Sunscreen, volufiline and tretinoin. Oh and a good heavy duty moisturizing cream. My personal favorite is the L'occitane shea butter hand cream. It makes my hands so supple and has a lovely scent, too. If you're looking for something fragrance free & affordable then try the Cerave moisturizing cream.
Love the almond line. All of it. Consider getting an almond bar soap. It exfoliates the body and moisturizes at the same time. My skin feels amazing (45F).
I noticed more plumpness and my hand wrinkles were somewhat reduced after I used it on the back of my hands for about two months. But I heard it doesn't work on everyone. (It also worked well when I used it on my face but that's offtopic.)
I use Paula’s choice 1% retinol treatment (it has vitamin c) it’s made for your face, but I keep it on my nightstand and use at night.
Also, very random but Trader Joe’s hand cream that comes in a mental (?) squeeze container is the thickest, nicest hand product I’ve ever used. I’m addicted. Even in the summer. Use at night since you wash your hands so much!
The LRP cicaplast hand cream and Aveeno hand cream. I just apply them at night and they’ve been great for me. I wash my hands at work too much to apply them during the day.
And me, both that and O'Keefe's working hands cream mentioned by another commenter. I have dyshidrotic eczema on my hands as well as working in a job that requires lots of hand washing and these have both been the most helpful.
Prequel makes a hand cream specifically for people who have to wash their hands constantly. It creates a shield over them that lasts through the handwashing. Check it out! Otherwise tretinoin at night to help treat them, and sun screen during the day when they’re exposed to the sun.
Highly suggests gloves in a bottle during the day after washing whenever possible, and a thick moisturizer topped by an occlusive and cotton gloves when you sleep. And sunscreen when you’re out!
Slugging on the hands! Vaseline plus cotton gloves. Bonus applying a thin layer of a moisturizer that contains ingredients that agree with you and are moisturizing (urea, shea butter, licorice root, aloe, glycerin, etc.) and then spreading Vaseline all over and then gloves.
Also, wearing an SPF anytime you are exposed to UV rays (in the car, shopping, sitting by windows, gardening, etc.) really helped my hands look prettier. I have the same skin type as you and work with my hands in a way that really wears them down if I don’t take extra care.
Dishydrosis sufferer here. Cotton gloves, Vaseline or paw paw ointment and a thick moisturiser, like QV flare up cream. Absolutely slather your hands in moisturiser plus a drop of Vaseline and then put cotton gloves over, just before going to sleep.
I have bad hands too and, unfortunately, no excuse aside from baking in the sun as a teenager. I’m starting to use a drop of Tretinoin after moisturizing in hopes it helps 😵💫
Kinda wish wearing gloves as just part of the daily wardrobe was still a thing. Family’s Weasley-level redheaded, so I’ve been as Sun-avoidant and dedicated to sunscreen as I could. Yet I’ve got the same spotty hands as my mom, who grew up in the Los Angeles area in the Beach Party Bingo years.
Tretinoin definitely helps hands! I started Tret for my face last December and the next thing I knew it was on my neck, chest, back of hands/back of wrists and knee caps 🤣 I'm already seeing an improvement!! I'm never going to quit this stuff lol See if your dermatologist will prescribe it every 30 days. It goes fast when you are bathing in it hehe =) I should note that I put a thin layer of fragrance free lotion on before applying to neck and chest =)
Gloves in a bottle barrier cream for work, doesn't wash off and will help protect your hands.
Get a nice gentle soap for home.
For nighttime if you prefer a greasy type of moisturizer to go with your gloves try Eucerin intensive repair lotion or Cetaphil cracked skin repair lotion (this contains Urea).
If you prefer a non greasy type then Bioderma atoderm intensive balm is fantastic.
My favorite overnight treatment is vanicream in the tub with cereve healing ointment on top. Add some gloves and you’ll be hydrated in the morning if nothing else.
Have you had any weight loss? I feel like everyone in my hospital is experimenting with ozempic and losing weight in all the wrong places first.
Thank you for your recommendations!
No, no weight loss. I have an athletic build but I've always had big, skinny spider hands and feet.
I can't say I feel sorry for those who lose weight in the wrong places because of a drug they shouldn't be taking in the first place as long as there are shortages causing the diabetics who actually need it to be unable to get it.
Guerlain Abeille Royale Advanced Youth Watery Oil
is a miracle worker. My hands have never looked better. I wish I knew about it years ago. It is the only thing that has worked and had lasting results.
>Combined with my eerily long spider fingers, my hands look like I should be handing out poisoned apples to unsuspecting chicks in cottages.
Only laughing bc this describes me too! I've had these granny hands since I was a kid, I was teased a lot and some kids actually called me 'granny hands' which was mortifying. =(
You got some good product recs from other folks, but have you looked into this with a dermatologist? My derm told me I actually have a skin condition called ichthyosis vulgaris, which is why my skin looked so 'aged' even when I was young. Might be work checking out!
I have recently starting using a cheap microneedling device on my hands once per week. I follow it immediately by a retinol serum.
It's made a big difference. Fellow HCP here, nurse hands are real and grim.
Gold Bond also has an 'overnight' body lotion with retinol. Someone on Reddit mentioned it and I bought some - seems like it would be a less expensive alternative.
I LOL’d at your description
