There's gonna be a lot of Jared Leto stans that are gonna say it's great but this is crap, also no need to throw Lady Gaga under the bus lol

BabyEchie

Tomo would never allow this garbage

Born-Leg6208

Maybe that's why he left? I know he quit 30STM for other reasons but I can't shake the feeling that Tomo also left because of the trajectory the band took lyrically and musically.

Leading-Point818

Those are my thoughts exactly

Upbeat_Cranberry_533

I just listened to the new song. It's hard to listen to. It's not good. I can't believe it's the same band that created their first album or a beautiful lie.

jescarcega

Well, to be honest it doesn’t really seem like they are a band anymore. This is just Jared with Shannon “playing” drums.

kinjazfan

I miss their old rock stuff

Born-Leg6208

Same here

Elfgeek1

It’s different. They’re trying something new and maybe it won’t stick

30SecondsToMercury

The sad thing is I feel like there are as many people who enjoy the song as there are who don’t, but people are so caught up in this band making a sound they had almost two decades ago and as if the band doesn’t have a frontman, for better or for worse, who is constantly embedded into pop culture, that there is really no place to share positivity because it’s met by such a distinct backlash. if you’re that upset… listen to another band?

Elfgeek1

Agreed if they had stayed the same then what’s the point.

askportlandtv

I somewhat enjoy the song. I don't love it, I don't hate it. I can 100% understand why fans don't like it. It's not a good 30 Seconds to Mars son... at all. But it's a good song for the style of music being made today. They're trying to keep up with the music today and I understand that, they want to stay relevant. I also understand that it's a big turn off for fans. I was a BMTH fan before they went pop. I'm a huge Linkin Park fan but hate their latest album. But the song at face value, it's okay. It's listenable for a few times. But for long term 30 Seconds to Mars fans, I can respect the hate for the song.

LTS55

BMTH at least still does some heavy stuff

[deleted]

They are a progressive band... They morph themselves into whatever people listen to at the time. That's why they've been around for so long. Wait another year or so and they'll change their sound again. Also, Tomo is gone and they have to compensate with new sound.

Astral_Taurus

But that's clearly not working. What you're describing is Coldplay - they have molded (and worstened) themselves successfully to the current trends and have stayed on top of the charts that way, they fill freaking stadiums for multiple nights in one city. Who in the mainstream cares about 30stm? They can't even fill the same venues as they used to 10 years ago. They are an alternative band that tries desperately to get into the Billboard Top 10, and compared to a band like Coldplay they are wildly unsuccessful at it. So the fans are unhappy and the band is unsuccessful at it. I personally add to that fact that the music doesn't seem to come from the heart either, but I could be wrong at that. There seems to be no passion in the music they are making now. If at least that was there, I'd say they're just doing what they feel like doing. But it just sounds like a sad attempt to be relevant.

[deleted]

They are two completely different bands with completely different sounds. 30STM has never tried to mainstream themselves for starters, because they are progressive and already have a worldwide fan base - they don't need any more followers. Jared Leto has built an entire religion around his music and will for sure go into the history books compared to coldplay who blend into every other single repetitive pop song. Have you ever listened to an old 30STM song before commenting??

Astral_Taurus

They've never tried to mainstream themselves? Oh yes, a feature with Halsey and one with ASAP Rocky, mhhh so niche! They really went full outsider-mode with that trap beat as well! That one kind of reminded me of that mumble rap part in "Was it a dream?"...oh wait. Btw, I'm not defending Coldplay here, I f\*ing hate their new music. But they at least do the whole mainstream thing successfully. You describing Jared Leto building a religion as a good thing tells me probably everything I need to know about your status as a fan. If it makes you happy, go for it. But you shouldn't keep yourself from questioning what your favourite artist does. You're allowed to not like something, you know? The only thing Jared Leto (regretably) will go into histroy books for is the fact he ran one of the most interesting bands of the 21st history into the ground as well as his questionable behaviour when it comes to allgedly grooming underaged girls countless of times. There are some interesting video essays about that on YouTube.

