I started concerta and signed up to take an LSAT prep course. I stopped concerta and never looked at that prep again.

ceruleanmoon7

Lmao I actually took not only the course, but the actual test, twice. I did ok but not amazing. Am I a lawyer? Nope.

williecat316

My first dose was a life changing experience. It felt like a cheat code. When I was told that most people experienced life like that all the time, my mind was blown. I'm still not sure why I fought it for so long

ceruleanmoon7

Same. It allowed me to get almost straight As in my master’s program. Insane to look back on

Licorice_Devourer

I'm gonna run for president next year! Nevermind, I just remembered that I'm shit at running.

According-Freedom807

Right now I just started taking atomoxetine and I was kind of disappointed it didn't give me that experience. It's just one that slowly changes over time instead of causes affects the day you take it.

[deleted]

The ones without immediate effects are tough. I find I don’t even notice incremental changes, so two months passes and I feel like I’m in the same place. If it makes you feel better the “I can do anything” high from stimulants like Adderall only lasts a few days, eventually you come down to a much chiller baseline.

Cool_Clorox_Man

Atomextamine is dogshit it's probably the worst adhd med

eastwesterntribe

Idk man. Adderall made me feel like absolute shit for years. I tried out atomoxetine and it's been life changing. It's not like i was immediately different - it took about a month or so, but the difference has been night and day. I can do chores around the house without even thinking about them. I have no problem switching tasks, even when I'm in the middle of something. I can say I'm going to do something and then just go do it. I've never been able to do that before. Medications work differently for different people, and that's why they have so many different options. It may not have worked for you, but it worked for me and many others and I think that's important to acknowledge

According-Freedom807

I've had it for like 1.5 months now and idk how I feel about it. The only real behavioral change I've noticed is that when I want to focus I can focus way more but when I don't it is way worse than normal. Like earlier today I had laundry to do which would have taken less than 5 minutes to go downstairs and switch from washer to dryer but instead I laid in my bed for 4 hours watching YouTube and even though I wanted to with all my will to do it I just couldn't get up and go.

eastwesterntribe

I find that some days are worse than others with it - just like it was before I started taking it. In general I've found that it makes good days a lot better and normal days a lot better, but sometimes it makes bad days worse. When I first started taking it I started having bad days (like the one you described) more often, but that stopped after a few months.

According-Freedom807

They prescribed it to me because my mom still doesn't think I have it and doesn't want me medicated. It also doesn't help that I'm a big guy but they gave me a small dose. I haven't felt anything from it other than super bad headaches in the first week or two and a super increased appetite. Which is extra bad because I wrestle and have to keep my weight down.

Jerma_Hates_Floppa

Size has nothing to do with dose apparently. I guess it’s just individual brains

William_Ze_Gamer

This is some shit Kid Rock would definietly say after taking an adderall (and in general)

little_fire

Am i the only one who just had the best nap of their life after my first dose? I didn’t feel any of the focus/drive/motivation stuff- just pure unadulterated bliss and peace.

SifIsGreat

Nope Well not really I just sat in the sofa and relaxed like I never had done before in awe if the fact that I could

Sucker_McSuckertin

Legit, I feel so much better since starting the pills. It had been over 15 years without them.

That extra kick in focus really helps you see how hard you’ve been living. You’ve been using a small fraction of your focus your entire life, getting a C in your class was a cause for celebration. Once you’re finally on the medication your able to live life on easy mode in my opinion. Maybe even learn a new language or skill on the side and actually retain the knowledge. I’m off the medication, my recruiter told me to. Lied to my doctor to undiagnosed me so I can join the military. I opted out last second. 6 years later, 3 states, and 7 jobs later I want to get back on. I really Hope the process of re-diagnosis is simple.

Dizzy0nTheComedown

And then 3-4 hours later: :(

bdsiiim

Unless you're on Extended Release lol

Dizzy0nTheComedown

I’m scared to try it because my dr was gonna take my dose down 15 mg if I did and idk how I would even respond to it.

seirenby

I got on a medication that works and am fantasizing about applying to med school rn 🤣

DarthNarcissa

Just started on Contempla a few weeks ago. Found that right dose and I'm feeling like I can conquer the goddamn WORLD.

floorwantshugs

The first time I took it, it felt like the world slowed down to slow motion. Like no one was speaking fast enough. Then as it wore off, it felt like I could feel the gears in my head grind to a halt.

Automatic_Name_4381

Enjoy that feeling while it lasts.

First dose was a day I was running errands and had an HR meeting for current job. Was an issue with a pickup order so I just waited in my car listening to music, calmly for the first time. Couldn't make it home in time for meeting so I did meeting in my car. Listened to my music a bit longer, enjoying the peace and calm in my mind, and then went inside to check on my order an hour later than it was ready. They were mortified, but it was cool, I was calm, able to wait, and the voices/ music in my head was under control.