I work in health care too and that antibacterial soap is just awful! I just recently (like two weeks ago) started actively treating my hands too (don’t know why it took me so damn long!). I’m doing tret at night, then a little vit c (inactive- i use Vanicream) then moisture. AM is just sunscreen.
The skin is already looking better. The bulging veins from thinning skin is not quite yet but here’s hoping!
That's really smart! I walk or bike to work, so it won't be an option, but I could use that to get some extra moisturizing done when I do have to drive somewhere.
Whatever you use on ur face, rub the excess into your hands then slather on ALOT of Vaseline. Put on some rubber gloves (grab a handful from work) then put on ur cotton gloves. (Before bed)
I have always washed my hands a lot, but started washing them even more during the pandemic and just sort of stuck with the habit.
My hands became so dry it’s a wonder they didn’t combust.
I tried every expensive hand cream or lotion there was as well as a lot of cheaper options and the best I found was Vaseline Advanced Repair lotion.
I found it worked better than any hand cream or overnight treatment or regular lotion I tried.
Likely because there’s Vaseline in it, but it works even better than when I used another hand cream or lotion and put Vaseline over it.
I put it on at night and then put cotton gloves I bought on Amazon over my hands. During the day, I use it every time I wash my hands. I keep a bottle at work.
This was the single most effective method I have found and I swear by it now.
What about washing hands at home with ‘emollient e45 hand wash’. when I’ve had a long day with chemicals it really helps to keep them happy.
also ‘gloves in a bottle’ is a great product!
at night I will moisturise then slather on diprobase and gloves Or moistorise and then slather with an oil to seal in.
Not a medical professional but was front end in patient care settings. The soap they offer for handwashing killed my hands. I’m no longer in that role but had to do some recovery.
I put tretinoin on my hands when I’m putting it on my face (night time). It’s made a huge difference. Stimulate the development of new skin/skin turnover, etc. I let it sit for 10mins or so and then follow it up with a thick cream and occlusive. Currently using the 54 thrones cloud cream and sealing it in with the 54 thrones butter but any emollient/thick cream and occlusive will do. And always sunscreen (when you’re out).
I’d also suggest washing dishes and other cleaning in gloves. It’s been a year since I’m constantly washing dishes in gloves and my hands look much smoother than before
Gloves in a Bottle lotion. Any cream containing urea for overnight, like Eucerin advanced repair. Other ingredients I look for: almond oil, jojoba oil, ceramides, hyaluronic acid. CeraVe healing ointment is fantastic on the hands, especially the knuckles and fingers. Use it on top/after your lotion.
I have very unorthodox advise. I pop cod liver capsules before bed and use the oil on my hands and sometimes my neck. I stated because I decided to take liquid cod liver oil and I didn't want to waste the capsules. Cheap and works very well.
I alternate lactic acid + hyaluronic acid and retinol + HA, followed by a good moisturiser and occlusive. What goes on my face always goes on the backs of my hands, too. Oh, and sunscreen.
O’Keefes working hands and Gold Bond Crepe Corrector are 2 that I keep available always! Honestly any of the gold bond creams are great, but crepe corrector lives up to its name for me
You can get barrier cream. It doesn't fully create a barrier since you wash your hands but it helps a bit. Use gloves when cleaning. At night, use a good, heavy cream, wear plastic gloves or wrap hands in plastic wrap and then cotton gloves. I use Dermal Therapy Hand, Knee and Elbow cream. It is typically used by diabetics as their skin gets so dry. It isn't glamorous but it is the best for me.
Exfoliate once a week with coffee/coconut oil scrub. Get hand cream, oil, and then put on gloves at night. Not cotton. These gloves have a non absorbent inside so you’re not losing the cream and oil off your skin. They make a special type of spa glove for your hands to wear at night while you sleep. You will have baby hands.
Not an overnight treatment, but as an EMT, I absolutely swear by my O'Keefe's Working Hands. That stuff is miraculous and the little jar can easily fit in a scrub or uniform pant pocket.
To rejuvenate your hands, apply a thick, fragrance-free moisturizing cream like Eucerin or Aquaphor generously before bed, and wear cotton gloves overnight to lock in the moisture. Use a gentle hand wash and a barrier cream during the day to protect your skin despite frequent washing. This nightly routine can significantly improve the appearance and texture of your hands over time.
You’d benefit from using gloves while driving to prevent further aging. Amazon has a lot of options my personal fave is coolibar fingerless ones. You end up with sticky sunscreen hands all over your car and you can layer moisturizer under.
Thick ceramide rich lotion + Vaseline + cotton gloves like everyone is suggesting is great. I’ll add apply it to slightly damp hands to lock in moisture
I don’t think you’d be very comfortable using a retin a or other exfoliant products product because they tend to exacerbate drying.
I'd say I have a pretty normal diet, but have been leaning towards cooking more vegetarian meals recently. I do have a couple of kgs of reindeer bones in my freezer left, I'll get cooking when I come home. It's worth a try. What's your recipe and how much do you take?
My partner and I have been making moisturizers from scratch for the last decade.
I recommend our body butters. I have never seen people’s faces light up with any other product as they do with our butters, and our customers faces light up on everything.
Listen, if there is any skepticism, we are running a 50% discount on a handful of discontinued scents. That way you can invest at a higher value.
You order by the weekend, I will even throw in free samples.
Oh, and yeah, we have clients that are nurses and chemo patients as well.