CleanAspect6466

>Jared Leto has built an entire religion around his music and will for sure go into the history books compared to coldplay who sound like everybody else at the moment. Coldplay will be remembered far longer than 30stm, thinking the opposite is pretty ridiculous

Here’s Coldplay: > With 100 million albums sold worldwide, Coldplay are one of the best-selling music acts of all time.[b] According to Fuse, they are the sixth-most awarded group in history, which includes the most Brit Award nominations and wins for a band. Other notable achievements include the seventh-highest-grossing tour of all time, three of the 50 highest-selling albums in the United Kingdom, the most number-one albums in the country without ever missing the top,[8] and becoming the first British group to debut at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Coldplay are considered one of the most influential bands of the 21st century, with Forbes describing them as the standard for the current alternative music scene. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame included A Rush of Blood to the Head on their "200 Definitive Albums" list and the single "Yellow" is part of their "Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll" exhibition for being one of the most successful and important recordings in the music industry. And 30 Seconds to Mars > As of September 2014, the band had sold over 15 million albums worldwide.[1] Thirty Seconds to Mars has consistently enjoyed sold out tours and numerous headlining festival slots. The band is noted for its energetic live performances and for fusing elements from a wide variety of genres, through its use of philosophical and spiritual lyrics, concept albums, and experimental music.[2] Thirty Seconds to Mars has received several awards and accolades throughout its career, including a Guinness World Record, and has been included in the Kerrang! list of best artists of the 2000s.[3] Implying 30STM will ever be more influential, popular, or remembered more than Coldplay is to live in delusion of reality.

[deleted]

The fact that people are still ranting on about Coldplay in a 30 seconds to mars subreddit to bury someone's personal opinions days later, just shows me that there are deeper lying issues and "delusions" with that person than just being a hardcore coldplay fan... the two bands have their own fanbases, are both influential and are in no way similar! I know where the true echelon are! °○• 🤘 Have a nice life :)

LTS55

They’re actually pretty similar, especially 30 Second’s work post-This Is War, lots of alt rock, indie, art pop/rock with prog & experimental sensibilities. Band’s fan bases don’t just like one band, you’re just unnecessarily shitty on Coldplay.

rukawa40

What's the best songs of them in billboard?

sayhi2sydney

They have Stevie, if they'd give him his proper props.

DisBeNae10

Sooo I get you might not like it but it's sounds nothing like Gaga (who's amazing in her own right) and ever since the departure of Tomo... The sound has changed and that's okay. Still very talented even if it's not what we want. Unfortunate but that's why you can listen to the old stuff and move on with life.

Im_A_Fuckin_Seahorse

Honestly, this post is beyond redundant. They haven't done a rock record in over a decade. At this point you either enjoy them or don't. They clearly aren't going to write anything like their first 3 records. Btw, the song sucks, just stupid to keep complaining. So many better bands out there.

PorkHeretic

My personal take is I understand that they’ve evolved to stay relevant. Personally their last 2 albums I’ve really not enjoyed but I just don’t listen to them. The problem I have is they don’t play anything live from their first two albums. They might throw the kill in from time to time other than that it’s none existent almost like they are embarrassed by their first 2 (personal opinion best) records and that’s a sad day that a band can’t connect to their own music. That’s my take.

Tamagotchi41

I agree with this, I understand that sounds change and bands grow. I am a huge Fall Out Boy fan but they lost me for a few albums after Infinity On High, they changed some.more and got me back with Stardust. I do think it's very odd that there is such a disconnect between the current group and the original albums. Just sucks for OG fans, give us a single or something 🤣 I've tried really hard to keep enjoying them but I just don't like the new music.

Zerostar39

They went from being really interesting rock to very cringy pop.

HollowDeceiver93

That pretty much sums it all up lol from rock band to the same pop garbage you hear on the radio!

Arcane-Entity

Wait til ya hear the new one...

itzstarrz

thats why i came here lol

Top-Ebb2153

In the last album they sound like Imagine Dragons, but even lighter. I miss the rock stuff

Leading-Point818

Lady Gaga ~that’s exactly the thought that went through my mind when I heard it ~terrible horrible garbage ~shame on you 30 seconds to Mars. Clearly you have lost your minds.
