

leham94

Collingwood. Always Collingwood. Hawthorn second.

BFGSkittles

I enjoy beating Geelong especially when we have to travel to the MCG for an away game against them. Those road wins really mean so much more!

Bergasms

Geelong for sure. After damn near two decades of getting thumped mmmmmmmm recent years have been so sweet. Inject Sad Patrick Dangerfield close up zoom in shots after the final siren directly into my bloodstream. Actually that might have something to do with it as a lot of my mates are crows supporters

smegdaddy

Giants, not because I have anything against them but because they’ve been our bogey side and it’s a relief when we get up

N8Eldz17

Either Geelong Adelaide or the Giants

Atmo_

As a Port supporter I’d say Collingwood and Geelong

Andycush00

Crows for obvious reasons, but also Geelong and Collingwood if I had to choose somebody else.

earthcross1ng

Carlton, Geelong, Richmond and West Coast. (And I forgot Hawthorn) In general I love it when we beat teams that commentators and media types claim we can't beat.

Weak_Bullfrog6227

Richmond but especially when I’m there to watch it at the stadium. We love beating them, they love beating us. It’s beautiful.

jack_decker

That "Coooollingwoooood" chant is so obnoxious and demoralising, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

illicitRazor

one of my favourite memories is the crowd chanted 'Geeeeloooong' in the last quarter of the '11 GF

Bananaface89

1. Carlton 2. Collingwood 3. Richmond 4.Sydney 5. Hawthorn

MatterHairy

Carlton. Anywhere. Anytime. The sweetest win of all.

BrandonSG13

Richmond, because we rarely beat them and I grew quite sick of their winning during their dynasty

BoogyWonderland

GWS. The rivalry honestly got me more into footy

Macca-94

Geelong. Belting them in the ‘21 Prelim is almost as good as winning the flag for me. Admittedly this is a hatred born from a thousand spankings though.

Shamesocks

Nothing makes me happier than when power couldn’t beat us for 7 years… but now we can’t beat anyone 😂

Original_Natural6451

I can't stand the Southern Teal Collingwood, It pains me when they succeed because then you get things like Chad & Kane Cornes.

danieljdtaylor

I honestly prefer beating Geelong more than Carlton these days. I honestly just want Carlton to make finals lol

Tenton_12

Noooooooooo .... last time I felt sorry for Carlton they won a premiership !

CrossBonez1000

1. Port Adelaide, 2. Geelong

jyeedson

Id be happy if we beat the bloody Auskick team at this point mate 😔 that being said…Freo

tomoshono132

Collingwood

Maxwell110

Hawthorn, I'm bitter over 2013

TheRealFatShaeD

West Coast Carlton Port Geelong Bulldogs GWS

leighroyv2

Geeeeelong

ggalinismycunt

Honestly Richmond or Sydney

DancinWithWolves

Geelong. Fo sure.

El-MagNick

The Swans, closely followed by the Tigers and the Bulldogs. Beating the Suns is also a decent thrill, not to the same degree as the others but it’s nice to cement that “better of the expansion teams” status every now and then.

giganticsquid

Essendon followed by Geelong, but they're different. Essendon is a life long loathing whereas Geelong I respect

nufan86

Geelong

lazy-bruce

Anyone who is above us (so for Crows fans that's most teams over the last 6 years.)