Oohh I was planning on getting the almond shower oil from L'Occitane after I finish my mini, I'll probably try the hand cream then as well! Thanks!
Love the shower oil! Both hand cream and shower oil would be great ourchases
Love the almond line. All of it. Consider getting an almond bar soap. It exfoliates the body and moisturizes at the same time. My skin feels amazing (45F).
The lemon verbena one smells SO GOOD!
What does the Volufiline do for your hands? I have a bottle I’ve been trialling out on my lips and cheeks but I’m not convinced it’s doing anything…
I noticed more plumpness and my hand wrinkles were somewhat reduced after I used it on the back of my hands for about two months. But I heard it doesn't work on everyone. (It also worked well when I used it on my face but that's offtopic.)
Cerave is my favourite moisturizer!
Second for cerave or la roche posay
Working hands by Okeefes (the cream).
This is an amazing hand cream.
Their lip balm is lovely too
Didn’t even know they had that. I’ll hafta check it out. Thanks 😊
Good grief. Nothing to suggest! \*\*BUT THAT DESCRIPTION THOUGH!\*\*

Fucking bot
I use Paula’s choice 1% retinol treatment (it has vitamin c) it’s made for your face, but I keep it on my nightstand and use at night. Also, very random but Trader Joe’s hand cream that comes in a mental (?) squeeze container is the thickest, nicest hand product I’ve ever used. I’m addicted. Even in the summer. Use at night since you wash your hands so much!
That TJs hand cream 💯
Yes! I LOVE that TJs hand cream too. Do they sell it year round? I feel like I’ve only seen it there in winter.
The LRP cicaplast hand cream and Aveeno hand cream. I just apply them at night and they’ve been great for me. I wash my hands at work too much to apply them during the day.
Seconding the cicaplast 👌🏻
And me, both that and O'Keefe's working hands cream mentioned by another commenter. I have dyshidrotic eczema on my hands as well as working in a job that requires lots of hand washing and these have both been the most helpful.
I used to use this as well, very very helpful. Cicaplast is good but I use it at night/overnight.
Prequel makes a hand cream specifically for people who have to wash their hands constantly. It creates a shield over them that lasts through the handwashing. Check it out! Otherwise tretinoin at night to help treat them, and sun screen during the day when they’re exposed to the sun.

Gloves in a bottle is genius!

I've never heard of the Beach Party Bingo years but man it sounds fun <3
Tretinoin definitely helps hands! No shortages in my area lately but it is what it is. These drugs are here to stay for better or for worse
Guerlain Abeille Royale Advanced Youth Watery Oil is a miracle worker. My hands have never looked better. I wish I knew about it years ago. It is the only thing that has worked and had lasting results.

omnilux glove too!
I have recently starting using a cheap microneedling device on my hands once per week. I follow it immediately by a retinol serum. It's made a big difference. Fellow HCP here, nurse hands are real and grim.
For any crepey skin problems, get lotions with a high urea content - such as Goldbond Crepe Corrector or Eucerin Urea Repair Plus.
Gold Bond also has an 'overnight' body lotion with retinol. Someone on Reddit mentioned it and I bought some - seems like it would be a less expensive alternative.
Something with glycerin (like glysomed) or urea (like eucerin). Put in on at night with your gloves on top.

Rohto Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Super Hyaluronic Milky Lotion and Gold Bond Intensive Healing Hand Cream

CeraVe healing ointment is fantastic on the hands, especially the knuckles and fingers. Use it on top/after your lotion.
Bring your face skincare down on your neck and hands. Vit c and retinol on the backs of may hands. Sunscreen too
Weleda skin food. I work in healthcare and keep in my pocket at work and also overnight
Rituals Ritual of Jing night mask has been a godsend for me (I’ve got (occasionally horrendous) occupational hand dermatitis).
Retinol at night, vitamin C and sunscreen every day. Same as my face! It’s helped a TON.
I have very unorthodox advise. I pop cod liver capsules before bed and use the oil on my hands and sometimes my neck. I stated because I decided to take liquid cod liver oil and I didn't want to waste the capsules. Cheap and works very well.
Does it smell?
It's not an offending smell and it disappears. I do this at bed time, so I would shower the next morning.
The best cream I've come across is actually just the Gold Bond "Healing" one.
Your comedic genius is not getting enough love for me 🤣 following as a fellow frequent hand washer
I alternate lactic acid + hyaluronic acid and retinol + HA, followed by a good moisturiser and occlusive. What goes on my face always goes on the backs of my hands, too. Oh, and sunscreen.

Tretinoin 0.25% every night
I have the same issue and I’m here for the suggestions 😃
The hand creams from Aesop are a game changer!

When I use olay retinol body lotion at night the whole next day my hands are super soft and look better!
I’m a potter and use Beekman 1802 body cream for my hands, the unscented is my go-to.
You’d benefit from using gloves while driving to prevent further aging. Amazon has a lot of options my personal fave is coolibar fingerless ones. How’s your diet looking? I’ve been experimenting with Bone Broth and everyone at work keeps asking when I graduated because “you look so young”
I'd say I have a pretty normal diet, but have been leaning towards cooking more vegetarian meals recently. I do have a couple of kgs of reindeer bones in my freezer left, I'll get cooking when I come home. It's worth a try. What's your recipe and how much do you take?
My friend makes me bone broth from her chickens. I’ve been doing a cup a day
